Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 347: Chapter 212: Providing Manpower, Refusing Traditional Chinese Medicine (Part 2)

Of course, Peach Blossom Base still had to ensure it had the ability to weave cloth and make clothes, to prevent the Aircraft Carrier Base from getting them in a stranglehold over it.

”No problem. I’ll move the Aircraft Carrier Base’s various production lines over to Dawn Base!” Wang Jun agreed without hesitation.

”You arranged for so many supply ships and cargo freighters to come over this time, it’s a real shame you didn’t bring anything with you!” Ren Yuanyang said with a smile. ”It’s basically a wasted trip!”

”Not at all! All the animals from the Aircraft Carrier Base are on this fleet!” Wang Jun shook his head and replied. ”We only left behind some poultry and livestock.”

Ren Yuanyang was stunned for a moment. ”You’re bringing them over so soon? I don’t have the space to take them!”

”I’m just stashing them at Dawn Base for now,” Wang Jun explained. ”When you need them, you can pick them up directly from there. Dawn Base has plenty of large ships with more room. It’s also closer to you and makes getting feed more convenient, so it’s a better place to raise the animals.”

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”That’s true. In that case, thank you, Captain Wang!”

Wang Jun hurriedly waved his hand. ”We’re the ones who should be thanking you!”

”We’re all helping each other and growing together. There’s no need to be so formal!” Ren Yuanyang replied with a hearty laugh.

”Alright, just let me know if you need anything!” Wang Jun nodded in agreement.

After the two ended their call, Ren Yuanyang immediately walked out of his office.

”Xin Wan, organize people to harvest the fruit from the oil-producing trees—the more the better. The Aircraft Carrier Base has already arranged for cargo ships to come over. We’ll have them haul the fruit back and press it themselves!” Ren Yuanyang ordered.

Xin Wan was slightly taken aback, then immediately acknowledged the order and got up to make the arrangements.

James’s group was resting today, so they could only arrange for others to harvest the fruit.

Si Youqin’s team had harvested so much fruit that there was no more room in the Banyan Forest, so they had to pile it up on the supply ships.

When James and his group saw other people constantly harvesting fruit, they started discussing it curiously.

”Are they preparing the raw materials for the next pressing?”

”Definitely. But wow, there’s so much fruit on those oil-producing trees. We picked so many, and there are still more!”

”Looks like they’ll run out of space to pile it up soon!”

”Should we volunteer to work? I hear Dragon Country bosses like employees like that.”

”Let’s mention it to Captain Des and Captain James. We’ve been resting for so long, and this work is very easy. We’re more than capable of handling it!”

Des and James were also discussing the matter. When they heard the feedback from their men, they immediately decided to request work from the base!

James found Si Youqin and expressed his desire to work.

Si Youqin was taken aback for a moment, then replied, ”I’ll pass on the message for you. Just wait for further notice.”

”Thank you, Captain Si!” James said, cupping his hands.

Si Youqin waved her hand dismissively and reported James and his group’s request directly via her phone.

Ren Yuanyang was also surprised when he received the message, then replied with a smile, ”Let them rest well. It takes some time for those oil-producing trees to bear fruit again. We’ll talk about it tomorrow!”

Si Youqin relayed Ren Yuanyang’s words to James. James was taken aback for a moment, then nodded. ”Alright, I understand!”

After James went back and told Des and the others the news, everyone was surprisingly a little disappointed.

”Even if the base doesn’t have work for us, we can find something to do ourselves. Let’s all clean the ship’s cabins!” James suggested.

The group was stunned for a moment, then immediately nodded in agreement and got to work!

Meanwhile, at the Aircraft Carrier Base, the critically ill patients’ symptoms improved rapidly after taking the herbal decoction.

Although Wang Jun already knew about the miraculous effects of Peach Blossom Base’s decoction, he was still amazed when he received the report from the health department. He immediately ordered, ”Continue to promote the use of the decoction!”

”Yes, sir!” the Minister of Health immediately replied.

The first batch of herbs was prioritized for critically ill patients, and there was still a small portion left.

Dawn Base sent over another four speedboats full of herbs, so the remainder could be used more widely.

But this time, the rollout met with resistance.

”What? You’re giving me Chinese medicine? This is a viral infection, what the hell good is Chinese medicine for that?!”

”Exactly! Chinese medicine is so slow! I’d rather just tough it out on my own!”

”That soupy, watery stuff isn’t scientific at all. Anyway, I’m not taking it. Whoever wants it can have it! Just give me a few ibuprofen.”

Unlike the critically ill patients, these people still had the energy to object.

Hearing these patients’ objections, the Minister of Health frowned and said coldly, ”You can choose not to take it. But if your condition worsens in the future, don’t come asking us for medicine!”

”We just don’t want to use Chinese medicine. We still need Western medicine!” someone immediately clarified their position.

”Our base has a limited supply of Western medicine. We can provide some for now, but you should know that it will eventually run out!” the Minister of Health replied.

”As long as you provide Western medicine, I’m fine. I’m not taking Chinese medicine, period!” that person said at once.

”Fine. Then take a tally of the survivors who are explicitly refusing Chinese medicine. They will no longer be offered it in the future!” the Minister of Health ordered immediately.

”Yes, sir!” A soldier at his side immediately began taking the tally.

The Minister of Health shook his head helplessly and turned to walk toward Captain Wang’s office.

”Captain, some people are very resistant to using Chinese medicine. I’ve taken a count, and we will no longer provide it to them in the future.”

Hearing the Minister of Health’s words, Wang Jun was taken aback for a moment, then nodded. ”That’s fine. Everyone must be responsible for their own choices. For now, prioritize giving the herbs to patients who are willing to use Chinese medicine.”

”Yes, sir!”

After the tally, nearly fifty percent of patients were unwilling to use Chinese medicine, thirty percent were willing but preferred Western medicine, and only twenty percent prioritized Chinese medicine.

As a result, the entire current supply of Chinese medicine was given to that twenty percent of patients.

As time went on, the critically ill patients recovered their health rapidly. They learned from their doctors that their illness had actually been cured by a single dose of the herbal decoction!

”How is that possible? That’s not scientific!”

”Is the decoction from Chinese medicine really that amazing? Weren’t we told it was all a scam?”

”It’s a good thing they didn’t let me choose. Otherwise, I would have missed out on such a miracle drug!”

These formerly critical patients left the medical ship and returned to their own small boats to continue recovering, naturally spreading the news as they went.

”What? Your illness was cured by that Chinese medicine decoction? You’re not shills for the leadership, are you? Are you just saying that to get us to use the decoction?”

”Believe it or not. I was really sick before. I was in a daze, but I definitely drank a bowl of decoction. It’s only been three or four hours, and look at me now. Don’t I look great?”

”You said yourself you were in a daze. Maybe it wasn’t the decoction!”

”He was in a daze, but I wasn’t. I only drank the decoction two hours ago, and my condition is already improving!”

The second group of patients who drank the decoction were already showing signs of improvement!

”That’s bullshit! Not even Western medicine works that fast!”

”Western medicine? It’s just a product of a few hundred years of industrialization! How could it possibly compare to our five-thousand-year-old tradition of Chinese medicine?!”

”No matter what you say, Chinese medicine isn’t scientific!”

”You don’t know jack squat. You say Chinese medicine isn’t scientific, so let me ask you: have you ever studied Chinese medicine? Have you ever read the *Huangdi Neijing*?”

”It’s not scientific, so why would I study it?”

”So, what you’re saying is, you know absolutely nothing about Chinese medicine, yet you just parrot others who say it’s unscientific? Can’t you have a mind of your own? Even if you approach it with a critical eye, you should at least read the classical texts, find the parts you think are unscientific, and then argue your point. That’s what a logical person would do!”

”Stop arguing! A guy who lives next to me drank the decoction, and he’s already better! Scientific or not, the effect is just miraculous!”

”Yeah, someone over here recovered too. Too bad I signed up for Western medicine. Dammit, if I’d known the Chinese medicine was this effective, I would have taken it too!”

As the patients who used the decoction gradually recovered, more and more survivors began to have regrets.

Of course, some survivors still staunchly refused to believe it was due to the decoction’s effects.

But at that moment, a public statement from Wang Jun to everyone at the Aircraft Carrier Base began to sway them.

”Hello, to all survivors. I know some of you don’t believe in Chinese medicine because modern science can’t explain it. But what I want to say is this: the herbal decoction we are currently using at our base has been clinically tested. Regardless of the severity of the illness, a single dose is enough to bring about a full recovery. So far, we have found no exceptions.”

Seeing the message posted by Wang Jun, everyone fell silent.
