Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 336: Chapter 207: Prevention and Elimination, Cured with a Single Dose

He didn’t even need to search his own seed inventory. As long as a plant had a name, the International Seed Bank was certain to have its seeds!

”In that case, could I trouble you to arrange for a speedboat to deliver those seeds?” Wang Jun asked.

Nelson nodded. ”Of course, but the number of people infected with the virus in our fleet is growing. We need medical support!”

Wang Jun immediately replied, ”No problem. You arrange for a speedboat to bring the seeds, and I’ll arrange for a speedboat to bring the medicine. We’ll meet in the middle!”

”Thank you so much, then. I’ll have them bring over some extra seeds, as long as it doesn’t slow them down!” Nelson replied gratefully.

”Thank you!” Wang Jun responded.

After ending the call, Wang Jun immediately gave an order: ”Get one thousand boxes each of fever reducers, cough medicine, and antiviral drugs. Send them to the River Bird Base.”

Upon receiving the order, Ji Yizhi rushed over, frowning. ”Old Wang, what are you doing? We don’t have enough medicine for ourselves!”

”Peach Blossom Base needs the seeds of a certain plant...” Wang Jun explained.

”Even so, do we really need to give them this much medicine?” Ji Yizhi said.

”I just received a message from Long Zhan. Peach Blossom Base has already sent a batch of medicine to Dawn Base. This means Peach Blossom Base’s medicine production is very fast, and that medicine will soon be sent to support us at the Aircraft Carrier Base,” Wang Jun explained. ”If I had a choice, I would much rather use traditional herbal medicine than chemically synthesized drugs!”

Ji Yizhi paused for a moment, then nodded with a frown. ”I just don’t know how effective Chinese medicine will be!”

”They can even produce the Evolution Potion. Are you really worried about its effectiveness?” Wang Jun retorted with a smile.

Ji Yizhi was taken aback, then shook his head helplessly. ”The common perception has always been that traditional herbal medicine is unscientific and slow-acting. It’s not a mindset that can be changed overnight.”

”Indeed. The public has been deeply misled by public opinion!” Wang Jun lamented.

If it weren’t for the media’s narrative, the general public wouldn’t hold such strong prejudice against traditional Chinese medicine, which has been passed down for thousands of years.

At this moment, the first sick crew member finished his follow-up examination. After the diagnosis, Hua Lingfang discovered that the man had almost completely recovered.

He couldn’t help but marvel once again at the potent effects of those enhanced medicinal herbs!

”Minister Hua, how is he doing?” James asked curiously.

”He’s fine now. Although he’s still a bit weak, he can recover on his own. He won’t need any more acupuncture or medicine!” Hua Lingfang replied.

”His illness was cured after just one dose of the herbal soup?” James knew traditional Chinese medicine was amazing, but he never thought it would be *this* amazing!

Hua Lingfang nodded slightly. ”Yes, thanks to the potent effects of the Leader’s herbs. If these were ordinary herbs, he would have needed to drink it for at least three days to achieve this result!”

James nodded. ”Thank you, Minister Hua, for using such precious medicinal ingredients on us!”

Hua Lingfang waved his hand. ”If you’re going to thank someone, thank our Leader!”

”I understand. The Leader has been too good to us. We will definitely repay him!” James said in a serious tone.

”Mm, as long as you understand!” Hua Lingfang replied. ”In two hours, organize everyone to drink another dose of the preventative herbal soup!”

”Yes, sir!” James responded.

「Two hours later.」 Qin Haonan had arrived at Dawn Base.

Long Zhan personally came out to welcome Qin Haonan and his team.

”Captain Long, these three speedboats are filled with pre-measured medicinal herbs. You just need to brew them according to the method Elder Hua told you and have the patients drink it!” Qin Haonan explained.

Long Zhan nodded. ”Alright, thank you for your hard work! Come aboard my ship and rest for a bit!”

Qin Haonan shook his head. ”Next time. Once you’re done unloading, we have to return immediately to report back. We need to continue transporting more medicinal herbs! We can’t afford any delays!”

”Understood. We’ll arrange for people to unload them right away!” Long Zhan naturally understood that this was no time for idle chatter.

The medicinal herbs weren’t heavy, and Long Zhan’s side finished unloading everything in just ten minutes.

After Qin Haonan departed, Long Zhan immediately organized his people to start brewing the herbal soup.

At the same time, he arranged for two speedboats to transport a portion of the herbs to the Aircraft Carrier Base.

”Old Wang, I’m sending two speedboats’ worth of medicinal herbs your way. It will take at least twelve hours for them to reach you!” Long Zhan sent a message to Wang Jun.

”Okay. Will one speedboat’s worth be enough for you?” Wang Jun asked, a little worried.

Long Zhan replied with a laugh, ”I have the advantage of being closer to the source!”

Wang Jun paused, then nodded in agreement. ”That’s true! Have you started using the herbs yet?”

”We’re brewing them now according to the method from Peach Blossom Base. It should be ready soon. I’ll give you feedback on the effects after we use it!” Long Zhan replied.

”Alright. Those empty supply ships should be arriving at Dawn Base soon!” Wang Jun continued. ”Hand them over directly to Peach Blossom Base. With the current flow of resources, we’re going to need a lot of fuel to keep this up!”

”Mm, I’ll contact Peach Blossom Base in advance and have them come over!” Long Zhan agreed.

The two chatted a bit more about the situations at their respective bases before ending the call.

Back at Peach Blossom Base, aboard the supply ship, all the sick patients had returned to normal after just one dose of the herbal soup!

Hua Lingfang immediately reported to Ren Yuanyang, ”Leader, your medicinal herbs are absolutely incredible! All the patients returned to normal after just one dose of the herbal soup. They’re still a bit weak, but all they need is rest!”

Ren Yuanyang was also a little surprised. He replied with a smile, ”It’s all thanks to your brilliant prescription!”

Hua Lingfang quickly waved his hands. ”I only used a universal basic formula, a combination of Great Cyan Dragon Soup and Wulingsan. I didn’t even adjust it for geographical or individual differences, which is technically improper. It’s just that the medicinal properties of the herbs you provided are so good that one prescription can treat a hundred people!”

”Even if it’s a universal basic formula, someone still has to know it!” Ren Yuanyang shook his head. ”Therefore, you deserve the primary credit for fighting this epidemic!”

”You’re too kind, Leader!” Hua Lingfang replied at once.

Qin Haonan, who was on his way back, couldn’t stand it anymore and immediately posted in the group chat: ”Elder Hua, don’t be so modest. You’re the only one in our base who understands traditional Chinese medicine; in fact, you’re our only doctor. The credit for curing the sick naturally belongs to you! Of course, the Leader’s contributions go without saying. Without the Leader, most people in the base probably wouldn’t have survived this long!”

The others in the group chat quickly chimed in.

”That’s right. Without the Leader, Hua Wen and I would have died long ago on that flimsy bamboo raft!” Hua Lingfang said with emotion.

”Elder Hua, at least you had a bamboo raft. I only had a wooden plank. If I hadn’t met the Leader, I probably would have died a miserable death!” Lu Jiamei said with a laugh.

”Without the Leader, I probably would have starved to death on my own speedboat!” Xin Wan posted.

”Same here!” Jin Ziyu suddenly chimed in.

Qin Haonan immediately retorted, ”With that appetite of yours, you’d starve to death in any other base! You’re lucky you’re with us!”

”Hmph, it’s not like I’m eating your rice. Why do you care how much I eat?” Jin Ziyu shot back.

Seeing the two were about to start bickering again, Ren Yuanyang quickly changed the subject. ”Jiamei, is the expansion of the Banyan Forest going smoothly?”

”Very smoothly. We have more speedboats now, so the expansion is going much faster!” Lu Jiamei nodded.

”Don’t forget to set aside planting space in the newly expanded areas,” Ren Yuanyang reminded her. ”Notify Lin Mu about the new planting spaces and remind him to make use of them promptly. We’re likely going to need large quantities of various crops soon!”

”Okay!” Lu Jiamei nodded in agreement.

”Everyone, get back to work. Contact me if anything comes up!” Ren Yuanyang ended the group chat and then sent a message to Wang Jun and the others.

”To the three Captains: based on tests at our base, patients sick with the virus can be cured with just a single dose of the herbs we provided. Please monitor the efficacy when you use them!”

When Wang Jun and the other two saw this message, they were completely stunned.

In their minds, traditional Chinese medicine had always been synonymous with slow results. How could one dose possibly be enough?

This was even more outrageous than the claims made for snake oil sold by charlatans!

”Brother Yang, are you sure one dose is all it takes?” Wang Jun asked, finding it hard to believe.

”Mm, Captain Long already has the medicine, right? You’ll know once you try it!” Ren Yuanyang replied.
