Chapter 137: Shopping with Nangong Bing

Regarding Nangong Shui’s relentless pestering, Lin Zifeng was at a loss.

Since you trust me so much with your daughter, let’s give it a try.

”Kid, later when you go out to eat with my daughter and shop with her, say some nice things to her, change the image she has of you in her mind, and I think my daughter will definitely be impressed by you. With your skills, this shouldn’t be hard, right?”

Seeing Nangong Shui’s half-smiling face, what else could Lin Zifeng say at this point? The man was entrusting his daughter to him, and there was no reason for him to refuse.

Whether or not it works out, it’s all up to fate. Besides, he never had any ulterior motives toward Nangong Bing and just approached it with a try-and-see attitude. If it worked, great; if she genuinely didn’t like him, well, he’d just accept his incompetence. He couldn’t fulfill the arranged marriage his parents had set up.

The two of them went downstairs together, hooking arms and backslapping like long-lost buddies, faces full of smiles and laughter.

Watching the young and old, Hua Buqi stared with her cute doe eyes, somewhat confused, and asked Nangong Bing, ”Cousin, what exactly is the relationship between Uncle and this beast? Why does it seem like they knew each other from before? I really wanted to ask earlier why Uncle is so good to him. He’s just a bodyguard, yet they...”

Watching Lin Zifeng and Nangong Shui laughing and smoking together, hooking arms and backslapping, the girl was bewildered. In her mind, her uncle was the founder of Tianyu Group. Whether or not he put on airs, he wouldn’t just associate with some trivial bodyguard, right?

This, this uncle’s relationships are too complicated.

Pointing at Lin Zifeng and Nangong Shui, Hua Buqi looked at Nangong Bing, her face full of confusion.

Seeing her father getting along with him like brothers, Nangong Bing felt frustrated and simply ignored it.

She casually made up an excuse, ”He is a bodyguard hired by my father.”

”No way! Uncle would hire someone like him as a bodyguard? What, what can he even do? I feel like he does nothing but freeload and deceive.”

If Nangong Bing erroneously hired the bodyguard, or if there was a contract that forced them to keep him, one thing is for certain: a tycoon and business magnate like her uncle, even if momentarily blinded by an error, wouldn’t possibly employ a loafer as his bodyguard.

Seeing their relationship now so solid, could it be that they’ve known each other for a long time, or is there something else they are hiding from me?

”Bingbing, you just said you wanted to go buy clothes, so let him accompany you. He’s free anyway, right?” Nangong Shui smiled cheerfully and even deliberately patted Lin Zifeng’s shoulder, signaling him with his eyes not to forget what he had mentioned earlier.

Since her dear father is willing to trust him with his daughter, why wouldn’t he be willing to do so? Why not just change his temperament for the day and act a bit more seriously?

”Uncle, why does cousin need him to accompany her to buy clothes? I also need clothes, I want to go shopping with cousin.”

But this girl was no fool. She found everything about Nangong Shui’s behavior today a bit strange. Normally her uncle wasn’t like this, but today he was hesitant and even hooked arms with the person she disliked, whispering something, and had him accompany her cousin to shop. There was definitely a secret there. Moreover, if they went out, what would she do staying at home?

”Uh... well, Huahua, haven’t you not seen your father for many days? How about we go to the company later to find your father? They can do their thing, and we can do something else. It’s not a bad idea, right?”

As for his granddaughter, Nangong Shui was quite gentle and patient. Her harmless and clear gaze particularly endeared her to Nangong Shui, and given she was his only granddaughter, who else could he love if not her?

”No, I want to stay with my cousin.”

Hua Buqi pouted her cute little mouth and sat down on the plush leather sofa, hugging herself, just like a little girl.

”Since Huahua wants to go shopping with us, let’s take her along, the more the merrier,” Lin Zifeng laughed heartily.

”Who said I wanted to go out with you? Who said I’d take you out? Why are you so presumptuous?”

Seeing Lin Zifeng shamelessly insisting on going out with her, Nangong Bing got especially angry just thinking about it. But watching his innocent look as she scolded him and his mere chuckles, Nangong Bing felt secretly thrilled, realizing she too had a scheming side, which was quite satisfying.

”Hehe, Bingbing, didn’t you say you were going out with him today? Why are you backing out now, could it be...” Nangong Shui didn’t finish his sentence but gave her a threatening look, the message couldn’t be clearer, if you don’t go out with him today, I’ll make your affair public.

Under her father’s threat, Nangong Bing sat on the sofa with a sour face, hating her dad to death. Thinking of Lin Zifeng’s misdeeds over the past few days, it felt like surviving a disaster.

Seeing her cousin sulking reluctantly, Hua Buqi, with her mischievous eyes, seemed to understand something. She jumped up, arms wide, and cheerfully said, ”Since cousin has company, I won’t go then. I’m off to play games, you guys go ahead.”

After saying that, she scampered toward her room, leaving everyone scratching their heads, wondering how a girl could change her mood faster than flipping a book.

She just said she wanted to go, and now she’s not going?

Women are really hard to figure out, no! It’s girls who are hard to figure out.

Seeing Nangong Bing sulking, Lin Zifeng definitely wouldn’t warm up to someone giving him the cold shoulder. He simply mimicked her, sitting on the sofa and sulking too, as if going out with Nangong Bing was like asking for his life.

Seeing both of them like this, Nangong Shui quickly started to smooth things over.

Eventually, Nangong Bing had a change of heart, you wanted to go out with me, didn’t you? You conspired with my father, didn’t you? Fine, tonight, I’ll let you have a great time to make up for your grievances against me these past few days.

”Alright, since father wants you to accompany me clothes shopping, let’s go,” she said.

Nangong Bing stood up, her body poised, and gave Lin Zifeng a flirtatious glance.

”Come on, what are you waiting for?”

Did this girl suddenly suffer some blow or what? How did she change from a cold and distant demeanor to a completely different person just now?

Lin Zifeng and Nangong Shui were also stunned.

His daughter wasn’t supposed to be so fickle. He had watched her grow up, and he thought he would have to argue a great deal, but unexpectedly, she took the initiative to ask Lin Zifeng to go out with her.

This, this doesn’t make sense...
