Chapter 117: Chapter 117 Why Don’t You Just Go Die?

Chapter 117 Why Don’t You Just Die

”All day I drift in thoughts of becoming yours, bitterly regretting and recalling the past, when we next meet away from home, I shall bow my head and carry eternity.” Nangong Bing, lost in myriad thoughts, gazed somberly and profoundly at the Tianyu Group’s panoramic view.

Looking at the bustling cityscape before her, Nangong Bing actually became interested in composing poetry. Truly worthy of being a high achiever from Stanford in the United States.

Just then, Lin Zifeng, after finishing a sip of xo, came over quietly and exclaimed, ”My goodness! Boss, you really are in the mood, even composing poetry! You truly are a rare woman of both beauty and wisdom!”

”Ah!”

The sudden appearance of Lin Zifeng scared Nangong Bing so much that her face lost color, and she quickly cried out, thinking something unexpected had happened.

”You!”

When she saw clearly who it was, Nangong Bing’s cold eyes refocused as if she had seen the most detestable villain in the world.

”Er... I mean, Boss! Why do you look at me as if seeing a villain? Actually, I think I look quite kind-hearted. Please don’t look at me with such a dreadful gaze; it makes me feel really scared.”

As he spoke, Lin Zifeng put on a scared face and even shrank his neck, showing an expression of being frightened by her, which was as annoying as it was pitiful.

His abrupt voice nearly made Nangong Bing scream, especially since she had just been lost in thought. Being startled like that by someone while deep in thought indeed wasn’t a pleasant thing.

”Who let you in?”

Nangong Bing was visibly angry, her eyes that just a moment before were tender now turned instantly cold upon seeing Lin Zifeng, and from them, Lin could even feel a bone-chilling frostiness.

Had the boss become infatuated again? Just because I happened to overhear her reciting poetry, is she starting to make things difficult for me now? That’s really unfair.

Just a while ago, she kept urging me to come back, and now? No sooner had I returned than she started making things difficult for me? Isn’t this too unjust?

Lin Zifeng felt helpless and miserable, working under such an employer was indeed not a perfect aspect of life.

”Boss, weren’t you the one calling me repeatedly to come back just now? So why? Here I am back and you’re giving me that look. Did I return too late? Heh heh, it was only half an hour late. You looked quite comfortable sitting here reciting poetry.”

Lin Zifeng didn’t know whether he was intentionally dragging out the topic. He pointed at the one-way glass window of the office and said, ”Boss, since when did you have such poetic flair that you could even play with composing poetry. Hmm, just now I was listening carefully, something about ’all day I drift in thoughts of becoming yours’...Boss, don’t tell me your heart is fluttering. Uh... that’s no good, you are supposed to be my future wife. How can you be thinking of someone else? If your old man finds out, he’d be livid!”

Looking at this blabbermouth in front of her, Nangong Bing was so angry she was itching to set her teeth on edge. Not only was he inept at his job, but he also loved to battle her wit. If heaven could grant her a wish, Nangong Bing’s first wish would be to have this weirdo vanish far from her sight, no, to disappear forever. She never wanted to see this buzzing fly by her ears and eyes ever again!

Especially since she had just been lost in thinking and had unintentionally composed what seemed like a limerick, and it just so happened to be overheard by someone! Oh dear! Was this guy truly the burdensome fate that she couldn’t shake off?

Watching this scoundrel buzzing about, and what was most infuriating was that he was drinking her treasured xo vintage intended only for display, Nangong Bing was so angry she almost couldn’t stand it and truly wanted to kick him far away.

”Er... Boss, what’s with that look in your eyes?” Seeing Nangong Bing looking tragically at the xo in his hand, Lin Zifeng suddenly felt a strong surge in his heart. Surely drinking one bottle of her wine couldn’t make her so petty? This...this is just too stingy.

”Boss, you’re not mad because I drank a bottle of your wine, are you? You...you’re way too stingy. If it makes it any better, I’ll treat you next time; I’ll buy you a whole case if that’s fine.”

Lin Zifeng had an air of grandeur about him, as if the drink he’d had was just a typical, cheap drink, worth at most thirty yuan! Maybe it was even a counterfeit.

”Why don’t you just go die?”

Nangong Bing finally couldn’t hold back and exploded.

She had not been in a great mood these past few days, struggling with insomnia, and here was Lin Zifeng, hitting right where it hurt most! How could this not make her feel embarrassed and furious? More importantly, was I talking about the wine? Would I, the president of Tianyu Group, really care about you having one bottle of my wine? You jerk, why does every time I see you, the joy in my belly turns into anger?

How is it that... like him, the man of my dreams, although both are humans, the difference is so vast?

”Er...what, uh, what will you do if I die?” Lin Zifeng actually feared she might really lose her temper then and there, and that could spell real disaster for him. He mumbled quietly as if to vent.

”Right, Boss, I was wondering why you wanted to see me today? Could it be you’re inviting me to have a couple of drinks or just a casual dinner?”

Lin Zifeng inappropriately pulled out a cigarette and started smoking leisurely, which instantly made Nangong Bing’s anger skyrocket!

Since he had taken the position of president, no one had dared to drink or smoke in his office. It seemed this guy was practically a founding father.

Hmph, important business? What important business could I possibly have with you? With those scrawny arms and legs of yours, could you really do something earth-shattering and soul-stirring?

The moment Lin Zifeng started asking about the incident, Nangong Bing sneered inwardly, finding his question utterly ridiculous! As ridiculous as one could imagine.

Initially, today, he had intended to use the theft of the computer in the public relations department as an opportunity to fire this bastard, but just then his father, Nangong Shui, had called. He was in the middle of an election in Malaysia and had cautioned him against causing any troublesome incidents.

It seemed he couldn’t fire him now. If he fired him now, who knew what outrageous things this weirdo might do. If he really went berserk, it might even create a huge commotion in the company. Not only would his own reputation be damaged, but it might also adversely affect his father’s election in Malaysia.

Now, he could only make him step back gradually. He could make him leave voluntarily. After freeloading off him for so many days, he had had enough of his nonsense, and it was now time for him to pay the price.

Thinking about Lin Zifeng begging pitifully with a frowning face, asking to be allowed to stay, Nangong Bing felt secretly thrilled. After all, he was his boss; not only did he have status, but he also had his own temper and pride. How could he allow such a small fry to act recklessly with him?

”Do you know that there has recently been a theft in the security department’s warehouse?” Nangong Bing was extremely calm and composed, her years of battling in the business world had shaped her extraordinary temperament and magnanimous style. Nevertheless, being a woman, she had her personal emotions.

”A theft at the warehouse?”

Lin Zifeng’s calm and resolute face twitched slightly. Calmly smoking his cigarette, he had thought this would shock the man, who would then desperately explain that he had nothing to do with it.

But surprisingly, Lin Zifeng was simple and calm.

Nangong Bing’s eyes lit up, musing to herself, not bad! The theft in the warehouse was directly related to the security department, yet he remained unfazed, showing no fear or anxiety. It seemed his psychological quality was quite impressive.

The theft was due to a flaw in the security system, not because Lin Zifeng himself had stolen anything. Of course, he could remain expressionless, calm as water. Did she expect him to embarrass himself by desperately explaining how uninvolved he was? That would really give the game away.

”The recent distribution of materials by the public relations department was a trial decision made by our senior board to see if the performance would improve after distributing the computers. But now, the materials haven’t even reached the public relations department and have been stolen. So, who should be responsible for this?”

Nangong Bing’s demeanor suddenly changed, sitting as steady as a mountain in the boss’s chair, her pretty face without makeup didn’t even twitch an eyebrow, her serene composure surpassed even that of Lin Zifeng.

”What do you mean by that, boss?”

Lin Zifeng glanced at Nangong Bing, feeling like her accusation was aimed straight at his department.

This should have something to do with Huang Daming, why is she confronting me? I’m not like a head of the security department or anything.

”Do you think these items can still be recovered?” Nangong Bing half-closed her eyes, delicately holding her fingers like an orchid, and sipped her tea quietly.

Waiting to see what kind of excuses Lin Zifeng would come up with.

But Lin Zifeng simply answered, ”They can’t be recovered.”

”Reason?”

”No reason.”

”You say they can’t be recovered without a reason? Are you just being lazy or do you genuinely not care about the company’s property security?”

”Heh, boss, why don’t you understand what I mean? Think about it, a large group like Tianyu experiencing a theft, you don’t even need to think twice to know it must have been an insider. It’s impossible for an outsider to take dozens of computers from the warehouse, one because they wouldn’t have the guts, two because they wouldn’t have the capability, and three, it’s simply an impossible scenario. If you really force me to find out who tampered with the batch of materials, heh, you know, boss, it’s bound to cause a little stir.”

After hearing Lin Zifeng’s words, Nangong Bing was very satisfied with his wisdom. A theft had occurred at the company; if other people didn’t know, would she, Nangong Bing, not know who was behind it?

It’s just that these matters were too entangled, even affecting the board members, so she, Nangong Bing, didn’t want to make a big fuss. After all, the whole issue wasn’t really about the materials but rather aimed at certain people’s individual actions.

But these people were too foolish, using such low, disgusting, and even despicable tactics that even a three-year-old child would know to use.

Simply tasteless...
