Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 335: Chapter 207: Preventive Disinfection, One Dose Is All It Takes

Long Zhan’s excitement faltered for a moment. He then immediately shook his head. ”As of now, we haven’t found any cases of Evolvers showing symptoms of infection.”

”Alright, I understand. Do your best to keep the critical patients alive on your end! We’ll get to Dawn Base as fast as we can!” Ren Yuanyang responded before ending the chat.

After glancing at the quantity of enhanced medicinal herb seeds to his side, Ren Yuanyang took out his phone and issued several orders.

”Jiamei, take all the speedboats loaded with medicinal herbs and move them near the supply ship.”

”Haonan, get a few people and deliver the medicinal herbs from the speedboats to Dawn Base!”

”Lin Mu, I’ve prepared all the medicinal herb seeds. Once you’re done with your current planting, come to the base office to get them.”

Everyone who was named replied with their acknowledgments.

Ren Yuanyang headed toward the supply ship. The number of enhanced seeds was enough for Lin Mu’s side to plant for a while. The continuous enhancement process had nearly depleted his Mental Energy, so he needed to rest.

When he arrived on the supply ship, Si Youqin immediately rushed to meet him. ”Chief, the number of cases on the ship is growing. You really shouldn’t be coming aboard.”

”If even Elder Hua can come aboard, then of course a young and healthy man like me can too!” Ren Yuanyang shook his head. ”Besides, you need to have faith in Elder Hua’s medical skills and in the constitution of us Evolvers.”

”But...”

Si Youqin tried to say more, but Ren Yuanyang cut her off with a smile. ”It’s fine. I won’t go into the cabins. I’m just going to ask Elder Hua about the situation!”

Si Youqin could only let him pass, feeling helpless.

Ren Yuanyang walked into the lounge. Hua Lingfang, who had just sat down, immediately shot back up. ”Chief, what are you doing up here? Didn’t I give orders not to let the chief come aboard?”

That last sentence was directed at Si Youqin.

Si Youqin wore a helpless expression. Ren Yuanyang spoke up, ”I insisted on coming. What’s the situation now?”

”Right now, there are thirty-seven people on the ship showing symptoms. Everyone reported in promptly, and their conditions are relatively stable after taking the herbal decoction,” Hua Lingfang replied.

”It seems the herbal decoction we had everyone take is having some effect, then!” Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly.

Hua Lingfang himself wasn’t so sure. ”Without a control group, it’s hard to say what effect the preventative decoction is actually having!”

”Who says there’s no comparison? Over half the people at the Aircraft Carrier Base and Dawn Base are infected,” Ren Yuanyang said grimly.

Hua Lingfang was taken aback. ”Is it really that severe?”

Ren Yuanyang nodded. ”It is. Their medical supplies are almost gone. I’ve already sent Haonan over with those medicinal herbs!”

”From that perspective, our situation here is indeed good.” Hua Lingfang nodded, then continued, ”Chief, this virus is incredibly aggressive. We need to do a thorough job of disinfecting the environment. Our food stores are still ample, so we could use some of it to distill high-proof alcohol for sterilization.”

Even though the virus rain was ceaseless, lowering the viral concentration in their living areas was always a good idea!

Ren Yuanyang paused, taken aback. ’He hadn’t actually considered that problem.’

After a moment of contemplation, he said, ”Alright, I understand. I’ll go back and figure out the fastest way to produce high-proof alcohol!”

”Yes, Chief. You should get off the ship now!” Hua Lingfang started to usher Ren Yuanyang off.

Just then, James rushed up from the lower decks. He froze when he saw Ren Yuanyang.

’The Chief came aboard the supply ship himself?’ James was stunned.

”James, did you need something?” Hua Lingfang asked.

”Minister Hua, the first crewman you treated has woken up. He says he feels okay. Do you want to go take a look?” James quickly stated his purpose for being there.

None of James’s group had phones, so it was impossible to contact Hua Lingfang that way; he had to run up in person.

”Alright!” Hua Lingfang nodded, then turned to Ren Yuanyang again. ”Chief, you really should get going now!”

”Alright. You all be careful.” Ren Yuanyang responded, then turned and left the supply ship.

He returned to the base office and immediately began searching on his computer.

Since he had the Enhancement System, he naturally wanted to find a plant that could produce alcohol directly. After all, brewing it would definitely be slower than having a plant produce it outright!

His computer had a comprehensive botanical encyclopedia, and within it, Ren Yuanyang quickly found a plant called Wine Bamboo.

It grew in tropical forests and was short and elegant. Locals would often take a stalk, shave off the tip, and stick it upside down into a bottle. After one day, the bottle would be full of clear liquor.

Testing showed that the alcohol content was around twenty percent, with a maximum of thirty percent.

Dragon Country’s National Seed Bank didn’t have seeds for this plant.

It was a foreign species, after all, so it was normal that they didn’t have the seeds.

After a moment’s thought, Ren Yuanyang sent a message directly to Wang Jun.

”Captain Wang, could you get in touch with the River Bird Fleet and ask if they have any Wine Bamboo seeds?”

Seeing the message, Wang Jun was taken aback. ”Wine Bamboo? What kind of plant is that?”

Ren Yuanyang gave a brief explanation, leaving Wang Jun astonished. ”That’s incredible! Is your base planning to make liquor?”

”No, we want to use the Wine Bamboo to produce alcohol for use as a disinfectant!” Ren Yuanyang shook his head.

It dawned on Wang Jun. ”I get it. I’ll go ask right now!”

He immediately contacted Nelson, the captain of the River Bird Fleet.

”Captain Nelson, hello. Do you happen to have seeds for a plant called Wine Bamboo in your seed bank?” Wang Jun asked, getting straight to the point.

Nelson paused for a second, then immediately replied, ”We definitely do!”
