After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 392: Chapter 394: Cat Poop Coffee and Tea Leaves

Although the two women were not close, they knew each other.

Ailin shrugged lightly, ”President Leng has already switched to drinking tea.”

”Drinking tea?” Xu Pei raised her eyebrows slightly.

”Yes.” Leng Zimo smiled as he took out a quaint, hand-made tea vessel from the drawer, ”This is the new tea Xiao Qian brought back for me from Jiangnan last time. Ailin, could you please make a cup for each of us?”

Knowing that coffee was not good for him, Luo Xiaoqian had purposely bought some tea for him, wanting him to change his taste. These days, he had become accustomed to drinking tea every day.

Ailin held the tea vessel and walked into the kitchen. Leng Zimo then stood up from his chair and sat down on the single sofa, ”So, how are you finding Emperor View nowadays?”

”Of course.” Xu Pei carelessly placed the valuable coffee she was holding on the table, ”President Leng, I wonder if there’s a suitable position for me at your Emperor View?”

Leng Zimo raised his eyebrows faintly, ”Are you serious?”

”Do I look like I’m joking?” Xu Pei shrugged, ”Or perhaps, should I show you my resignation letter?”

”No need!” Leng Zimo smiled faintly and then extended his hand towards her, ”Welcome back.”

At the inception of Emperor View, she was the sole investor. Aside from Leng Zimo, she held the highest proportion of the company’s shares, but because she had been developing her career overseas for years, she had entrusted Leng Zimo with full responsibility for her share.

”Really welcome?” Xu Pei asked, holding his hand.

”Of course, you’ve always been a part of the company.” Leng Zimo withdrew his hand, looking towards Ailin as she approached with the tea, ”Prepare a handover document. At next week’s board meeting, I want to return the management rights for Xu Pei’s shares to her.”

Xu Pei began to smile, ”What’s the rush? Aren’t those shares the same in your hands as they are in mine?”

”How could they be the same?” Leng Zimo took the tea cup from Ailin, ”Now, there’s a lot of work on the EM side. Your coming back is just in time to help me take care of Emperor View a bit more. With your experience and capabilities gained over the years in the United States, I believe you can do very well.”

Xu Pei placed the cup Ailin handed her onto the coffee table, ”Speaking of which, I’ve always wondered, why did you invest alone to start EM? If you wanted a specialized record company, why not set up a subsidiary?”

”In the entertainment industry, Europe and America have always set the trends. Being in China, artists like Beyonce, Avril... have a huge fan base too. But if you look at our recording industry, with its chaotic management and an echo chamber of creativity, even if global tours are organized, the audience mostly consists of the local Chinese diaspora. Artists who truly gain recognition are exceptionally rare. The purpose of establishing EM was to nurture the best singers and propel them onto the world stage, to conquer the markets of Europe and America, to conquer the entire world.”

”Does that conflict with Emperor View?” Xu Pei asked.

”Of course not, however, it’s a very risky move. I can’t let Emperor View take on the risk just because of my own dream. If I can’t succeed in the future, it won’t affect the operation of Emperor View,” Leng Zimo said.

Xu Pei nodded lightly, ”I understand your thoughts. If needed, I can also invest.”

”Thanks, but that won’t be necessary.” Leng Zimo gazed at the beautiful tea leaves in his cup, ”That is my personal dream. I think, I want to fulfill it by myself.”
