Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 316: Chapter 198: A Clever Move, Promoting the Dragon Language (Part 2)

After breakfast, Xin Wan went to gather information on James and his group.

She was pleasantly surprised to discover a ship engineer among them.

After registering everyone’s information, Xin Wan said to the ship engineer, ”Si Pu, come with me!”

Si Pu froze for a moment, then immediately nodded and followed her.

Xin Wan brought Si Pu to Ren Yuanyang and gave a brief introduction.

Ren Yuanyang looked at Si Pu and asked, ”Can you repair ships?”

Si Pu looked at Ren Yuanyang in confusion, and Xin Wan quickly translated.

Xin Wan’s parents had both worked abroad. Through immersion, her foreign language skills were also exceptional.

Si Pu finally understood and nodded. ”Yes, I know all about ships! But we don’t have all the right tools and parts right now. Some of the damage might be difficult to repair!”

After listening to Xin Wan’s translation, Ren Yuanyang replied with a smile, ”We can make the tools and parts ourselves. That’s what Evolvers are for!”

Si Pu was taken aback for a moment, then nodded. ”That’s right. I hadn’t considered using an Evolver’s Superpower to aid the shipbuilding industry!”

”Good. You will select a few apprentices to work with you. You’ll repair those damaged speedboats while teaching them about naval engineering,” Ren Yuanyang ordered.

Si Pu immediately understood Ren Yuanyang’s intentions. ’This person is planning for long-term development!’

’But once I teach these apprentices, will that be my death sentence?’

At this thought, Si Pu began to worry.

Ren Yuanyang seemed to have read his mind and continued, ”As long as you train a group of talent in naval engineering, you can be the head of the naval department!”

Upon hearing this, Si Pu’s eyes lit up. ’Being the head of the naval department here definitely has a future!’

”Please rest assured, sir, I will do my utmost to teach them!” Si Pu immediately replied. ”However, everyone’s ability to learn is different. Could I choose the apprentices myself?”

Ren Yuanyang smiled faintly. ”Don’t worry. Even the slowest learner here will be far better than any student you’ve ever had.”

Si Pu was completely stunned.

Ren Yuanyang didn’t explain further, instead saying, ”Xin Wan, take him to repair those speedboats.”

”Yes!” Xin Wan nodded and led Si Pu outside.

Although Si Pu was extremely surprised by everything, he knew this wasn’t the time for questions, so he could only suppress his astonishment.

Xin Wan brought him to the damaged speedboats, where Lu Jiamei was already waiting with a few people.

”You will all learn about naval engineering from him,” Lu Jiamei said, pointing at Si Pu. ”I’ve specially arranged a translator for you, but you must study hard and strive to communicate with him freely on your own in the future!”

”Yes!” the group replied in unison.

Meanwhile, Si Pu, unable to understand their conversation, felt a bit helpless. He said to Xin Wan, ”Minister Xin, do you have any learning materials for the Dragon Language? I’d like to study it.”

Hearing this, Xin Wan paused for a moment, then nodded. ”Yes, we do. I’ll put a copy on the supply ship so you all can study on your own!”

”Thank you so much, Minister Xin!” Si Pu said gratefully.

Si Pu immediately began inspecting the damaged speedboats, explaining the basics of naval engineering as he went.

After stationing two Evolvers to keep watch, Lu Jiamei and Xin Wan returned to the Banyan Forest.

”Leader, we should promote the Dragon Language in our base!” Xin Wan immediately found Ren Yuanyang to make a suggestion. ”Si Pu just asked to learn the Dragon Language on his own initiative, and it suddenly occurred to me—we can have all the foreigners learn the Dragon Language. It would make communication much more convenient, and we wouldn’t need a translator present at all times!”

Ren Yuanyang was slightly taken aback. He really hadn’t thought of that, mainly because the base had previously consisted only of Dragon Country People, so there were no communication barriers.

”Mm, that’s a good suggestion. Implement it immediately!” Ren Yuanyang nodded. ”Have all the foreigners on the supply ship start learning.”

”Yes, Leader!” Xin Wan responded, then began searching for Dragon Language tutorials on her computer.

Fortunately, the data from the Aircraft Carrier Base contained some relevant materials. Xin Wan just needed to copy and compile them to create a basic tutorial for the Dragon Language.

She then took her computer directly to the supply ship, downloaded the basic Dragon Language tutorial onto the ship’s computer, and made an announcement over the broadcast system.

”Attention all foreigners on board. A basic Dragon Language tutorial has been downloaded to the ship’s computer. We hope everyone will study hard so you can communicate freely with us soon!”

The announcement didn’t force them to learn. Whether they did or not would depend on their ability to recognize their reality.

Hearing this announcement, James and the others were stunned.

”Do we really have to learn the Dragon Language? The language of our Sea Eagle Country is the world’s common tongue!”

”At a time like this, what ’world’s common tongue’ is there? Whatever base you’re in, that base’s official language is the common tongue!”

”Yeah, the broadcast didn’t force us to learn, but if we don’t, we’ll probably be locked up until we die of old age!”

James heard everyone’s discussion, cleared his throat, and said, ”If we want to survive here, we have no choice!”

Everyone nodded in agreement.

Then, using the shipboard computer in their cabin, they opened the basic Dragon Language tutorial and began to study.

At that moment, aboard a speedboat from the River Bird Fleet docked at the Aircraft Carrier Base, the five members who had been injected with the Purification Potion successfully became Evolvers!

Hansen was shocked as he felt the immense power within his body. He then sent a message to Nelson, the captain of the River Bird Fleet.

”Captain, we all did become Evolvers, but I’m the only one who became a Wood-Type Evolver. The other four are two Strength-Type and two Agile-Type!” Hansen reported truthfully. ”The success rate of the Aircraft Carrier Base’s Purification Potion is indeed one hundred percent!”

Upon receiving this message, Nelson was also utterly shocked. He replied, ”Alright, I understand. Wait there for a moment. We will discuss this and then inform you of your next move.”

”Yes, sir!” Hansen replied in a low voice.

Nelson immediately convened a meeting with all his senior officers, sharing the situation with Hansen.

”All five of them succeeded? It seems Dragon Country’s technology really shouldn’t be underestimated!”

”In that case, I suggest we just make the trade. No matter what, the seeds we have can be exchanged for one hundred Purification Potions. That’s no small number!”

”We definitely have to trade, but how to trade is the problem!”

”Yeah, we’re too far from the Aircraft Carrier Base! We’ll need a large ship for all these seeds. It would take nearly a week for a large ship to get there, and with the return trip, that’s half a month!”

”That’s right, and our fuel supply is actually very tight, too!”

”It’s not just fuel. The ship making the trip would also need to be stocked with a large amount of fresh water!”

The River Bird Fleet suddenly realized that trading with the Aircraft Carrier Base was fraught with difficulties.

Just then, an aide suddenly spoke up. ”Captain, I heard that the Aircraft Carrier Base doesn’t seem to be short on fresh water?”

Nelson paused for a moment, then nodded. ”That’s right. They’re not short on fresh water. Hansen and the others can drink as much as they want over there.”

”If that’s the case, I suggest we relocate the entire base over there!” the old aide said in a low, serious voice.

”Relocate the base? No way! Our roots are here!”

”Roots? Do you know how much longer this torrential rain will last? Even if the rain stops, how long will it take for the floodwaters to recede? Since the flood began, no one on Blue Star has roots anymore. We’re all just Duckweed, adrift on the ocean’s surface! What difference does it make where we are?”

At that, everyone fell silent.

”That’s right,” Nelson said faintly. ”We can’t even be sure if we’re still over our own country’s territory anymore.”

”Captain, are you saying we should relocate?”
