Urban All-Round Master

Chapter 123: Chapter 123: What an imposing presence

Chapter 123 Such Grandeur You Have

Almost instinctively, Nangong Bingjiao’s body leaned back, and between her brows, she made no attempt to hide the blatant disgust. As far as Lin Zifeng was concerned, Nangong Bing could hardly find a single good thing to say about him in her proud and icy dictionary—especially after the incident last night involving ’ham’!

Just thinking about it made Nangong Bing feel nauseated to the point of retching.

Nangong Bing was this kind of person; if she disliked and detested someone, she detested them, never bothering to disguise her feelings. Besides, with her own status and capabilities, did she need to falsify affection or please others?

The answer was ’no’!

”Oh? You have quite the grandeur, shouting and yelling in the office. Do you really think you can sit on equal footing with our great President?” When Huang Daming spoke with malice, especially after hearing him slander the security department’s brothers, Lin Zifeng became very annoyed. Didn’t Huang Daming ever consider what exactly entitled him to sit in the position of head of the security team? Or did he actually believe in that petty security system of his?

Ha! What a joke. That kind of trashy security system had been discarded by people in the United States years ago, and yet you dare to bring it out and embarrass yourself. Aren’t you afraid of lifting a rock only to drop it on your own foot?

”You... what do you mean by that?”

Huang Daming instantly flared up with anger, but upon instinctively glancing at Nangong Bing, he saw that she was acting as if nothing was wrong, sipping her fragrant tea nonchalantly as if the conflict between the two of them had nothing to do with her.

Huang Daming’s voice was dark as he spoke, his eyes flashing with a sinister look. It seemed like he could devour Zifeng at any moment, and indeed, had Nangong Bing not been there, he might have truly given Zifeng a lesson.

Watching Huang Daming’s fists ’crick-crack’ with tension, Lin Zifeng laughed, a radiant and sunny laugh.

”What are you laughing at?”

”I’m not laughing. I just find it amusing how some people overestimate themselves, using cheap goods to masquerade as high-quality equipment, and then have the nerve to shift the blame onto others. People who only know how to push responsibility onto someone else’s head while remaining cool and unburdened themselves are simply laughable.”

Lin Zifeng didn’t care what Huang had been doing before, he just sneered. ”Captain Huang, do you think my words make sense?”

Lin Zifeng smiled, his eyes narrowed, a glint of sharpness in his gaze, fearing not the slightest Huang Daming’s intimidating look.

”You!” Huang Daming turned livid with rage.

If it wasn’t for Nangong Bing’s presence, he couldn’t guarantee he wouldn’t lose his temper and perhaps kill this demon.

”Do you have any better suggestions?” Nangong Bing suddenly turned, her icy countenance now showing a hint of playful interest.

”No,” Lin Zifeng nodded seriously.

”If you have none, then why the grandstanding?” Nangong Bing’s pretty brows furrowed slightly, suspecting that this rascal must be here to stir up trouble.

”Captain Huang, please step outside for a moment, I have something to discuss with him.” Nangong Bing waved her hand at Huang Daming, gesturing for him to leave.

”President, but...” He started to say something, but Nangong Bing’s cold and detached expression hinted at seriousness.

He knew Nangong Bing’s temperament very well; since she asked him to leave, it was best to be wise and comply.

”Then I’ll take my leave.”

”Go on.” Nangong Bing sipped her coffee with icy eyes, not even glancing at him.

It wasn’t until Huang Daming had left that Nangong Bing casually raised her hand and said indifferently, ”You suspect there is a problem with the company’s security?”

”No, with Captain Huang’s abilities, I think we have more than enough to deal with the company. However, I just did a little investigation in the security department and it seems like the company is spending a lot more on security than other companies every year. Also, the quality of the equipment isn’t particularly good. I’m just puzzled, we spend so much money on equipment, and yet it’s so cheap. Could there be something wrong with the process?”

Hm?!

Nangong Bing, who was tasting her coffee, could not help but slightly frown.

”What do you mean by this? Are you saying that the security equipment has been tampered with by someone?”

”That’s what I believe. But as for how credible it really is, if you don’t trust it, you can have someone investigate it. After all, I’m just telling it like it is.”

”Do you know much about security equipment?” Lin Zifeng’s words inevitably made Nangong Bing more thoughtful; it seemed that this guy might really have a reason for what he was saying.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have released this kind of remark without any reason.

”Not too much, just a bit.” Lin Zifeng chuckled, took out a cigarette and leisurely lit another one in front of Nangong Bing, almost causing Nangong Bing to explode on the spot.

”So do you understand it or not?” She twisted her pretty eyebrows. What does ’a bit’ mean? Either you understand or you don’t; what’s with ’a bit’?

Originally, Lin Zifeng wanted to maintain a sense of mystery in front of her, but seeing her anxious state, he laughed and said, ”If we’re talking the normal prices for domestic security equipment, the company spending tens of millions every year couldn’t possibly be just for this batch of goods.

Think about it, Tianyu Group may be large, but if we calculate the strict security costs, with domestic prices, at most a few millions would be more than enough. But now, spending tens of millions every year to maintain the security system, I think it’s a bit extravagant.”

In fact, Lin Zifeng really wanted to say that the company was investing a large amount of money in security every year, but the truth was that all the security throughout the company didn’t meet the standards of the tens of millions spent. In other words, a significant portion of the tens of millions invested each year was being siphoned off by someone, and the rest was only used to purchase these average goods to pass off as security.

The reason he didn’t spell it out was simply to give Nangong Bing a heads-up.

After hearing his words, Nangong Bingjiao’s eyebrows furrowed tighter; she was a smart woman. Even though Lin Zifeng hadn’t explicitly said it, she could vaguely sense that Lin Zifeng was hinting that someone had embezzled most of the funds meant for security.

”Then what can you do about it? Are you saying that all the security personnel up and down the company are useless?”

”They’re useful, but just not as good as I mentioned, especially compared to those more advanced systems abroad,” Lin Zifeng said with a sneer.

”So, what you’re saying is, you know quite a lot about the system equipment?” Nangong Bing’s eyes shifted slightly, revealing a playful smile.

”Just a bit,” Lin Zifeng replied with a smile.

”Alright then, since you know so much about the system equipment, I’ll give you a task. If you can complete this task well, I will reward you with ten thousand yuan. How about that?”

”Ten thousand?” Lin Zifeng was shocked.

”What? Is that not enough for you?” It seemed this guy had quite an appetite; ten thousand yuan wasn’t satisfying him. She raised her brows and flicked her forehead hair, saying, ”How about twenty thousand?”
