After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 444: Chapter 447: Some Loves are Only Namesake [10]

”You’re also amazing, my emotions were completely stirred up by you,” Luo Xiaoqian said.

”Alright, you two besties should stop flattering each other already!” Yu Tong laughed as she walked up, handing two bottles to them, ”Xiao Qian, your phone rang just now. You should check it out!”

”Wow...” Xu Xia exaggeratedly jeered, ”The Frog Prince is calling!”

Luo Xiaoqian rolled her eyes at her and smiled as she ran over to Gao Jie and Lin Ye, grabbed her purse, and pulled out her phone.

Sure enough, there was a missed call, not from Leng Zimo but from Xu Pei; she hurriedly called back.

”Xiao Qian, there’s something I need to talk to you about. Can you come out for a moment? I’m right by the backstage exit!” Xu Pei’s voice immediately came through.

”Okay!”

Luo Xiaoqian hung up and grabbed her purse, ready to head out.

Gao Jie and Lin Ye immediately followed her, ”I’ll accompany you!”

”No need, I’m just going to the door and will be right back!”

Luo Xiao Qian waved them off, feeling quite unaccustomed to being followed everywhere she went; it just felt weird to her.

Gao Jie and Lin Ye had been pre-warned by Yu Tong, assuming she was sneaking off to meet with Leng Zimo. They exchanged knowing smiles and stopped following, not wanting to disturb the two.

Once outside the backstage area, Luo Xiaoqian looked around and saw a white Maserati. Xu Pei was waving at her, and she quickly ran over.

”Get in the car so the reporters don’t see you,” Xu Pei said, opening the door for her.

Luo Xiaoqian didn’t think too much and got into the car, ”Sister Xu Pei, what’s so urgent that you needed to see me!”

Xu Pei pursed her lips, ”Xiao Qian, I’m sorry, I’m really sorry, I... I didn’t mean to do it!”

Luo Xiaoqian was somewhat baffled, ”What are you doing?”

”I... because I’ve been busy planning your album lately, I specifically gathered some of your news clippings for inspiration. But yesterday, when I went to visit Uncle Leng and was bringing over a gift, I accidentally left the folder with the materials at the Leng Family’s, and then...” Xu Pei glanced at her somewhat embarrassingly, ”Uncle Leng saw those scandal photos of you and Zimo. Even though I tried to cover it up, I think he definitely guessed that you two are together!”

Luo Xiaoqian was shocked; this situation was totally beyond her expectations, and for a while, she did not know what to say.

”I’m really sorry!” Xu Pei apologized again, ”Back then, Uncle Leng was very critical of Zimo entering the entertainment industry. Their relationship has been strained for many years, and I’m worried that he might misunderstand you. His personality is a lot like Zimo’s, and I’m worried... Xiao Qian, I’m so sorry, I really didn’t expect it would turn out like this!”

”It’s not your fault!” After the initial shock had passed, Luo Xiaoqian had also calmed down, ”You don’t have to blame yourself too much.”

Xu Pei looked up, a bit puzzled, ”You’re really not mad at me?”

”Why would I be mad if it wasn’t intentional?” Luo Xiaoqian comforted her by patting her on the shoulder, ”It’s okay, I was already prepared for this.”

This day was bound to come sooner or later; it just arrived a bit earlier than she and Zimo had anticipated.

Xu Pei was about to say something else when Luo Xiaoqian’s phone rang once again.

This time, an unfamiliar number appeared on the screen.

”Hello?” she answered the phone, puzzled.

”Is this Luo Xiaoqian? I’d like to meet you,” came a deep male voice from the other end of the line.

...

...

That’s it for today.
