Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 312: Chapter 197: Controlling the Wind-Type, Sharing Information

The Wind-Type Evolver’s eyes were still shut tight, as if he hadn’t woken up at all.

”Can’t understand what I’m saying? Then I’ll take matters into my own hands!” Ren Yuanyang sneered, pulling out a dagger.

The Evolver’s eyes shot open. ”No, don’t!”

His Dragon Language was a bit broken, but his enunciation was clear enough that it didn’t hinder their communication.

Ren Yuanyang stood before him, dagger in hand, and asked, ”You’re Wind?”

Ren Yuanyang had heard James shout the name during the fight with his group, but he needed to confirm it.

The Evolver immediately nodded. ”Yes, I’m Wind.”

”Tell me about your squad. If you cooperate, you might not have to die.” Ren Yuanyang sat down in a nearby chair, endlessly twirling the dagger in his hand.

Wind stared at the dagger in his hand and couldn’t help but swallow hard. He didn’t dare resist. So many Evolvers had been taken down in an instant just now. He was all alone; to resist now would be suicide.

”We’re an Evolver squad from the Xi’an Base. Eighteen of us came in total...” Wind told him everything about his team.

After listening, Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”How many Evolvers does the Xi’an Base have in total?”

”As far as I know, there should be around fifty, but I’m not sure if they have more in secret,” Wind replied respectfully.

”Were you the ones who attacked the Dawn Base, too?” Ren Yuanyang asked after a brief moment of contemplation.

Wind hurriedly waved his hands. ”We were only responsible for ambushing and killing the people who escaped the Dawn Base! The attack on the base itself was carried out by a regular squad!”

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”How many vessels did your base send to attack the Dawn Base?”

”Five in total. Three battleships and two frigates,” Wind replied immediately.

”We’ll be asking the others these same questions. If there are any inconsistencies, I’ll make you suffer a fate worse than death,” Ren Yuanyang said coldly.

”Sir, everything I’ve said is the truth! Not a single lie!” Wind hastily declared.

Ren Yuanyang didn’t press the subject. Instead, he said, ”Show me your Superpower.”

Wind immediately waved his hands in refusal. ”No, I wouldn’t dare use my Superpower in front of you, sir!”

He was afraid Ren Yuanyang would use it as an excuse to kill him. He knew that the Dragon Country People always needed a proper pretext before taking a life.

Ren Yuanyang stopped twirling the dagger, looked at Wind, and said, ”If you don’t do as I ask, you will die right now.”

”No, sir! I’ll do as you ask right away!” Wind cried out in terror.

Ren Yuanyang was inwardly speechless. ’I never expected Wind to be so cowardly, caving after just one little threat.’

’It seems that even becoming an Evolver can’t change a person’s fundamental nature.’

”Show me your Superpower,” Ren Yuanyang urged.

Wind immediately and cautiously formed a small tornado in the palm of his hand.

Ren Yuanyang carefully sensed how the man summoned and manipulated the Wind Element, and he quickly grasped the workings of the Wind-Type Superpower.

”Alright, you can stop now.” Ren Yuanyang got up and left.

Wind hurriedly dissipated the tornado in his hand, letting out a long sigh of relief. ’So he wasn’t just looking for an excuse to kill me after all.’

Ren Yuanyang walked out of the cabin where the prisoners were being held and instructed Yu Ren and his men to keep a close watch on them. After all, they were all Evolvers; he could only rest easy with a powerful Mutant like Yu Ren leading the guards.

After leaving the speedboat where the captives were held, Ren Yuanyang immediately initiated a video call with Wang Jun.

”Captain Wang, we’ve captured some informants. The Xi’an Base sent five battleships and three frigates to attack the Dawn Base, and they’ve already conquered it!”

”That fast?” Wang Jun was surprised.

”The Dawn Base may have seized some large ships from the Han Jin Association, but their own combat strength was no match for the Xi’an Base.” Ren Yuanyang shook his head. ”Besides, their leader fled his post the moment the fighting started. The fall of the Dawn Base was inevitable.”

Wang Jun nodded slightly. ”That’s a good point. The intel you’ve provided is crucial. Since that’s all the ships they have, there’s nothing to worry about!”

”I’ll keep a close eye on the Xi’an Base’s movements from here. If anything comes up, I’ll let you know right away,” Ren Yuanyang replied.

”Then I owe you one, Brother Yang!” Wang Jun said, cupping his fists.

Ren Yuanyang waved his hand dismissively and was about to end the video call when Wang Jun stopped him.

”Wait!”

Ren Yuanyang looked at Wang Jun, confused. ”What is it?”

”Over here, we’ve discovered that the toxin concentration in the water is decreasing!” Wang Jun continued.

Another two hours of continuous monitoring confirmed that the concentration of toxins in the rainwater was, in fact, steadily decreasing.

Even if Ren Yuanyang hadn’t contacted him, he had been planning to talk to him about this.

”The toxins are decreasing?” Ren Yuanyang asked, surprised.

”Yes. According to our lab’s monitoring, compared to its peak concentration, the level is currently dropping by about one percentage point per hour,” Wang Jun said, nodding.

”That’s great news!” Ren Yuanyang said, excited.

This toxic rain also had an effect on the Peach Blossom Base.

It wasn’t an issue for their drinking water, but it affected their agriculture.

All edible crops had to be cultivated with water purified by the Dripping Lotus; other plants were temporarily left without special treatment.

If the toxins disappeared, it would be a great boon for the Peach Blossom Base!

”But we don’t know how low the concentration will drop. We’ll need to keep observing it,” Wang Jun said, extremely cautious.

Ren Yuanyang nodded. ”Either way, a drop in the toxin concentration is a good sign.”
