Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 307: Chapter 195: A Fight Breaks Out, Abandoning the Ship to Flee

”You mean to say that Taoyuan Yang wasn’t confident he could protect himself from us before, but now he is?” Long Zhan asked, a little puzzled. ”We’ve only been in contact for a little over a month. Has he grown that strong so quickly?”

Wang Jun and Ji Yizhi nodded in unison.

”With such high growth potential, it seems we were right to build a good relationship with Peach Blossom Base!” Long Zhan said with a smile.

Ji Yizhi gave him a thumbs-up. ”On this point, I have to admire your foresight!”

”Hahaha!” Long Zhan laughed smugly.

Just then, Zhao Jun, the head of the Aircraft Carrier Base’s laboratory, rushed in from outside.

”Captain, the toxins in the rainwater are showing signs of decreasing!”

Hearing this, Long Zhan, who was on the call, hurriedly asked, ”Are the toxins finally going to disappear?”

Wang Jun looked up at Zhao Jun and asked in a low voice, ”Are you sure?”

”According to our test results, the toxin concentration in the rainwater has decreased by 5%,” Zhao Jun confirmed with a nod.

”Keep observing for a while longer,” Wang Jun replied after a moment of frowning thought.

”Yes! We’ll keep a close eye on the rainwater situation!” Zhao Jun nodded.

”Mm, can you determine the source of the toxins?” Wang Jun continued to ask.

Zhao Jun shook his head. ”Just like the rain itself, we have no clue!”

Wang Jun wasn’t surprised by this answer. Right now, they could only react to things as they came, with no idea what was causing all of this.

”To investigate the source of the rain and its toxins now, the only way to uncover their secrets would probably be to go into space,” Zhao Jun continued. ”But we don’t have the means for that right now.”

”We will in the future,” Wang Jun said, as if comforting himself as much as Zhao Jun.

Zhao Jun nodded and turned to leave Wang Jun’s office.

”I really hope the toxins in the rain disappear soon!” Long Zhan said.

Ji Yizhi shook his head. ”We’re not even sure if the toxin concentration has truly decreased, and you’re already hoping it’ll disappear? Things are never that easy!”

”A man’s got to have a dream. What if it comes true?” Long Zhan replied with a smile.

Ji Yizhi just smiled and shook his head again, not saying anything more.

”Alright, Old Long, you still need to be extra careful over there. If you have time, get in touch with Peach Blossom Base more often. We’ll be waiting for your good news!” Wang Jun said in a low voice.

”Yes, sir!” Long Zhan acknowledged, then asked, ”Should we tell Peach Blossom Base about the decrease in toxins?”

”We’re not sure if this five percent drop is just a normal fluctuation. Let’s wait. Once it’s confirmed, I’ll tell Taoyuan Yang myself,” Wang Jun said, shaking his head slightly.

”Alright!” Long Zhan nodded and left the video conference.

Ji Yizhi hesitated for a moment before speaking. ”Old Wang, is it really a good idea to be confronting the Sea Eagle Country’s forces right now?”

”They’ve already encroached into our Dragon Country’s territory. We have to face them sooner or later,” Wang Jun said grimly. ”The geomagnetic storm affected everyone equally. We weren’t afraid of them before the flood, and we’re not afraid of them now!”

”I just feel that we shouldn’t be fighting amongst ourselves right now. Blue Star is already in this state; we should be working together to find the cause of this disaster,” Ji Yizhi continued.

”Your intentions are good, but the other factions won’t think that way,” Wang Jun said, a little helplessly.

”Sigh...” Ji Yizhi sighed and said no more.

At Dawn Base, cannons thundered!

”Captain, I’m afraid we can’t hold on!” a staff officer said in a panic, rushing up to Jing Shu.

Jing Shu’s expression was exceptionally ugly. ”Is Xi’an Base insane? They sent five large ships over! Do they have that much fuel?”

”Perhaps they came here with no intention of going back,” the staff officer replied with a frown.

”’No intention of going back?’” Jing Shu looked at the staff officer in confusion.

The staff officer nodded slightly. ”Perhaps they just want to occupy our base.”

Jing Shu immediately understood the staff officer’s meaning. ”Damn it, so they really are a pack of wolves!”

”Captain, what do we do now? The enemy’s firepower is too fierce. Three of our large ships on the perimeter have already been destroyed!” the staff officer said, frowning.

”Our only option now is to abandon Dawn Base!” Jing Shu was exceptionally decisive. ”Are you coming with me?”

The staff officer was stunned for a moment, then immediately nodded. ”I am!”

”Good. I’ve already had people prepare speedboats and supplies. Go pack your things. We’re leaving immediately!” Jing Shu ordered in a low voice.

”Yes, Captain!” The staff officer immediately turned and left. After returning to his room, he quickly took out a cell phone and sent a text message.

Soon, he received a reply: ”Follow Jing Shu. When this is over, you’ll be set for life.”

’Looking at the message, the staff officer was internally conflicted. If I follow Jing Shu and my identity as a traitor is exposed, I’ll definitely die a horrible death!’

’But if I don’t go with Jing Shu, Xi’an Base will definitely sell me out!’

The person he had just contacted was Bao Mu of Xi’an Base.

Helpless, he could only bite the bullet and follow Jing Shu onto a speedboat.

Jing Shu had clearly prepared everything in advance. He took a total of three speedboats, each one loaded with various resources. The people on board were all his trusted confidants.

”Captain, which way are we going now?” the staff officer asked curiously.

”Away from the battlefield! Full speed ahead!”

Jing Shu pointed in a direction, and the three speedboats immediately sped off.

”The Captain’s running away!” someone suddenly shouted.

Already suppressed by Xi’an Base’s cannon fire, and now with their commander abandoning ship and fleeing, Dawn Base lost all courage to continue fighting and immediately raised the white flag.

”This Dawn Base is too weak. We haven’t even gone all out, and they’ve already surrendered!”

”Be careful, they might be faking the surrender. The Dragon Country People are full of tricks; we must be on guard!”

”Don’t worry. Their commander has already fled. The possibility of a fake surrender is almost zero.”

”The commander ran? Aren’t we going after him?”

”Relax. The team to pursue their commander has already set out. They’re already waiting for them up ahead!”

Bao Mu had no intention of letting Jing Shu escape. He didn’t want an Evolver threatening the safety of Xi’an Base. This time, he was prepared to wipe out all of Dawn Base’s members in one fell swoop.

And with the staff officer’s defection happening at just the right time, Bao Mu naturally wouldn’t pass up such a perfect opportunity.

So he dispatched eighteen Evolvers, vowing to capture Jing Shu.

And the direction Jing Shu fled was right where Qin Haonan and his team were conducting surveillance.

”Looks like some speedboats are approaching us?” Jianghu said, sounding a bit uncertain. He couldn’t see clearly.

Qin Haonan shouted in a low voice, ”Prepare for battle!”

Everyone clutched a Sound Box, ready to throw it at a moment’s notice.

Meanwhile, Jing Shu had also vaguely spotted Qin Haonan’s speedboats. He immediately cursed, ”Damn it! Xi’an Base is really trying to wipe us out completely, placing speedboats in this direction too!”

’Hearing this, the staff officer was startled. Was Xi’an Base’s plan this thorough?’

’I only just revealed Jing Shu’s escape route, and they’ve already set up an ambush ahead?’

”Turn right, now!” Jing Shu ordered.

Qin Haonan and his group watched as the three speedboats suddenly changed direction and sped away into the distance, leaving them all baffled.

”What’s the situation?”

Completely bewildered, Qin Haonan immediately reported the matter to Ren Yuanyang.

Ren Yuanyang immediately asked, ”How many speedboats did they have?”

”I couldn’t see clearly, but there was definitely more than one,” Qin Haonan replied, shaking his head.

”That must be a group that escaped from Dawn Base,” Ren Yuanyang analyzed. ”Dawn Base must have been defeated!”

”Should we follow them?” Qin Haonan asked. ”Maybe we can capitalize on this!”

Ren Yuanyang pondered for a moment before replying, ”Tail them from a distance and wait for us. There are only four of you; you’re too short-handed.”

”You got it!” Qin Haonan responded, then immediately started the speedboat and headed in the direction the others had fled.

Meanwhile, Ren Yuanyang, along with Yu Ren and ten Evolvers, left Peach Blossom Base in two speedboats.

Jing Shu changed direction and fled for about an hour before suddenly spotting another three speedboats up ahead!

”Damn it, they’re like persistent ghosts!” Jing Shu cursed, then ordered the driver, ”Change direction again!”

Just then, Jing Shu’s phone suddenly received a text from Bao Mu: ”Stop struggling. No matter where you run, I’ll know!”

Seeing this message, Jing Shu’s eyes narrowed as he scanned everyone on the speedboat.

After looking around, Jing Shu immediately replied on his phone: ”Trying to sow discord among us? Dream on!”

”I don’t understand your fancy stratagems, but I understand human nature. You picked a random direction to flee, and I was still able to intercept you. Doesn’t that prove something?” Bao Mu replied.

Jing Shu’s face darkened as he read the message.

’Bao Mu was right. It was impossible for Xi’an Base to have set up such a large encirclement. The fact that they could accurately intercept him meant there was definitely a traitor on one of their speedboats!’
