The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 868: Chapter 868: Does Nathalie want to acknowledge relatives?

Class A all did well, and everyone was tense for a year before the college entrance exams, so of course, they had to unwind once the results came out.

Clerent Miller also propped up her chin, staring unwaveringly at Nathalie, coaxing from the side, ”Right, Nathalie, come with us, it’s more fun when we all go out together.”

Twenty or so pairs of eyes in the private room looked at her.

Nathalie lowered her eyelids, leaning lazily against the chair back, her hand resting on the table, she shook her head, rejecting the idea outright.

”I can’t go, you all go ahead.”

”Uh...” Justin Wafford looked at her, ”Why can’t you go, Nathalie? Do you have something else to do?”

”Yes.” Nathalie confessed candidly, ”I’m going to Beijing for a meal.”

He got it! Justin Wafford immediately showed understanding, ”A celebration dinner for getting into college?”

Nathalie cast him a glance with her pure black-and-white eyes, her tone light yet mischievous, ”No.”

”Not a celebration dinner, then what is it...”

”Meeting family.”

Class A: ...

Everyone was momentarily at a loss.

Meeting family?

Still, it was Justin Wafford who caught on quickest; after all, his family was quite well-known in McKinney, and he was more in the know than the others. He soon remembered the affair about Nathalie’s biological parents.

He always had high emotional intelligence, and once he realized what was happening, he quickly said, ”What date? I’ll come along.”

”Next Wednesday.” Nathalie was succinct, ”If you want to go, I’ll book you airplane tickets.”

”I’ll go!” Justin Wafford immediately burst into laughter, his sunny and handsome face radiantly attractive, ”Nathalie, if you’re meeting family, I must be there to back you up!”

The Zachmann Family’s background was quite complex, and he had heard some things about Caryn. This cousin of Nathalie’s probably wasn’t easy to get along with, and he was worried Nathalie might be at a disadvantage.

Others wanted to go too, but next week was too soon; having just finished their college entrance exams, they each had things at home that they couldn’t just leave, like choosing colleges with their families.

Some had their own family celebrations for college admissions...

After a full discussion, only Justin Wafford was free that day, even Freddy Cagwin wasn’t available.

However, their absence didn’t affect the lively atmosphere in the private room. Everyone was excited after performing well in the exams, and they quickly moved on to other topics.

Nathalie was not much of a talker. Under normal circumstances, she would quietly sit and listen to them speak, occasionally chiming in with a sentence or two, and spending the rest of the time on her phone.

The people of Class A were accustomed to her personality, only cueing her when the topic reached her turn, without especially bothering her.

Nathalie enjoyed the downtime, hiding in a corner with her phone.

Today, with results checked, many people were sending her messages.

Earlier, Silvania Ingram and others had messaged her about her scoring zero on the exams, and afterward, when the results were out, they sent messages to congratulate her.

It wasn’t only Silvania Ingram and Shawn Norton who sent her congratulatory messages.

Even those who didn’t usually message her, like Owen Yapiter and Jackson Wafford, sent her messages.

Nathalie’s phone lit up from time to time.

If she hadn’t set her phone to vibrate mode early on, it probably wouldn’t have been quiet all night.

In front of Nathalie was a glass of hot soy milk, with her eyelids drooping, she had finally replied to all the messages and was about to look up, hearing the lively chatter around her.

The phone buzzed again with a vibration.

She was somewhat annoyed, thinking it was Sadam Vinson or Lowie Wilmar, half-closing her eyes, her hand propping up her chin, she looked down.

Unexpectedly, she saw a surprising profile picture blinking.

Her fingertip rested on the phone, she didn’t open the message right away.

Instead, she turned her head to look to the side.

The man was drinking with Mr. Jones, the exchange of toasts revealing a distinguished demeanor. His face was bathed in the light, making his facial features sharp, his high nose bridge straight and prominent, his lips moist and slightly curved, provoking endless thoughts, and although his speaking speed was leisurely, it showed respect for Mr. Jones and Nancy Sullivan...
