Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 339: Chapter 208: Significant Effect, Relocating the Base

”That’s right. Once you see the effects of the medicine from Peach Blossom Base, you’ll understand just how incredible it is!” Long Zhan was at a loss for words, unable to properly describe the herb’s effects.

”Alright, then we’ll wait!” Wang Jun and Ji Yizhi replied in unison.

Meanwhile, aboard the Peach Blossom Base’s supply ship, all the patients had mostly recovered, and no new cases had appeared.

Hua Lingfang returned from the supply ship to the base office.

”Leader, have we started producing alcohol yet?” Hua Lingfang asked.

Ren Yuanyang shook his head. ”I’m waiting for the Wine Bamboo Seed. It can produce alcohol directly, which is far more convenient than brewing it ourselves!”

When Hua Lingfang had suggested using high-purity alcohol for disinfection, Ren Yuanyang’s first thought had also been to use microorganisms for fermentation. However, the production process involved more than just microbial fermentation; it required other complex procedures.

If it were just a matter of fermentation, Ren Yuanyang could enhance the yeast, even making it capable of producing alcohol in a high-concentration environment.

But the other steps would require a large crew to manage.

If he could get his hands on the Wine Bamboo, he would only need to enhance the concentration of the alcohol it produced. Then, he could have a continuous supply of alcohol at a specific proof—fast and convenient!

A 75% alcohol concentration is most effective for sterilization; any higher or lower, and it won’t achieve the optimal disinfectant effect.

If they produced alcohol via fermentation, they would need to constantly monitor the concentration and then perform either distillation or dilution.

Dilution would be relatively easy, but distillation would require specialized equipment.

In short, producing it with the Wine Bamboo would be far more convenient.

Hua Lingfang was momentarily stunned, but he quickly understood the reasoning.

”So, can the Wine Bamboo really produce 75% alcohol directly?” Hua Lingfang asked curiously.

”The original Wine Bamboo certainly can’t, but in my hands, it will!” Ren Yuanyang said with a faint smile.

Hua Lingfang froze for a second, then slapped his forehead. ”Of course! With you here, you can enhance any of a plant’s original functions!”

”You’ve had a long day. Go get some rest,” Ren Yuanyang said with a smile.

”I’m fine. I just went over to check on things, so I’m not tired at all,” Hua Lingfang said, shaking his head. ”This was the easiest time I’ve ever had treating patients.”

It was already past midnight. The day had been hectic: first, the Aircraft Carrier Base captured Dawn Base, and then an unknown virus emerged. Ren Yuanyang and his team had been busy all day.

Ren Yuanyang glanced at the time and said, ”It’s getting late. Even if you’re not tired, you should get some rest.”

Hua Lingfang glanced at the time as well and put away his laptop. ”Alright, I’ll head back then!”

The night passed uneventfully. The next morning at five, just as Ren Yuanyang was about to begin his daily Cultivation, he received a message from Long Zhan.

”Brother Yang, good morning! Our empty supply ship will reach Dawn Base in two hours. You can start sending your people over now!”

”Alright!” Ren Yuanyang replied, then continued to text, ”You’re up awfully early!”

”Don’t tell me you weren’t awake yet?” Long Zhan texted back with a laugh.

”Well, you woke me up!” Ren Yuanyang replied grumpily.

”Tsk, tsk. I’m so jealous! Plenty to eat, plenty to wear, you sleep well and wake up late!” Long Zhan lamented.

”What’s with all the jingles? You studying for an exam or something?” Ren Yuanyang pursed his lips. ”I’ll send my people over now. Get in touch with Haonan and give him your current location.”

”Okay, I’ll contact him in a minute,” Long Zhan replied.

Ren Yuanyang immediately placed a voice call to Qin Haonan.

It was a while before he picked up.

”Leader, good morning!” Qin Haonan’s voice came through the phone.

’He must have been up for a while,’ Ren Yuanyang thought. ’He probably just didn’t want to get nagged about studying, so he didn’t answer right away.’

”It’s already five. Shouldn’t you be up reciting the classics?” Ren Yuanyang asked, deliberately teasing him.

”It’s the crack of dawn. Can we please talk about something pleasant?” Qin Haonan’s voice was full of misery.

”Alright, alright. There’s a mission,” Ren Yuanyang said, smiling and shaking his head.

”What mission?” Qin Haonan’s voice was suddenly full of excitement.
