Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 305: Chapter 195: A Fight Breaks Out, Abandoning Ship to Flee

Ren Yuanyang was speechless, but he also knew Qin Haonan had been piloting the boat all night and it had certainly been tough.

’Perhaps some people really aren’t cut out for studying.’

Ren Yuanyang shook his head helplessly and left them with a parting message: ”You two, stay safe!”

Then he ended the call.

Qin Haonan let out a small sigh of relief. He felt like a student who’d been caught by a teacher for not finishing his homework; thankfully, the teacher didn’t press the issue.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The sudden sound of dense cannon fire came from outside. Qin Haonan immediately went out to check.

”What’s going on?”

Jianghu replied in a low voice, ”It must be those large ships from earlier. They’re engaging the Dawn Base!”

”Captain Wang was right! Another faction really was targeting the Dawn Base!” Qin Haonan said, surprised.

”But attacking the Dawn Base seems like the costs would outweigh the benefits, right?” Jianghu asked, looking puzzled. ”Besides those few ships, it doesn’t seem like the Dawn Base has anything worth attacking. Plus, they have artillery. It would be a time-consuming and difficult fight. What faction would be foolish enough to try?”

”That’s true. The Dawn Base has to resort to human trafficking just to get water, which means they’re dirt-poor,” Qin Haonan mused, then continued, ”Maybe the other factions don’t know about the Dawn Base’s situation? Or... could they have mistaken the Dawn Base for our Peach Blossom Base?”

”That’s definitely possible. After all, our base is a very valuable target,” Jianghu nodded in agreement. ”If that’s the case, doesn’t that mean the Aircraft Carrier Base arrived a step too late?”

Qin Haonan frowned slightly and contacted Ren Yuanyang again. ”Chief, they’ve started fighting. Should we try to fish in troubled waters?”

”They’re fighting?” Ren Yuanyang asked, taken aback.

”Yes. It’s those large ships from before. It seems they opened fire as soon as they approached the Dawn Base,” Qin Haonan confirmed with a nod.

”So they aren’t reinforcements, then,” Ren Yuanyang murmured with a slight frown. ”Have you informed the Aircraft Carrier Base?”

”Not yet,” Qin Haonan replied, shaking his head.

”Alright, you keep an eye on them. I’ll contact Captain Wang,” Ren Yuanyang said.

”Understood!”

Ren Yuanyang immediately relayed what he knew to Wang Jun.

”Opening with artillery right off the bat... looks like this group has plenty of firepower,” Wang Jun remarked, also surprised. ”Your men, can they get any closer?”

Only by seeing the type of ships and their armaments could they identify the enemy faction.

Ren Yuanyang shook his head slightly. ”Our base’s recon team is just in a single speedboat. It’s too dangerous for them to get any closer.”

”Mm, I understand. In that case, we’ll wait for our fleet to arrive,” Wang Jun replied. ”Regardless, we have to take the Dawn Base!”

Ren Yuanyang paused, then said with a frown, ”By the time you get there, the battle at the Dawn Base will likely be long over...”

His meaning was clear: if the fleet from the Aircraft Carrier Base couldn’t arrive in time, they couldn’t take advantage of the situation.

”I understand what you mean. But with the number of ships they have, we don’t need to take advantage of the situation. We can defeat them in a direct confrontation,” Wang Jun said with exceptional confidence.

Hearing this, Ren Yuanyang was somewhat surprised. ”Did you send a large fleet this time?”

”Just over thirty ships, that’s all,” Wang Jun replied with a faint smile.

”Over thirty ships?” Ren Yuanyang was stunned for a moment, then asked with a laugh, ”Are you planning on annexing our base while you’re at it?”

”Of course not,” Wang Jun said, shaking his head immediately. ”Didn’t you suggest we establish a second base at the Dawn Base location? We need enough defensive strength to gain a solid foothold there. Based on current intelligence, the Xi’an Base was likely established by the power behind Sea Eagle Country. Their strength should not be underestimated.”

Ren Yuanyang paused. ”The Xi’an Base has such a powerful backer?”

”Yes, so we must be cautious,” Wang Jun nodded. ”When the time comes, we’ll be counting on the Peach Blossom Base for protection!”

”You jest, Captain Wang. We don’t have that kind of power,” Ren Yuanyang said, shaking his head with a smile.

But on the video screen, Wang Jun’s expression turned serious. ”No, I’m being earnest. In the future, there will be many things the Aircraft Carrier Base will need to rely on the Peach Blossom Base for. I hope Brother Yang, for the sake of our hundreds of thousands of compatriots, will lend us a hand when we need it.”

Ren Yuanyang was taken aback for a moment. After a moment of contemplation, he replied, ”As long as the Aircraft Carrier Base remains a friend to the Peach Blossom Base, we will certainly lend a hand, provided we have the capacity to do so.”

Wang Jun smiled and nodded. ”Good. Then thank you, Brother Yang.”

Ren Yuanyang waved his hand dismissively and asked, ”You’ve transferred so many ships over all at once. Will the Aircraft Carrier Base be alright?”

”Don’t worry. We have at least three aircraft carriers here. Any enemy that dares to attack the Aircraft Carrier Base will find it’s a one-way trip,” Wang Jun replied.

”Mm, that’s good. The Dawn Base most likely won’t be able to withstand their assault. When you arrive, you’ll probably be facing a new power,” Ren Yuanyang continued.

”Thank you for the warning. We’ll be careful,” Wang Jun replied. ”The one leading the fleet this time is Captain Long Zhan. He’ll most likely be stationed there permanently. If anything unusual happens, you can contact him directly.”

Ren Yuanyang paused, surprised. He hadn’t expected the Aircraft Carrier Base to station a captain there permanently.

Still, he responded quickly, ”Alright, I understand.”

After ending the call, Wang Jun immediately shared this information with Long Zhan and Ji Yizhi.

”Someone’s already attacking, and we haven’t even arrived yet?” Long Zhan asked, surprised.

”Yes. Peach Blossom Base had a team monitoring the Dawn Base. They saw it with their own eyes,” Wang Jun confirmed with a slight nod.

Ji Yizhi pondered for a moment, then said with a frown, ”Based on their description, those large ships have heavy firepower. Since the Dawn Base has already established contact with the Xi’an Base, no other nation’s forces should be attacking them.”
