Elevator Survival: Master of Every Floor

Set up campAfter walking for another hour, Lin Feng still couldn’t find a water source, but his clothes were completely soaked with moisture.

His wet clothes clung tightly to his skin, causing extreme discomfort.

Lin Feng had no choice but to take off his shirt and continue walking bare-chested.

It should be a little past eleven in the morning now.

He decided to explore more while it was still daytime.

Just then, Lin Feng, using his Eagle Eye’s sixteen-times magnification, spotted what looked like a range of mountains in the distance.

After confirming it was a large mountain range, Lin Feng immediately found a goal to move towards; there would likely be water there, and it would be flowing.

The mountains in the distance were about twenty kilometers away, and at his speed, it wouldn’t take long to walk there.

Lin Feng thought to himself, then quickened his pace.

Along the way, Lin Feng found eight edible wild fruits, about the size of a fist, with a sweet and sour pulp and plenty of moisture.

These wild fruits not only replenished Lin Feng’s sugar levels but also a large amount of water, which was quite good for a survival situation.

”Hiss, something’s not right, how can such a large grassland not have a single large wild animal??”

Lin Feng had now walked nearly thirty kilometers on this grassland, only seeing some small animal burrows.

He surmised they belonged to rabbits or rats.

Other than that, he hadn’t found any traces of large creatures.

.........

Two hours later, it was roughly one in the afternoon, also the hottest time of the day.

Although Lin Feng wasn’t afraid of high temperatures, walking around under the scorching sun would be uncomfortable for anyone; fortunately, he finally reached the foot of the mountain.

Walking twenty kilometers in two hours was not difficult for Lin Feng, but his internal energy was being consumed rather quickly.

After looking around at the foot of the mountain, Lin Feng suddenly heard the sound of flowing water.

”Water?”

Lin Feng’s voice held a hint of anticipation, and he quickly ran in the direction of the sound.

He saw a small stream flowing down from the mountain, lying quietly before Lin Feng.

”Hahahahaha, my prediction was indeed correct!”

Because it was flowing water, Lin Feng didn’t hesitate; he knelt by the stream and took several large gulps.

The cold stream water slid down his throat, and Lin Feng immediately let out a sound of pure satisfaction.

”Ah! So refreshing.”

After quenching his thirst, Lin Feng carefully observed the area around the stream.

The water source here shouldn’t be abundant, so he wouldn’t be the only one needing to drink from it.

If he wanted to set up camp, it would be best to be some distance from the stream.

If he set up camp directly beside the stream, he might be visited by carnivorous animals in the middle of the night.

Although Lin Feng wasn’t afraid, it didn’t mean he wanted to be attacked by wild beasts every day.

Therefore, site selection was very important; ultimately, Lin Feng decided to place his camp in an open area eighty meters away from the stream.

After placing the collected dry wood on the ground to dry, Lin Feng got up again to search for food.

The sun was still quite strong, so the dry wood he collected should dry quickly, and then he could start a fire.

Arriving at the stream, Lin Feng didn’t find any fish or similar creatures in it; this stream should have formed from rainwater gathering at the mountain top and would disappear if it didn’t rain for a long time, so the absence of fish was normal.

Although he couldn’t find food to supplement his protein, Lin Feng still found some wild fruits in the woods at the foot of the mountain.

And a rat or rabbit burrow.

After noting down this burrow, Lin Feng returned to camp, carrying the picked wild fruits.

These wild fruits were likely blueberries, only about the size of a fingernail, with a very nice sweet and sour taste.

Subsequently, Lin Feng spent another hour collecting wood from the ground, prioritizing deadwood, of course.

After all, this stuff dries quickly in the sun.

Returning to camp, the previously dried deadwood was now very dry; taking off the already bone-dry withered grass from his head, Lin Feng found half a piece of deadwood and a straight stick.

Sharpening one end of the stick, Lin Feng began to make fire by friction.

This was his first time attempting to make fire by friction.

It wasn’t as simple as he imagined; even he took almost an hour to successfully obtain tinder.

It was much slower than using glass to make fire on the isolated island last time, and it was also very physically demanding.

After carefully placing the hard-won spark into the tinder, Lin Feng quickly cupped it and blew gently.

Ensuring sufficient airflow inside the tinder.

Soon, under his careful attention, the tinder began to smoke heavily, and a flame successfully ignited.

”Hahahaha, finally got it!”

After carefully placing the flame on the ground, Lin Feng grabbed a handful of dried withered grass and placed it on top; once the flame grew larger, he began to add wood.

This time, he still made a star-shaped campfire.

This type of campfire burns very efficiently, and the heat it produces is sufficient for Lin Feng to warm himself at night.

Once the fire was stable, Lin Feng picked up a half-burnt stick and went to the burrow he had just discovered.

After his careful investigation, he found a total of five entrances; after blocking three, Lin Feng inserted the smoking stick into one of the entrances, then waited by the last entrance to catch whatever came out.

Judging by the width of this burrow, it was most likely inhabited by rabbits.

If all went well, he would be eating delicious roasted rabbit meat tonight, hehehe.

A few minutes later, two prairie dogs poked their heads out of the burrow and crawled out.

Lin Feng, hiding nearby, saw this and immediately grabbed one in each hand, picking up these two large rodents.

Although they weren’t rabbits, prairie dogs were roughly the same size as wild rabbits.

”Squeak!! Squeak squeak squeak!”

Feeling the struggling prey in his hands, Lin Feng chuckled and quickly returned to camp.

Tools for processing carcasses were easy to find.

There were many smoothed stones in the stream, and Lin Feng quickly found a handy stone knife.

After a simple sharpening on a stone, the stone knife became sharp.

Returning to camp, he processed the two large rodents, then skewered them with sticks and placed them beside the campfire to roast slowly.

At this point, the sun was also about to set.

The temperature gradually dropped.

At night, the temperature would probably drop below ten degrees Celsius; Lin Feng could only sleep on the ground tonight, and tomorrow he would collect more dry grass to dry and make a simple bed.

By now, the two large rodents were roasted a bit charred; upon tearing them open, the meat inside was very tender.

It should be cooked.

Picking up a piece of meat and putting it in his mouth, he savored it; the tender meat melted in his mouth, but the taste wasn’t great.

The two large rodents were quickly consumed by Lin Feng.

The amount of meat from these two large rodents sounded like a lot, but in reality, after eating them, Lin Feng was only about two-tenths full.
