After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 422: Chapter 425: A World of Two People [8]

”This is a special request from President Leng himself,” Yu Tong said with a playful twinkle in her eyes, ”you wouldn’t dare ignore Lord Emperor Leng’s words, would you?”

Luo Xiaoqian’s face flushed red, ”I give up on you guys, I’m going to take a shower.”

”Miss Luo, your cell phone!” Gao Jie hurried over to hand her the phone. Luo Xiaoqian took it, saw the words ”Big Fool” on the screen, and immediately apologized and answered the call. She pressed the talk button and saw Yu Tong smirking at her. Rolling her eyes at Yu Tong, Luo Xiaoqian quickly walked into the dressing room, ”Zimo!”

”How was it, did the classes go smoothly today?”

”Everything went smoothly. You don’t have to worry about me. What about you, have you resolved the issues in South Korea?”

”It’s all sorted out. I just flew back and am now in World City.”

Luo Xiaoqian glanced at her wristwatch, ”It’s getting late, have a glass of milk and go to bed early.”

With the thirteen-hour time difference between Beijing and New York, it was noon for her and midnight for him.

”Do you miss me?”

”Not at all!” she said on purpose.

”Is that so? I was thinking, if you missed me, I’d make time to visit you, but since you don’t, never mind.”

Upon hearing the yawn coming through the phone, Luo Xiaoqian stopped joking around, ”Stop talking, go to sleep. I do miss you a lot, but I can hold on. I’m making quick progress, my teacher said that at this rate, I should complete all the courses in two weeks. I’ll be back soon. Rest well and don’t worry about me, and don’t make me worry either, alright?”

”Alright, goodnight!”

The slight irritation in his heart dissipated with the sound of her voice, and shortly after hanging up, Leng Zimo fell asleep peacefully.

...

...

The next day, Xu Pei didn’t see Leng Zimo.

After finishing the morning meetings, Leng Zimo went straight out to discuss a collaboration project on a film and television city.

On the third day, he hadn’t come back.

On the fourth day, he returned, but went straight to EM.

On the fifth day, he was still in EM for a regular meeting.

The ”Huaxia Idol” competition had concluded, and now EM was planning the ”Huaxia Idol Carnival Concert.” As the president of EM, Leng Zimo had a lot of work to keep him busy.

...

By the time Xu Pei finally got to see Leng Zimo again, a week had passed. This meeting was to finalize the album strategy plan for Luo Xiaoqian, and naturally, Leng Zimo wouldn’t miss it.

After the meeting, Xu Pei was the first to stand up, ”President Leng, I’d like to talk to you!”

Zhuo Yannan and others tactfully left, and Ailin, too, walked out of the conference room with her notebook and materials.

”Why are you avoiding me?” Xu Pei approached, stopping at Leng Zimo’s side.

Leng Zimo stood up, ”Why should I be avoiding you?”

It was just one extra word, but the meaning was vastly different.

Xu Pei was questioning, he was counter-questioning, not explaining.

”But you are avoiding me!”

”That’s just your personal conjecture,” Leng Zimo said, looking down at her from his height. His deep eyes showed no evasion, ”Xu Pei, we are good friends as well as work partners. I admire your work capability and hope to work together with you to take Emperor View even further.”

He walked past her and strode to the door of the conference room.

”Leng Zimo!” Xu Pei called out behind him urgently, ”I don’t believe it. Are you really saying there’s nothing you want to tell me?”

Leng Zimo turned around to look at her, his tone indifferent, ”All I want to say is that in the next meeting, please focus. At Emperor View, we don’t need listless employees, whether they are board members or janitors, it’s the same!”
