The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 857: Chapter 857: What’s the Name of Your Niece Again?

Zayn Fisher’s face had turned an ashen blue, his body faltered momentarily before he steadied himself. Despite standing under the blazing sun, he felt a chill enveloping his body, especially when he heard the conversation between Zeus Tanzil and others coming from the basketball court. It felt as though a bucket of cold water had been poured over his head.

Zayn’s fingertips tensed ever so slightly, his mouth pressed into a thin line, as he stubbornly checked Twitter again for other trending topics...

Zeus Tanzil had also mentioned that Ghania Quinlan bought an Internet Water Army (Troll) to set the tone online, so he must have evidence since he said so...

In a corner of the Capital City Club.

Today, the college entrance examination results were out, and Nathalie Quinlan had ”flunked,” but she was in such a great mood that she took Ghania along to meet her circle of friends.

Being a member of the Wilmar Family and having successfully married into an equally prestigious family, Myles Sullivan, her friends were naturally of the same rank as well.

They were all prominent figures in Beijing, at least people Ghania had not had the chance to interact with yet.

Thus, throughout the afternoon tea, Ghania behaved exceptionally well-read and sensible, sweetly sitting beside Ivy Wilmar, speaking only when Ivy or someone else asked her a question, never interrupting otherwise.

Her ability to ”know her place” made Ivy’s friends feel quite positive about her after their interaction.

After all, it was the day of the college entrance examination results, and inevitably, the group of women turned the conversation towards that topic.

One of them, close to Ivy Wilmar, knowing Ghania’s results, lifted her coffee cup, hiding the slight smirk on her lips, and brought up the subject: ”Speaking of which, today is the day to check college entrance exam scores. My younger brother’s son also took it this year, but he didn’t do well, scoring less than 500 points, and that’s in humanities. He didn’t even meet the cut-off line for undergraduate courses, he’ll have to go abroad now.”

She then shifted the topic to the polite girl beside Ivy: ”Ivy, you’re just lucky. Your husband’s niece did well, getting into Tsinghua University through the joint entrance exam, not even needing to take the main exams.”

When Ghania heard this, she looked up and smiled gently, not engaging in conversation, polite and sensible. However, her eyes and brows unconsciously betrayed a young person’s pride.

The others had also heard of the beautiful niece from McKinney joining the Wilmar Family, with good looks and impressive academic achievements, a real source of pride for the family.

Hearing someone mention Ghania’s direct admission into Tsinghua University, they couldn’t help but look at her in surprise.

”I heard recently that Ghania was even accepted by Master Steven as his student, to study piano under him?”

Ivy Wilmar brought it up with a curve of her lip, mimicking Ghania’s reaction, both prideful yet feigning indifference, and said in a calm voice, ”Yes, that did happen.”

Master Steven had a significant reputation in Beijing; apart from Shawn Norton, he was the most sought-after teacher by these ladies of high society for their children.

Yet, Master Steven usually resided abroad and as an international figure, while not as selective as Mr. Norton, he was not someone who just accepted any student.

One had to at least pass a professional piano exam.

The fact that Ghania was able to study under Master Steven denoted she had, at a minimum, passed the eighth professional piano rank!

Ivy undoubtedly wanted to flaunt this, but the others weren’t necessarily willing to oblige her. As soon as she said this, they each picked up their coffee cups, looking down as if they hadn’t heard, sipping their coffee or playing with their phones, without anyone engaging in the conversation.

Sure, studying under Master Steven indeed meant something, but it was not as prestigious as being a student of Mr. Norton. Was Ivy Wilmar’s pride justified?

With no one joining in, the atmosphere at the table became a tad awkward. Ghania’s fingers tightened, her face showing embarrassment as she was about to excuse herself to go to the restroom.

Suddenly, the wife of the Provincial Director for Education, sitting in the corner playing with her phone, spoke up in surprise, ”Mr. Wilmar, what did you say your niece’s name was again?”
