After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 416: Chapter 419: A World of Two People [2]

Before, Luo Xiaoqian had read reports about Mr. Jiao Yang. He was renowned as a playboy, linked to countless rumors involving top actresses, singers, and even models. Therefore, when he mentioned pursuing her, she regarded it merely as a joke, perhaps coupled with an intention to deliberately oppose Leng Zimo.

”Is that really how you see me?” Jiao Yang asked with a smile.

”I was joking!” Luo Xiaoqian laughed, ”I didn’t know you well before, so that’s what I thought. But after the Sichuan incident, I realized you’re probably not the kind of irresponsible man the media portrays.”

Jiao Yang’s smile faded, ”You’re wrong. I really was like that before!”

Luo Xiaoqian was slightly moved and turned her face to look at him seriously.

”Actually, I am not as great as the media depicts. Raised with strict British education, I hated that rigid lifestyle. Later, I abandoned classical music for pop music production, not because I truly loved pop, but because it felt rebelliously thrilling. Of course, I’m the kind of person who wants to excel in whatever I do, and I have the capability. So, I succeeded...”

Jiao Yang sipped his juice lightly, a rare depth on his usually carefree handsome face.

”In recent years, my life was utterly dissolute. I frequently got drunk, raced cars, and went to bed with different women, even smoked marijuana... doing everything my father and mother wished I wouldn’t. Everyone thought I was successful, but what they saw as success was meaningless to me. I remember, in London, one morning when I opened my eyes, seeing the unfamiliar hotel room and a beautiful woman beside me whom I couldn’t remember at all... that’s when I felt an unprecedented...”

He hesitated here.

His Chinese was excellent, but he was momentarily at a loss for the right Chinese words to express himself.

”Emptiness, do you understand?”

”Emptiness?” Luo Xiaoqian asked.

”YES, right, it’s emptiness. From body to soul, feeling very empty...” Jiao Yang laughed self-derisively, ”Everyone asks me why I transferred to Asia View Asia Headquarters. This is the real reason. I just wanted to change my surroundings, to find the real me.”

Luo Xiaoqian sat on a nearby chair, slightly turned, listening intently the whole time.

Jiao Yang turned his face to look at her expression, visibly surprised, ”Knowing that I’m such a person, aren’t you shocked?”

”Shocked, of course I’m shocked. But beyond that, I also feel admiration.”

”Oh?”

”Though I haven’t been through what you have, I think it must be very hard to pull oneself out of that state,” Luo Xiaoqian lifted the corners of her lips, ”But you did it, didn’t you? There is a saying in China, ’A prodigal who returns is more precious than gold’. It refers to men like you used to be, implying that...”

”A man like me turning over a new leaf is more precious than gold?” Jiao Yang asked.

”You can understand it that way, but ’Jin Buhuan’ is actually a person’s name...” Luo Xiaoqian then told him the story of ”Jin Buhuan,” ”In ancient times, there was a very wealthy person with the surname Jin who had a son at fifty and was so delighted that he named his son Jin Buhuan.
