Chapter 145: Chapter 144: I’m Just Trying to Do What’s Right

Chapter 144 I’m Just Trying to Do the Right Thing

”This woman really hits hard! Luckily I blocked her kick with my arm just now, otherwise, she would have really kicked up a storm.” Lying on the ground, Lin Zifeng secretly wiped off some sweat,

the kick from Su Ni was actually one Lin Zifeng intentionally let her deliver, then he took advantage of the night to stage a scene. This would dissipate her suspicions about his identity in the future, better to avoid trouble. If the cops were on him all day, imagine, he’d even feel uneasy going to the bathroom.

Watching Lin Zifeng lying on the ground and screaming in agony, Su Ni’s face showed a trace of smugness. She didn’t expect her leg strength to be so amazing—to think she could send a big guy flying with a single kick. It seems she should train more with those guys in the future.

At this moment, Su Ni did not regret injuring Lin Zifeng. Even if he wasn’t the man with the bronze mask, he was caught red-handed with a pile of stolen underwear. Just the charge of robbery was enough for him.

What’s more, she could add a charge of assaulting an officer and then she would be safe.

For people like him, mercy shouldn’t be an option.

”Ouch! Ouch! I’m dying, someone’s been killed. I’m about to croak.” Lin Zifeng half-lay on the ground, deliberately making an agonized expression, then covered his stomach with both hands, screaming as loudly as he could, since he had the law on his side.

”Are you dead yet?”

As Lin Zifeng’s screams grew louder, Su Ni wondered if she had kicked too hard. If she accidentally kicked him to death, it would be a loss indeed.

”Ouch, even if I’m not dead right now, I’m only left with half a life. Ouch...”

Hmph! He deserved to die for stealing, for breaking into someone’s shop to steal underwear. Even if you were beaten to death today, nobody would pity you.

Su Ni was a person with a dual personality. Towards the good ones, she had always been kind, especially when she saw those poor, starving African refugees on TV, she couldn’t help but tear up. But when facing criminals, she never backed down, stubborn to her core; even if she knew she couldn’t handle him, Su Ni would never give up without a fight.

Seeing Lin Zifeng holding a bunch of risqué underwear, one could tell at glance what a pervert he was. Add to this how he flirted with her in the police car, not to mention forcefully kissing her at the police station—Lin Zifeng was already entrenched in Su Ni’s mind in the eighteenth level of Hell.

Just as Su Ni was about to go over and handcuff Lin Zifeng, rapid footsteps came from the end of the alley.

Su Ni tidied her hair, and through the dim night, she saw three women coming their way—it turned out to be the lingerie store manager who had just attempted to call the police.

When the lingerie store manager saw Lin Zifeng half-lying on the ground and screaming in agony, she was totally flabbergasted.

The manager and two clerks looked at Su Ni cautiously.

Su Ni thought the three of them would definitely be moved to tears, praising her continuously as a people’s police officer. But just as she felt slightly smug inside, the lingerie store manager dumbly said to Su Ni, ”What are you doing?”

Seeing this, Su Ni felt a bit amused. I’m catching thieves for you, and you’re looking at me like this?

”Didn’t you just call the police? You said someone stole from your shop, and now I’ve caught him. Come with me to the police station later, make a statement and explain everything.”

Su Ni neatly straightened her traffic cop uniform.

Feeling pleased with herself for catching Lin Zifeng today, she fulfilled a significant duty. She predicted she would definitely be reinstated, at least a mention from the superiors for three months was guaranteed.

But to her surprise, the lingerie store manager stepped forward with two clerks and helped Lin Zifeng to his feet, then sneered at Su Ni, ”What are you cops even doing? How can you hurt someone without proper assessment of the situation?”

Seeing Lin Zifeng half-lying on the ground, the store manager was a bit angry. Clearly, it was that sleazy man who had stolen from their shop, so why was Lin Zifeng the one getting beaten up now?

And more importantly, you’re a traffic cop, why are you meddling like a busybody?

In that instant, whether Su Ni was a police officer or not didn’t matter to the store manager. In their eyes, cops were no different from bandits.

”What did you say! I catch a thief for you and you talk to me like this?” Su Ni was also furious. Could she really have caught the wrong person?

”It’s not a mistake in the arrest. You were actually wrong from the start, it wasn’t him stealing from our lingerie store, it was someone else.”

”Then why does he still have a bunch of lingerie in his hands?”

Looking at Zifeng holding a bunch of sexy lingerie, Su Ni started blushing. The wars among women are no less fierce than those among men. If they start bickering, it’s truly terrifying, almost like those schemes in the recent popular drama about beautiful yet scheming women.

Never offend a woman.

If one night you suddenly find even your underwear missing, then who would you blame?

”I, I was trying to catch a thief for them, but your sudden appearance not only led to misunderstandings but you also hit me. Is there no justice in this world? I was trying to do a good deed today, and ended up being beaten up by the police. After this, who would dare to act righteously like I did?”

At this moment, Zifeng, who had been leaning against the wall, finally got up.

And his face was full of grievances, as if he was wrongfully hit by a rotten egg while walking down the street for no reason.

”Is, is everything you said true?”

Su Ni’s pretty face blushed. She felt like she might have made another mistake today.

Why is it that every time she encounters this jerk, not only does she not get the upper hand, but she ends up getting caught by her own mistakes?

”Of course it’s true, what did you think?”

Zifeng tried to make his expression more pained, aiming to gain the sympathy of the store manager.

”Then aren’t you going to apologize? Hitting someone should at least warrant a compensation for medical expenses, right?”

The female store manager had always had a good impression of Zifeng. Seeing the bracelet on his wrist, she knew that his family background couldn’t be bad.

”Apologize to him? Are you joking? I, Su Ni, have never apologized to anyone in my life. If you dare, go find me at the police station.”

Su Ni was amused despite her anger.

”You...!”

The beautiful store manager blushed, taken aback by Su Ni’s fierce retort, unable to respond.

”Let’s just let it go, since it’s all a misunderstanding, and since all the items have been recovered, let’s minimize the issue and everyone can go back.”

As the tension between the two women grew stronger, Zifeng actually started to worry. If they really exploded, he would be the one to suffer. So, he decided to be the peacemaker and let them handle it calmly.

After handing over the lingerie to the beautiful store manager, and with a lot of persuasion from Zifeng, she left, still fuming.

But Su Ni couldn’t help but give Zifeng an annoyed glance, ”Does it hurt?”

”Uh... it was a close call, almost kicked my ’brother’ down there. So, does it hurt?”

”Can you... can you not talk so crudely!”

Su Ni snapped.

”Alright, I don’t have time to chat with you anymore. We’ll probably never meet again, so goodbye, Officer Su.” Seeing Su Ni’s shrewd eyes scanning around, Zifeng felt something was amiss and quickly made his exit.
