Chapter 118: You Still Don’t Know My Skills

”Are you suggesting there’s a mole in the company?” Nangong Bing furrowed his brows, half-doubtful.

However, based on her understanding of the company, what Lin Zifeng said wasn’t entirely unreasonable, but she herself didn’t want to believe it was true.

”Hehe, boss, whether there’s a mole or not, I think you should be clearer about it than I am.”

”Oh! Let’s hear it then, see if what you say makes sense.”

Nangong Bing actually became interested, wondering if the mole he mentioned was the same person he was thinking of.

”Holy smokes! Boss, aren’t you just shortening my lifespan on purpose? Just imagine, if today I were to say who it is, hehe, boss, do you really think I could keep working at the company tomorrow? Aren’t you just playing with me? Moreover, I haven’t pointed out anyone specifically, just roughly guessed.”

Lin Zifeng had to consider this for his own safety. Although he already had an idea, heaven knows if Nangong Bing would also drag him out in the end; not only would others be fine, but he probably wouldn’t be able to stay any longer.

”So, what’s your suggestion? I don’t think our security department can be completely blameless when so many computers have been missing without reason, especially given the importance of these computers. Do you know that?”

”Err... Boss, it seems like it’s not entirely my fault, right? Besides, Comrade Huang Daming is the head of the security team. You don’t go to him; you come to me, what good am I? Besides, I’m just a deadbeat security guard. Don’t pick on me.”

”Hmph! Do you think Captain Huang is as idle as you every day? He is the chief designer of the entire security system at Tianyu Group, and he has to deal with all the security system flaws daily. If we had to bother him with such trivial matters, what would we need you security guards for? Do you really think we just let you stand guard and that’s it? Ha! If you think so, Mr. Lin, I tell you, you are wrong. The company definitely doesn’t foster idlers, let alone those who loiter around in the company idly waiting for death!”

Nangong Bing seemed to be directing all these words at Lin Zifeng, even the way he looked at him was different.

Nevertheless, Lin Zifeng felt something odd when he heard it.

”Listening to you, boss, is Huang Daming really our company’s busy man? Do we lower-level security guards mean nothing then? If your words are aimed at me personally, I have no excuse. If it’s directed at the entire security department, then I must speak up,

If it weren’t for us lower-level guards, could Huang Daming sit in that position as head of the security team? In terms of seniority, Jia Zhenjing from our security department is indeed an old-timer at the company, right?

He has been with the company for fifteen years; regardless, if not for merit, then for hard work, right? In terms of achievements, Zheng Liang from our security department guards Tianyu’s East Gate tirelessly every day, no matter the weather, always steadfast at his post. What do you think he does it for?”

As he spoke, Lin Zifeng took a deep drag of his cigarette, feeling the bitter and pungent taste fill his lungs before slowly exhaling.

”These people, with elders above and children below, rely on a meager monthly salary of three thousand. What are they doing this for, boss, do you know? Nowadays, as long as one is willing to endure hardship and make an effort, isn’t a salary of three thousand a month seemingly everywhere? Because they have already considered Tianyu their home,”

They weren’t here for a meager salary of three thousand yuan, but for the reputation and glory of Tianyu! You should understand that, Sir, most of the elite white-collar workers came for you. I think no one understands this better than you. Tianyu had its glorious days as well as its falls, but over these years, it still stands unyielding. Do you know why?

Because those elderly security guards at the bottom know that the Tianyu Group will rise again. Throughout these years, no matter how well the company progressed, have they ever asked for any benefits?

Have they ever complained? Have they ever spoken ill of Tianyu? Because they take pride in Tianyu! To be able to work in Tianyu, even as mere security guards, they hold pride in Tianyu! No job is lesser than another, everyone should be equal, and that includes Huang Daming!”

While saying these words, Lin Zifeng’s feelings were complex. Perhaps bringing up Huang Daming made Lin Zifeng somewhat displeased, as during his days in the company, in his view, Huang Daming was nothing more than a sycophant who liked to boast and curry favor in the security department,

taking advantage of Nangong Bing’s favoritism towards him. He really viewed himself too highly. If it’s said that Lin Zifeng was merely coasting by, Lin Zifeng had nothing to say, but if the older security members were also involved, then Lin Zifeng, despite everything, still possessed some spirit.

Especially every time he saw Zheng Liang standing guard fearlessly at the gate despite the adversities, Lin Zifeng felt somewhat distressed, realizing that such a man was relegated to gatekeeping for these city folks and still had to act according to the moods of corporate higher-ups, which was indeed sad.

”Lin... Lin Zifeng.” Nangong Bing was a bit stunned, surprised by Lin Zifeng’s unusual mood today. When Lin Zifeng spoke those words earlier, his aura seemed to transform, as if he became someone else.

Nangong Bing now felt somewhat at a loss. She didn’t mean it that way; she did not look down on the personnel in the security department, but she meant to say that Huang Daming had a special status and his job nature was different. For a minor matter like the warehouse, it wasn’t feasible to have Huang Daming personally handle it, particularly given his background as a top Special Soldier who had also served as a personal bodyguard, not only superior in military skills but also presumably in his general qualities compared to the average person.

”Lin... I, I didn’t mean it that way.”

Nangong Bing realized that her tone might have been too harsh earlier. She wasn’t the type who disregarded others’ lives and well-being. Similarly, Nangong Bing was extremely protective and treated everyone equally, no matter her position in the company.

”Heh, Sir, whether you meant it or not, let’s just let it go. Since you’ve apologized to me, I’ll forgive you.” Saying this, Lin Zifeng chuckled and took a drag of his cigarette, then grinned and took a swig of his drink, laughing, ”Don’t worry, Sir, I’ll handle this perfectly for you. You don’t know about my skills? I guarantee your satisfaction.” After finishing, Lin Zifeng winked at Nangong Bing and then strode out of the room.

Apologize? Guarantee your satisfaction?

Nangong Bing was a bit stunned, still not having fully grasped the situation.

Apologize? What did I do wrong? Why should I apologize to him?

”Lin! What did I, Nangong Bing, do wrong? When did I apologize to you? What did you mean by your earlier words? What about knowing your skills? Dammit, Lin!”

When Nangong Bing finally came to her senses, Lin Zifeng had already swiftly left the scene...
