The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 867: Chapter 867: Mainly because I didn’t get an answer, quite anxious

Mr. Jones humbly relinquished his seat, lowering his posture, ”Mr. Yancey, please sit here.”

However, Amadeus Yancey didn’t move toward the offered seat but casually pulled out the chair next to Nathalie Quinlan, striking a poised figure. ”You sit down, I have a spot.”

He smiled, and with a deep and hoarse voice glanced at the girl next to him, ”I can just sit next to her.”

His intimate tone and demeanor made it clear to anyone that there was something secretive between them.

Yet, in the private room, the people either dared not speak or felt too embarrassed to mention it, except for Freddy Cagwin in the corner whose gaze dimmed, unable to hide his sense of loss.

He had always known this day would come and thought he had prepared himself, but upon witnessing the ambiguous atmosphere flowing between the two, he realized he wasn’t as strong as he had imagined.

He was still feeling lost.

Amadeus Yancey’s lips held a casual smile, seemingly not looking over at the boy, yet possibly having glanced.

”Mr. Yancey, it’s a surprise to see you here today. Had I known you were coming, I would have prepared...” Mr. Jones had been quite uneasy since his arrival, unsure of where to place his hands.

Especially since Amadeus Yancey’s presence in Beijing warranted special attention, let alone in a small place like McKinney.

Being just a high school principal, he felt quite unease and nervous.

Amadeus Yancey noticed his nervousness, offered a slight smile, lazily looked towards the girl adjusting her hat brim, and with a meaningful tone whispered softly, ”I just decided to drop by for a meal, mainly because there was an answer I didn’t get, and it’s urgent.”

Mr. Jones: ”...”

He instinctively wanted to ask what the answer was but felt it was inappropriate and refrained.

Instead, the girl who had just sat down heard the man’s gentle voice talking about ’waiting for an answer, quite urgently,’ and grew agitated. Her sleeve slid back, revealing a patch of fair wrist. She pressed down her hat brim, her lips moved as if she wanted to speak, but she held back.

When he asked about the answer, she received a phone call from Ghania Quinlan.

Ghania ranted on the phone, upsetting her, and she forgot about the matter.

Later on the way here, Amadeus had not mentioned it again, but now suddenly bringing it up in front of everyone made her feel as if she had irresponsibly abandoned something.

Especially when that someone chatted with Mr. Jones and others, his eyes, holding a smile, seemed to look her way now and then, making Nathalie Quinlan feel like he was pressing her for debts.

She turned her gaze away, trying her best to ignore the line of sight that fell on her, and turned her head.

Jhovany Sullivan leaned closer, whispering, ”Nathalie, the exam results are out, where do you plan to go for your summer holidays?”

Justin Wafford was also looking at her, his attention shifting from Amadeus Yancey and Mr. Jones back to the girl, interestedly saying, ”Yeah, Nathalie, with such a long vacation, where do you plan to go? I’m organizing a trip with my class to a small town in the south. Do you want to join us? My mom said she’d buy the airplane tickets!”

The Wafford Family had money, and with Justin scoring over 700, ranking in the top 50 of the province, his family was thrilled. Upon hearing that Justin wanted to go on a trip during the summer holidays, his mom generously transferred over a hundred thousand to him to buy airplane tickets for his friends.

When Jhovany asked Nathalie about her summer plans, Justin remembered he hadn’t asked Nathalie if she’d like to come.

”We’re planning to go to Rendornia. Online, it’s said, ’If you don’t go to heaven, go to Rendornia,’ claiming the scenery there is as beautiful as in the photos. Anyway, there’s nothing much to do over the summer holidays and no homework, Nathalie, would you like to join us to relax a bit?”
