Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 350: Chapter 214: Teaching and Mentoring, A Talent Excused

As everyone was busy talking, noon arrived. Qin Haonan hastily finished his lunch and immediately led the fleet of speedboats toward Dawn Base, moving as if his life depended on it.

”Leader, I really don’t think Haonan is cut out for studying,” Hua Lingfang said, shaking his head in resignation.

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”I agree, but learning the Cultivation Technique is a shortcut to rapidly increasing one’s Mental Energy.”

”It seems the only way now is to have someone who’s already learned it teach him,” Hua Lingfang continued.

Ren Yuanyang paused for a moment. ”Are you suggesting I teach him directly?”

”Right now, you’re the only one qualified,” Hua Lingfang said with a shrug.

”Alright, I’ll talk to him when he gets back,” Ren Yuanyang said, nodding again.

After these past few days of study and Cultivation, Ren Yuanyang could now project his Mental Energy out to a distance of nearly ten meters.

However, he could clearly feel a barrier preventing him from breaking past the ten-meter mark.

’It’s like a threshold that I need to find the right catalyst to cross.’

’Just continuing to cultivate blindly probably won’t be enough to break through. Maybe I should relax a bit and use this chance to teach Qin Haonan. I might find the catalyst I need that way.’

While leading his team at full speed, Qin Haonan suddenly sneezed. He rubbed his nose and muttered, ”The Leader must be talking about my studies again. What a headache!”

’I want to learn the Cultivation Technique too. Forget the Leader and the other adults—even Elder Hua’s grandson, Hua Wen, has been improving his Mental Energy faster than me these past two days. At this rate, I’m really going to be in last place!’

But whenever he tried to read those manuals, he would get drowsy within ten minutes, or his mind would just wander off.

”Damn it! I already suffered from my lack of education before, and now it’s happening again in the middle of the apocalypse!” Qin Haonan couldn’t help but curse.

’Maybe I should go back and ask Elder Hua to teach me?’ Qin Haonan was also trying to figure out how to learn the Cultivation Technique faster.

’The Leader is the first person I have to rule out. Teaching me would take up his time, and I can’t hold him back. I could ask Elder Hua and the others in turn. That way, I won’t take up too much of any one person’s time.’

As he was pondering with a troubled expression, the team arrived at Dawn Base.

After meeting Long Zhan, Qin Haonan immediately adjusted his mindset and began to discuss matters with him.

”Captain Long, we have a limited number of speedboats. After this trade, I was hoping you could arrange for ten speedboats to be dedicated to transporting medicinal herbs. That way, we won’t have to load and unload. We can just load them up at Peach Blossom Base and send them straight here. It would be much more convenient!”

Hearing this, Long Zhan immediately nodded. ”No problem. I’ll arrange for twenty speedboats on my end. When you arrive, you can immediately switch to the other ten and head back. There won’t be any delay at all!”

”That would be best!” Qin Haonan replied. ”Besides the herbs, if you need any other small-batch items transported, we can also use the speedboats. It’ll be much faster!”

”Okay, wait here a moment. I’ll hurry them up and have them unload the goods faster.” Long Zhan immediately stood up and made a call.

With Long Zhan hurrying them along, the medicinal herbs on the five speedboats from Peach Blossom Base were quickly unloaded. Qin Haonan said his farewells, then took the ten speedboats from Dawn Base and began the return journey.

Soon, around six in the evening, Qin Haonan and his team returned to Peach Blossom Base.

”Leader, Captain Long agreed to our proposal. He’s arranged for twenty speedboats to rotate in and out for transporting the herbs!” Qin Haonan reported to Ren Yuanyang at the dinner table.

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”Jiamei, make the arrangements. Have these ten speedboats help with expanding the Banyan Forest, then have them prepped and ready to go once they’re loaded with herbs.”

”Yes!” Lu Jiamei replied with a nod.

After giving these instructions, Ren Yuanyang looked at Qin Haonan again. ”After dinner, I want to have a private talk with you.”

Qin Haonan froze for a second, then his face fell. ”Leader, I’m really not cut out for studying!”

”I can see that. That’s why I want to talk to you,” Ren Yuanyang replied, glancing at him.

”Alright then,” Qin Haonan said with a sense of resignation.

Lin Mu and the others were also eating on the speedboats. They vaguely overheard the conversation between Ren Yuanyang and his group and were a little surprised.

”Minister Lin, don’t you think our leader’s standards are a bit too high? Peach Blossom Base is already so powerful, yet he’s still making Minister Qin study!” Jianghu said in a low voice.

Lin Mu nodded slightly, but he still strongly approved of Ren Yuanyang’s approach.

”Minister Qin isn’t old, and he’s certainly lacking in the knowledge department. The leader is doing this for his own good. Peach Blossom Base is bound to get bigger and bigger, and he’ll need more learning to command the respect of others.”

Jianghu was taken aback for a moment. ”In this situation, isn’t strength all that matters? As long as Minister Qin is strong enough, who would dare to challenge him?”

Lin Mu paused, then nodded. ”You’re not wrong, but no one can guarantee their Mental Energy will improve fast enough. What if some exceptionally talented survivors show up? They could quickly surpass you and me. We have to maintain an edge so we don’t get left behind by Peach Blossom Base.”

”That’s true. But the leader probably wouldn’t give those people Evolution Potions so soon, right?” Jianghu continued.

”Probably not. You should still have some time. But what I’m afraid of are the geniuses who, even if they awaken later than us, can still catch up and surpass us in no time,” Lin Mu remarked with some emotion. ”By the way, you were one of the first survivors to naturally become an Evolver. How far can your Mental Energy reach now?”
