After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 423: Chapter 426: A World of Two People [9]

Work is work.

Even for Luo Xiaoqian, if it’s because of work, Leng Zimo wouldn’t show any leniency, let alone Xu Pei.

This time she came back, he had seen her performance with his own eyes.

Leng Zimo was somewhat baffled; he had always thought of Xu Pei as just a friend, so why did she suddenly change her attitude towards him?

Running away was never Leng Zimo’s style. These days, he honestly hadn’t been avoiding her. It was just that he was truly too busy.

After what happened that night, he had been thinking about how to resolve the issue properly.

Since she pressed the issue like this, he might as well make his stance clear. Given Xu Pei’s maturity, he believed she would understand his message.

”Just friends and work partners?!” Xu Pei, listening to the sound of the meeting room door slamming shut, felt her heart being sliced apart, ”That’s not what you said ten years ago on that night!”

...

...

United States, New York.

”Goodbye!” Luo Xiaoqian walked out of her vocal teacher’s piano room, took a small sip of the mineral water handed to her by Yu Tong, and excitedly said, ”The teacher said that after one more day of lessons tomorrow, my course will be finished.”

She certainly enjoyed this sort of learning process, but after all, it wasn’t in her own place. Being far from home and living in a hotel every day wasn’t something she liked.

”Really, that’s impressive!” Yu Tong also showed a joyous expression.

Vocal and dance classes would be the final part of the course tomorrow. In just over two weeks, Luo Xiaoqian had completed the three-week program, attributable not only to her talent but also to her relentless daily practice, especially regarding dance.

Just how hard-working she was, only Yu Tong knew very well. Even after returning to the hotel at night, she would practice for another hour in her room and even continued vocal exercises while showering.

Yu Tong had been in the industry for over two years and, although she hadn’t managed any big stars, she had encountered numerous artists. Luo Xiaoqian was undoubtedly one of the most diligent and hardworking artists she knew.

The four of them left the building together, with Gao Jie carefully looking out for Luo Xiaoqian. Lin Ye hailed a taxi, and they all returned to the hotel.

There was still over an hour left until dinner, which allowed for some rest time.

Back at the hotel the four were staying in, as soon as Luo Xiaoqian entered her room, she immediately took out her phone and dialed Leng Zimo’s number, eager to share her good news with him. She hadn’t seen him for half a month and really missed him. Although she was somewhat reluctant to leave this learning environment, the thought of seeing him soon filled her with uncontrollable excitement. The phone was answered after just one ring.

”Zimo, it’s me. Are you free to talk right now?”

”Is something the matter?”

”Didn’t you say you were coming to see me? Why haven’t you come?” Luo Xiaoqian suppressed her laughter, pretending to be unhappy.

”I’m sorry, Xiao Qian, I...”

Unable to hold it back any longer, Luo Xiaoqian burst into laughter, ”I’m just teasing you. Actually, I wanted to tell you that I’ll be done with my courses tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow I’ll fly to the Capital. By evening I should be home.”

”Is that so...” Leng Zimo didn’t sound as happy as she had imagined, ”But... I won’t be in the Capital the day after tomorrow.”

”Really?” Luo Xiaoqian felt a slight disappointment, but she quickly cheered up again, ”It’s okay. As long as I’m back in the Capital, we can meet.”

”I’m probably going to be a week before I’m back in the Capital,” Leng Zimo said.
