The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 883: Chapter 883: Making a Special Trip Just to Watch the Excitement

Outside the Imperial Hotel, Ivy Wilmar and Emilia Sullivan arrived fashionably late; they didn’t head to the banquet hall but instead found a spot by the window on the third floor to have some water.

The waiter brought over a pot of top-notch Zhu Ye Qing tea, with celadon and white-glazed teaware that had a distinctively noble Chinese flair. Ivy sat at a corner of the sofa, slowly raising her teacup with a pleasant mood, and took a sip of tea.

Directly across from her was the dining area, where Celine Tucker and Leonardy Zachmann were standing outside, greeting guests. To call it greeting guests was a bit of a stretch; she had been sitting there for ten minutes and had only seen a sparse trickle of people arrive, and those were the kind of strangers she didn’t recognize at all.

Such a scene delighted Ivy; even the tea in her hand tasted clear and sweet, leaving a lingering aftertaste.

Her mood was buoyant, and her eyes and brows relaxed.

”It’s almost noon, and it looks like hardly anyone has come. Hehe, what a ’promotion party’, I say it’s just a big joke.” Emilia sat opposite her, her face wearing an expression of regret and remorse, and whispered in a lowered voice, ”It’s a shame the old man of the Zachmann Family even had the face to send us an invitation. If I’d known, I would have asked Jeff to come along to see this farce!”

While Ivy fiddled with her teacup, she looked down on her sister-in-law’s petty talk, but the corners of her mouth turned upward, ”Just take a photo, and they’ll see it.”

They had heard beforehand that Caryn Zachmann wouldn’t attend and was intent on ruining Nathalie Quinlan’s promotion party by scheming behind the scenes. They had specifically come to enjoy the show today.

But Myles Sullivan and Jeff Quinlan had not come.

They mainly disdained these petty tricks.

Ivy didn’t consider her attendance to watch the commotion as something trivial; it was rare to see Nathalie make a fool of herself, and she didn’t mind wasting a bit of time.

”I’ll take a photo and send it to Elliot,” she said, pulling out her phone and snapping a photo of the deserted banquet hall entrance, making sure to capture Leonardy Zachmann’s worried yet forcibly squeezed-out smile.

After taking the photo, she sent it to Myles Sullivan in good spirits.

She added a line below.

[It’s eleven o’clock at noon, and no one has come to Nathalie’s promotion party today.]

After sending the message, she curled up her lips and asked Emilia, sitting opposite her, ”Did you bring the Zachmann Family’s invitation letter with you?”

”I did,” said Emilia, pulling out the red invitation from her handbag and laughing, ”I always carry such things on me, just in case we want to ’have lunch’ at noon...”

Ivy looked at her deeply, for the first time feeling that her sister-in-law was not impossibly foolish; she even remembered to bring the invitation letter when she left home.

She took Emilia’s invitation that was placed on the table, stood up, took her handbag, and got ready to go over to ’congratulate’ them.

But just then, from the corner of her eye, she caught sight of a familiar figure—Silvania Ingram?

*

Silvania Ingram still wore that archetypal businesswoman attire, accompanied by several members from the Ingram Family of Beijing, politely approaching Leonardy Zachmann and Celine Tucker to hand them a red envelope.

”Congratulations, congratulations, I heard from Nathalie she’s having her promotion party here today.”

Silvania Ingram was a successful strong woman in business, well-accustomed to social niceties, and her words were smooth and pleasant, giving Leonardy Zachmann plenty of face. However, she was so slick in her interactions, she begrudged giving Celine Tucker at Leonardy’s side a glance, looking past her as if she didn’t exist.

”I hope Vice Director Zachmann won’t mind me showing up uninvited.”

She said it with a smile, so courteously.

Leonardy Zachmann had not expected Silvania Ingram to come at all, but after collecting his thoughts, knowing that Nathalie had a good relationship with Silvania Ingram of Pinecone Group, he immediately welcomed them inside.
