Chapter 148: Chapter 147 You See How Miserable I Am

Chapter 147 Look How Miserable I Am

Just when Su Ni regained her consciousness, Lin Zifeng decisively pulled his tongue back and sprinted towards the crowd, shouting to ingratiate himself, ”Wife, I’m going home to cook for you. Come back home after work. Don’t let your husband wait too long.”

Saying this, Lin Zifeng, like Zhou Xingchi in a Kung Fu movie scene eating steamed buns, resolutely dashed home, running so fast that he was undoubtedly more intensely real than a hurdler named Liu.

When Su Ni suddenly came to, several elderly men and women came forward to praise, ”Girl, your husband really can’t be faulted; he even goes home early to cook something tasty for you. You should cherish such a husband and make sure no other woman snatches him away. A good man is always coveted by others.”

Su Ni’s expression grew colder and colder, almost exploding with her fiery temper as she shouted, ”Bastard! I’m going to kill you! You bastard!”

Instantly, the faces of those present changed to an extremely weird expression. It seemed they had been completely mistaken; despite all they said, this girl did not take in a single word and instead was going home to kill her husband! Such a woman was really too violent.

...

Back at home, Lin Zifeng habitually avoided the main entrance and entered by scaling the wall instead.

Opening the door, he found Nangong Shui leisurely cracking sunflower seeds.

The old man greeted him with a smiling face.

He lewdly chuckled, ”So how was it? Did you manage to sweep my daughter off her feet today? How do you feel? Boy, you’re really awesome. When I was your age, I definitely didn’t have even half your capability.”

The old rascal sounded like a dodgy old man inciting someone to commit a crime.

Lin Zifeng was also frustrated. Where in the world would you find a dad who hoped his own daughter would be taken advantage of by someone else? Could it be that Nangong Bing was not his biological daughter?

”It’s exactly the opposite of what you’re thinking. Look, Nangong, I think your precious daughter is too much for me to handle. You might as well find her someone else,” Lin Zifeng said nonchalantly as he plopped down on the sofa.

”What happened? Weren’t you guys fine when you went out? How come it turned out like this now? Besides, when I asked my daughter just as she came back, she said it was not bad. Could it be that today’s date was a failure?” Nangong Shui was also very anxious. In his opinion, if even Lin Zifeng couldn’t win his daughter’s affection, probably no one in the world could win Nangong Bing’s heart.

”Did you do something wrong, or didn’t you do as I told you? That’s impossible. Knowing my daughter, if you had genuinely complimented her tirelessly, I think she would have at least had a better impression of you, not this cold and indifferent attitude.” But Nangong Shui only knew one side of the story, ignorant of how Lin Zifeng had offended Nangong Bing these past few days.

Now every time they met, they started bickering right away. Neither was willing to give in to the other. You couldn’t really say Lin Zifeng didn’t let her have her way; in his own opinion, he had already accommodated this miss quite enough, but her temper was just too capricious. He was expected to trail her like a servant all day long, prancing around like a little pony which Lin Zifeng simply couldn’t do.

”Forget it, old man Nangong, you don’t need to worry about this anymore. Children and grandchildren will create their own happiness, you know. You’re at an age where you should be sorting out your own affairs first.”

Lin Zifeng had his own problems to clean up, so where would he find the leisure to woo his daughter? Although they were betrothed from childhood, Nangong Bing was utterly unwilling; was he supposed to force her into it?

”Hey, you little rascal, after all, I’ve put a lot of effort into it, and you can’t disregard my feelings. Even if I have no credits to take, still, there were hardships, and if not hardships, at least fatigue, right? I was living well in Southeast Asia, and I returned only because I couldn’t stop worrying about you two. I’m already old, you should at least let me hold my grandson and enjoy some happiness, shouldn’t you?”

”Cut it out, with your little tricks, do you really think I don’t know what’s up? You just can’t stop worrying about your daughter’s safety, right? Nicely put, it’s about me fulfilling a childhood marriage arrangement, but actually, it’s about me protecting your daughter, am I wrong?”

For Old Nangong, no one understood him better than Lin Zifeng. However, the only thing Zifeng couldn’t figure out was why he was in such a hurry to settle his daughter officially. Even if he wanted to protect his daughter, it shouldn’t be done this way.

Actually, Nangong Shui’s purpose for having Lin Zifeng come to Tianyu was indeed to have him protect Nangong Bing’s safety. After all, Lin Zifeng’s reputation internationally was still somewhat intact. Given his title as the ’King of Hiring,’ no matter how diminished, he was still stronger than any average bodyguard. On the other hand, Nangong Shui truly felt that Lin Zifeng’s character was decent, and he felt relieved entrusting his daughter to Zifeng.

After all, as one grows old, one thinks more than younger people do.

”Actually, I think Huahua is quite nice. She looks okay and is especially cute. I don’t know if you’ve noticed?”

Lin Zifeng, puffing leisurely on a cigarette, stared with a half-smile at Nangong Shui’s face that had already changed color.

”Boy! Let me tell you, you can think about anyone, but never set your sights on Huahua. She’s your future little aunt by marriage. If you have any conscience at all, you’ll behave yourself.” The old man was angry.

As soon as Lin Zifeng brought up Huahua, the old guy said absolutely not.

”That’s uncertain. Who knows, maybe your little granddaughter has taken a fancy to me. Since Huahua is easier to deceive than your daughter, maybe I might change my taste,” Lin Zifeng didn’t care about Old Nangong’s expression at all. You’re trying to trick me, okay, I’ll trick you too.

”Hehe, Zifeng, actually my Bingbing isn’t as bad as you imagine. If you’re willing to spend more time, maybe you two can make it. Look at me, I’m old and everyone else is enjoying their grandchildren, while I’m still lonely and exhausted outside, think about how sad that makes me, you see how pitiful I am, even if you don’t think about the young one, you should think about the old man here, me.”

Seeing that Lin Zifeng was unyielding either way, Nangong Shui immediately switched the act, adopting a pitiful face as sad as could be, playing the emotional card with Zifeng.

It seems this old guy switched tactics when one didn’t work.

”Er... you really have no shame,” Lin Zifeng looked at him with utter disdain.

”Just treat it as though I have no shame. I never had much to begin with, think about how miserable I am at this old age.” Nangong Shui wasn’t foolish, understanding Lin Zifeng’s preference for a softer approach, he eagerly adopted a miserable look.

”Alright, alright, since it’s like this, let’s see what your daughter’s attitude towards me is. If she has some fondness for me, then I’ll just consider it taking a loss.”

Oh come on! You taking a loss? My Bingbing has both looks and figure, marrying you would be your incredible fortune gained over eight lifetimes. Acting all high and mighty for what? If it weren’t for my reliable reputation, no way would I hand my daughter over to you.

Seeing Lin Zifeng acting as if he was at a loss, Nangong Shui gave him a highly disdainful look. However, he didn’t show that on his face, still keeping a pitiful expression.
