Chapter 122: Chapter 122 Get out of here

”Awesome, Brother Lin.”

In the security surveillance room, Jia Zhenjing stared intently at the warehouse video and gave Lin Zifeng a thumbs up.

”So, Brother Lin, how did you know she stole the computers from the warehouse?”

In the security surveillance room, Lin Zifeng and Jia Zhenjing were both watching a scene from the warehouse video.

”I don’t know,” Lin Zifeng said with a smile, giving a simple answer.

”Don’t know? How can you not know? Are you pulling my leg, Brother Jia?” Jia Zhenjing gave a sly smile, looking at Lin Zifeng, sensing something enigmatic about the young man.

”Hehe, I really didn’t know. It was just a guess, I didn’t expect it to actually be her.”

”A guess? What evidence did you have to suspect her?”

Jia Zhenjing was somewhat puzzled. Even if you guessed, how did you guess it was Sun Xiaonao? With so many employees in the company, you probably wouldn’t be able to guess it was her for a while, right? And to guess so accurately, especially to intentionally send the security brothers to the trade department as a diversion.

”Do you know what psychology is?” Lin Zifeng continued with a smile.

”Psychology? What do you mean?” This old security guard who had spent years at Tianyu Group didn’t know what psychology meant.

His eyes wandered, somewhat confused by what Lin Zifeng meant, and for quite some time he couldn’t grasp the concept of psychology.

”Brother Lin, just spare me all that cultural talk about psychology. You know I, Old Jia, haven’t had much schooling. Just tell it to me straight. Why make it all so mysterious?”

”Psychology refers to what people commonly call mental activities and all responses and thoughts. To put it in more layman’s terms, it means ’having a guilty conscience’. If a person has a guilty conscience, or does something that unsettles their mind, they become exceptionally sensitive to speech, actions, and their environment. Any little stir, and they’ll feel uneasy.”

On the subject of psychology, this was probably as simple as Lin Zifeng could make it for him. Anything more, and he might not understand, so it was better to explain it in plain terms.

”That’s ingenious, truly ingenious!”

Jia Zhenjing thought about it for a moment, then seemed to come to an understanding, and smiled at Lin Zifeng while giving him a thumbs up.

He didn’t quite get it, but seeing that Lin Zifeng’s plan was pretty good and had successfully seen the computer returned, that in itself proved Lin Zifeng’s ability.

”So what do we do now? Report her? Or copy the video to show everyone?”

”Old Jia, now that things have settled, just delete this video clip later on. Make absolutely sure not to give yourself away. After all, the computer has now been returned to its rightful owner. We’re just security guards; we’d best not get involved in this mess. Let’s play dumb, so nobody gets in an awkward position later.”

Lin Zifeng took a drag of his cigarette, thinking it best to spare Sun Xiaonao some dignity in this matter. If things blew up, Sun Xiaonao might not be affected at all, but their brothers in the security department could be in trouble. Who knows how extensive Sun Xiaonao’s connections are?

Who knows how many top executives she’s slept with? Once things go south, it’s us low-level security guards who will suffer, not to mention that this warehouse theft was nothing more than a personal prank. Even if Sun Xiaonao wanted to get back at the Public Relations department’s Zhao Xue Mo, and intentionally prevent their department from outdoing her own Trade department, such childish tactics are just too amateurish.

”Don’t worry, I’ll delete it in a minute. Since Brother Lin has asked me not to spread the word, I won’t. With Brother Lin’s smart brains, there must be more to this story.”

Jia Zhenjing, as someone who had been with the company for over a decade, immediately saw through Lin Zifeng’s intentions. Having clawed his way up to the position of security squad leader and survived the tenure of two presidents, he indeed had some exceptional skills. Although he was just coasting through his job, like Lin Zifeng, he was no fool.

After saying goodbye to Jia Zhenjing, Lin Zifeng did not linger and headed straight for President Nangong Bing’s office.

At this moment, in President Nangong Bing’s office, Huang Daming was stooping and hunching his back like a servant.

Every time he saw Nangong Bing looking a bit tired and quiet, the slight frown of her brows pained him like a knife cut. He wished he could offer up all his abilities in hopes of taking some of the workload off her shoulders, but he knew her temperament very well.

Especially when it came to work-related matters, almost anything Nangong Bing wanted to do, she would do it herself and better than anyone else by far.

Huang Daming knew his place too well. Inside the company, aside from the security system, it seemed he was hardly capable of anything else.

Born a soldier, fighting was all he could do well; even with the willingness, the ability was lacking.

”You mean to say that the new security guard is not behaving?”

Nangong Bing’s gaze was shrewd, her eyes as sharp as a hawk’s. Her cold, beautiful face was void of any color, as if, apart from her father, no man had ever seen her smile.

Sitting high in her CEO chair, not a single excess expression or emotion could be found on her cold face, especially when she spoke. Her voice was as chilling as a millennia-old glacier in an ice cellar, sending shivers down even Huang Daming’s spine.

”Yes, yes. They’re idle every day, gambling and drinking and playing cards in the security room... not a bit of professional conduct to speak of. The computers that went missing from the warehouse likely have to do with their dereliction of duty. If this continues, the company will suffer not just asset losses, but there might also be risks to personal safety.”

Whether Huang Daming had come up with these words in advance or not, they sounded like the grievances of someone who had endured endless aggravation, as he burst out with all sorts of Lin Zifeng and company’s egregious behaviors.

”Oh? Is that so? Captain Huang, you seem rather keen to keep tabs on the daily activities of our security department members. How unusual.”

Just then, Lin Zifeng strode in with a heavy voice. He did not even bother to knock, nor wait for any instruction from Nangong Bing before confidently making his entrance.

”You? Who let you in? Get out of here this instant!”

Seeing Lin Zifeng, Huang Daming immediately lost his temper. Even he needed prior approval from the assistant before entering the president’s office, needing Nangong’s permission to come in. How dare Lin Zifeng, a lowly security guard, walk in without even knocking? Wasn’t that a lack of manners?

Nangong Bing’s brows furrowed, her beautiful, cold face tinged with a shade of purple. She also noticed that Lin Zifeng’s clothes were wrinkled and stained with spots that soured her mood, which made her especially disgusted. If it were at home it wouldn’t matter, but this was the company, and in front of her subordinates, no less. Was even knocking on the door considered a superfluous act?

After all, she was none other than the CEO of Tianyu Group...
