Chapter 124: Do You Know Anything About Equipment?

Holy moly! What kind of mission is worth twenty thousand yuan? Anyone who gets this job would probably be willing to do it...

That’s twenty thousand yuan we’re talking about. For an average person, that’s probably a year’s worth of wages right there.

”What mission? Tell me about it.”

”Aren’t you knowledgeable about equipment? Well, I’ve got a dossier here, recently transferred from a newly listed small company. Our company wants to acquire a batch of equipment from that listed company, valued at eight million yuan. So, I’d like you to go and check it out, see if their equipment is really worth that price. After all, the company’s money doesn’t just flow out freely. If you do well on this task, I’ll reward you with twenty thousand yuan on behalf of the company. How does that sound?”

Nangong Bing chuckled lightly to himself, thinking deviously, ’You always love a little bargain, don’t you? Well, here’s twenty thousand yuan worth of bargain for you to snap up. I just wonder if you’ve been spouting nonsense.’”

”This is just a minor issue?” Lin Zifeng curled his lip and said, ”And here I thought it would be some high-difficulty task. It’s just equipment appraisal.” His expression clearly showed his disappointment.

He had thought that the old granny would assign him some challenging job, but it turned out to be just equipment appraisal. He felt it was a bit like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

”Hmm, do you feel like appraising equipment is beneath you?” Nangong Bing was incredibly astute and saw right through this guy’s trickery.

”I didn’t say that.” Lin Zifeng waved his hands, his eyes lighting up, ”This batch of equipment isn’t really that mysterious, is it?”

From the old granny’s demeanor, it seemed she cared a lot about this batch of equipment. It looked like things weren’t as simple as he had thought.

”If you’re willing to do it, then go ahead. If you’re not up to it, I’ll find someone else.”

Seeing his reluctant face, she figured he was probably another blowhard.

A reward of twenty thousand yuan would have anyone in the company scrambling to take the job, but here he was, still whining about it.

”Do it! Of course, I’ll do it. Who said I wouldn’t?”

Damn! For such a sweet deal worth twenty thousand yuan, only a fool would say no.

Lin Zifeng thought to himself, it seems this old lady might be underestimating my abilities.

”Here’s the information on that company. Go check it out this afternoon using the address provided. If the equipment isn’t worth eight million yuan, you should know what to do, right? The company doesn’t have that much spare cash to waste on a whim, so this isn’t just a test of your ability but also about creating value for the company.” Saying so, Nangong Bing’s slender fingers slid the stack of documents across the table.

Uh, isn’t this still just using me? Tossing me a bone worth twenty thousand to go appraise equipment for the company? Isn’t that a bit cheap?

It seemed Lin Zifeng had underestimated Nangong Bing’s business acumen. By spending twenty thousand to have him appraise equipment, think of how much capital she’d be saving.

His calculations were far more shrewd than Lin Zifeng’s. Just a moment ago, he thought the twenty thousand came easily. Now he realizes, it’s indeed pitifully scant.

”Oh, right, they called earlier to set up a meeting this afternoon at ’Yijia Ren’ cafe. Get ready for it,” Nangong said as she passed over a large pile of documents on the table.

After taking the documents, Lin Zifeng finally reacted.

I’m here to be a security guard, so when did I also become a sales rep? Going out to meet and discuss contracts?

What’s this act that Nangong Bing is playing at?

With a resigned shrug, Lin Zifeng didn’t bother mulling over whether he was a security guard or a sales rep and headed to the ’Yijia Ren’ cafe with the documents.

...

Following the pre-arranged appointment, Lin Zifeng quickly found the Yijia Ren cafe.

Yijia Ren sounded like a very elegant name, and only upon arriving did Lin Zifeng realize that the coffee shop was much more extensive than he had imagined. He wasn’t sure if coffee was their main focus.

In any case, having coffee on the company dime was not too shabby.

”Hello, you must be the one from Tianyu Group in charge of acquiring our company’s equipment.”

While Lin Zifeng was savoring the coffee, he didn’t notice when a beautiful girl had approached him.

”Who are you?”

”Hello, I’m the General Manager of Kesheng Technology Co., Ltd., my name is Ye Zifang. I look forward to working with you.” The woman flashed a bright smile, introduced herself first, her crisp voice felt especially pleasant.

Lin Zifeng was not pretentious and quickly stood up to say, ”Hello, I am a security guard at Tianyu Group. My name is Lin Zifeng.”

”Security guard?” The woman slightly furrowed her brows, then laughed awkwardly, ”Sir, you have quite the sense of humor.”

”I’m not joking with you, I’m serious,” Lin Zifeng said earnestly.

”Well, okay then, let’s start discussing the equipment,” said the woman, initially taken aback, but quickly regained her poise and went straight to discussing the equipment deal with him. It seemed this girl knew how to play her cards right.

Lin Zifeng secretly praised her in his mind.

If it were any other woman, upon hearing he was a Tianyu security guard,

Her first reaction would probably be to walk away. At least she hadn’t done so.

”Would you like something to drink?” Lin Zifeng asked.

”I’m not thirsty, thank you.” She smiled, reached into her bag, and pulled out a stack of equipment documents to place in front of him, saying softly, ”Here is all the data I’ve collected today. If you find anything unsatisfactory, please let me know.”

”Alright.” Lin Zifeng, expressionless, took the documents and glanced over them quickly, raising his eyebrows at every critical point.

This gesture, however, did not escape the woman’s notice. This man who claimed to be a Tianyu security guard was shrouded in mystery to her.

”I wonder if our company’s equipment meets your group’s needs?” the woman asked, blinking her eyes tentatively.

This was her first time collaborating with a big group like Tianyu, and it would be false to say she wasn’t worried.

Her company was just a newly listed small company, and Tianyu Group had chosen them only for their equipment. If Tianyu wasn’t interested in the equipment, their chances for future cooperation would be nil.

Just the equipment they would supply Tianyu Group every year would be enough for their company to operate for several years.
