After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 393: Chapter 395 Not April Fools’ Day

Xu Pei’s eyes flickered with disappointment, but she showed no change in expression. ”Then I wish you success.”

”President Leng, there are five minutes left until the meeting is about to start,” Ailin reminded from the side.

”For such a matter, do you, as the president, really need to attend to it personally?” Xu Pei asked with a smile.

”The previous music director was dismissed by me, and I haven’t found a suitable person for the position, so I had no choice but to take on the role myself.”

”In that case...” Xu Pei straightened up, ”President Leng, do you think I am qualified for this position?”

Leng Zimo smiled, ”You certainly can, but don’t you think it’d be a bit of a waste of your talents?”

Xu Pei had studied music originally and after she went to the United States, she worked at a world-famous record company, moving up from an ordinary singer’s assistant to the executive vice president. Her ability and music appraisal skills were without a doubt. To make her work as a music director now would clearly be a waste of her talents.

”It’s different, working for Emperor View, even if it’s as the smallest assistant, I will have twelve points of enthusiasm!” Xu Pei stood up, ”If you don’t mind, I’d like to start work right away.”

She was characterized by her decisive and swift action, so Leng Zimo was not too surprised and nodded in agreement, ”Alright, for now you can take on this role temporarily until we find the right person, then you can return to the board of directors.”

”OK!” Xu Pei picked up her bag, ”Then, could Miss Ailin do me the favor of showing me to the meeting room?”

”I’ll accompany you,” Leng Zimo stood up and picked up today’s meeting materials from the table, ”Ailin, call Yan Huang Company and move this afternoon’s inspection to the morning.”

”Does that mean you’ll be free tonight?” Walking towards the door, Xu Pei asked, ”How about I treat you to dinner as a little encouragement for your new subordinate?”

”Alright, I’ll call Huangfu He and Yizhou, I don’t know if Zirui has come back yet.” As he spoke, Leng Zimo took out his phone and began dialing.

At this moment, Xu Pei’s phone also rang. She glanced at the number, quickly walked to a distance, and then answered the call.

The voice on the phone carried a standard American accent.

”Why, why did you suddenly resign, today isn’t April Fool’s, is it?”

On the other end of the phone, Xu Pei’s boss in the United States sounded puzzled.

”Of course not!” Xu Pei replied in English, ”I resigned very seriously because I want to work in my own country.”

”But it’s so sudden, clearly you took a leave when you left, and now, early in the morning, I receive your resignation letter?”

”That’s because...” Xu Pei glanced at Leng Zimo, who was on the phone not far away, ”I suddenly changed my mind last night.”

”If it’s about the salary, I can immediately convene the board of directors and give you a raise, or if you’re tired, you can take a long vacation...”

”I truly appreciate your recognition, but I’ve already made my decision. I will find time soon to handle the work-related matters. I’m very busy here, goodbye.”

Xu Pei briskly hung up the phone and turned it off.

When she returned to Leng Zimo’s side, he had just finished calling Leng Zirui, ”Everyone has been notified. Zirui said he will be returning to the Capital tonight and might arrive a bit late. Here is the material for today’s meeting. Take a good look at it. This album is very important to both Luo Xiaoqian personally and the company.”
