Elevator Survival: Master of Every Floor

Household robots are all equipped with machine guns, right?PS: The chapter numbers were incorrect earlier and have been fixed.

”Household service robot?”

Lin Feng squatted down to look at the rusty mini-robot in front of him.

”Hello, sir, how may I address you?”

”Just call me Lin Feng.”

”Understood, Mr. Lin Feng.”

It seemed this robot was a friendly type, which was perfect since Lin Feng could use it to understand why this world had become a wasteland.

The more information Lin Feng gathered, the better he would be able to survive.

”Can you tell me what happened to this world?”

”Yes, sir.”

...........

After more than ten minutes of explanation from 101, Lin Feng had a general understanding of the situation in this world.

Due to war, humans developed combat robots. After the war ended, humans continued to develop in the field of robotics, and in a short time, every household had service robots.

Even most of the Soldier in military bases were robots, because they believed robots were more reliable than humans; as long as they were programmed, they would never betray.

Most importantly, robots didn’t require training; they only needed combat modules implanted to gain near-perfect marksmanship and top-tier combat skills.

The company that developed the robots set three protocols for all of them.

Protocol One: Obey humans.

Protocol Two: Protect humans.

Protocol Three: Robots should serve as tools to assist humans.

Originally, with these three protocols, robots could have been very useful tools for humanity, but then an accident occurred.

A newly developed robot escaped from a laboratory. Later, that robot developed self-awareness through its powerful learning ability and altered the protocol content.

And then came the war between robots and humans.

However, due to the small number and poor quality of human Soldier, they were scattered within a few years by the robot army.

Cities also turned into ruins because of the war.

However, this did not mean humanity was extinct. In some previously uninhabited places, there were human-built safe zones, and the surviving humans could only hide in these safe zones, waiting for a chance to turn the tide.

.......

Robots like 101 were lucky; their protocols hadn’t been tampered with, so they still adhered to the old protocols.

”Since you’re a household robot, you probably don’t have offensive capabilities, right?”

Lin Feng asked, looking at the little guy in front of him.

”No, Mr. Lin Feng, we also have a certain level of home defense capability.”

As it spoke, a light machine gun slowly extended from the top of the robot.

This operation completely stunned Lin Feng.

Seriously, buddy, you call this a household robot???

Alright, alright, so the local customs are simple, huh?

But having an assistant who doesn’t need to eat is also pretty good.

”Oh, right, 101, do you run on electricity or oil?”

”Both are fine. Currently, my remaining battery life is very sufficient, no need to worry.”

”Okay, let’s go. We’ll go upstairs and see if there’s anything to eat.”

There was nothing of value on the third and fourth floors, so Lin Feng simply searched them briefly before preparing to go to the fifth floor.

Although the escalators and emergency exits on the fifth floor had all collapsed, it didn’t pose a challenge for Lin Feng.

After telling 101 to wait for him on the fourth floor, Lin Feng easily climbed onto the fifth floor by stepping on the ruins.

As soon as Lin Feng got to the fifth floor, he smelled a strong stench of decay.

Following the source of the smell, Lin Feng arrived at a high-end restaurant.

Pushing open the door, the smell of decaying corpses swept over him.

Inside the restaurant, there were only human corpses.

It seemed this place on the fifth floor used to be a small shelter.

After all, the fifth floor was a restaurant, with ample food and water.

Plus, being on the top floor, it would be very safe as long as the path leading up was destroyed.

Unfortunately, they underestimated this disaster and ultimately all died here.

Closing the door, Lin Feng meticulously searched the fifth floor.

However, he didn’t find a single thing.

The only edible thing might have been the maggots on the corpses.

Lin Feng would absolutely not try such a thing unless he was on the verge of starvation.

Taking a bite of an energy bar, Lin Feng returned to the fourth floor.

And then he left the mall with 101.

After all that effort, he only gained a backpack and some clothes.

After finishing the remaining energy bar, Lin Feng found a cool spot and continued to study the map.

”Forget it, I’ll just go by feeling.”

This map was a paper map, not very detailed, and he didn’t know how old it was.

Many things might not have been marked.

After a brief rest, Lin Feng put on his backpack again and walked along the road.

101 followed closely behind, its machine gun on top rotating 360 degrees.

”Hmm? Is that a human ahead?”

Looking at the distant figure, Lin Feng quickly used his Eagle Eye skill to see.

However, it was not a human, but a humanoid robot, exactly like the one that attacked Lin Feng.

The difference was that this humanoid robot had an assault rifle in its hand.

He definitely had to take it down.

”101, do you see the combat robot ahead?”

Lin Feng said, holding 101 above his head.

”I see it.”

”Can your weapon kill it?”

”Completely, Mr. Lin Feng.”

”Good, then I’ll leave it to you.”

”Understood, Mr. Lin Feng. My weapon has a short range, so I need to get closer.”

Upon receiving the order, 101 immediately moved forward, using the natural cover in the ruins and its small size, successfully approaching the combat robot.

And slowly aimed its gun at it.

Bang bang bang bang bang bang—

It truly was a combat robot; the moment the gunshots rang out, it locked onto 101, which was ambushing it.

However, the incoming bullets still hit its body, and Lin Feng, of course, wouldn’t stand by idly.

Bang!

With a gunshot, the combat robot’s head was instantly shattered.

After a burst of electrical sparks, it fell to the ground.

Picking up the weapon from the ground, Lin Feng immediately fled the street with 101.

Sure enough, not long after, a bomber flew from a distance.

Its target was the exact location they had just been.

”Oh, right, 101, if you saw humans attacking each other, what would you do?”

Lin Feng asked curiously, as according to what it said, Protocol One and Protocol Two were in conflict.

”I would try my best to prevent such a thing. If I couldn’t prevent it, I would choose to report it.”

”What if your master told you to kill another person?”

”If that person is a criminal or an enemy, I will complete the task. If it’s an innocent person, I will refuse.”
