After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 354: Chapter 355: Moved Almost to the Point of Falling in Love with Me, Right?

Luo Xiaoqian was taken aback and looked at him driving with some astonishment.

”What did you say?”

”Nothing!” Jiao Yang suddenly burst into laughter, turned his face toward her, and his eyes ambiguously met hers, ”Xiao Qian, you’re not worried about Leng Zimo seeing me and getting jealous, are you?”

A blush crept onto Luo Xiaoqian’s face. ”I didn’t mean that, I just don’t want you to take risks for me, after all, this is my personal affair.”

Hearing the politeness in her tone, a dark shade flickered in Jiao Yang’s eyes, but the smile on his lips grew even more pronounced.

”A gentleman like me would never leave such a lovely lady by the roadside in the rain.”

Just then, a strange noise came from up the mountain.

Luo Xiaoqian turned her face, and seeing the rocks rolling down from the mountain, she cried out in alarm.

”Watch out!”

Jiao Yang abruptly turned the steering wheel and simultaneously stepped on the brakes.

The SUV skidded forcefully across the mountain road, screeching to a halt.

The rocks rolled past one meter away from the mountainside and into the ravine on the other side.

Luo Xiaoqian lowered her arms, which had been covering her head, and with a lingering fear, she looked at the cracked road surface and then at Jiao Yang in the driver’s seat. Worried, she asked, ”Are you okay?”

”Of course... I’m fine!” Jiao Yang’s gaze swept over the gravel on the road, and he turned and smiled at her, ”How about that, my driving isn’t bad, huh?”

”You’ve still got the nerve to smile!” Luo Xiaoqian gave him a helpless glance, ”Thank you for bringing me here!”

She got out of the car, walked around the front of the vehicle to his side, and waved at him. She flashed her flashlight on the mountain path beside her and treaded past the section where the rocks had just fallen.

As she walked on, she heard unusual noises coming from behind and turned her head in confusion.

Jiao Yang lazily had his hands in his pockets, grinning through the misty rain at her.

Not far behind him, the SUV still blocked the road, with its headlights on casting a broad swath of light.

With his back to the light, his face was blurry, but his silhouette was just as lazy and resolute as it had been when she saw him by the hospital that night.

Luo Xiaoqian ran over, raised the umbrella to cover his head, and looked at him with a frown.

”Why haven’t you left yet?”

”Moved enough to fall in love with me, aren’t you?” Jiao Yang asked with a smile.

His tone was still teasing, but his expression in the dark looked a bit profound. However, because the darkness served as a cover, Luo Xiaoqian didn’t see it.

”Stop joking, and get going,” she urged.

”No way. How can I let you have all the fun by yourself?”

Jiao Yang lifted his face and lazily walked forward.

In the strong wind and rain, his silhouette seemed somewhat listless but radiated an unspoken strength, like a willow: seemingly pliable but resilient.

Watching his back, Luo Xiaoqian pursed her lips in resignation, caught up to him, and sheltered his head with the umbrella.

In such heavy wind and rain, whether or not to use the umbrella made little difference, but Luo Xiaoqian persistently held it over him.

Alone and not very strong, she struggled to hold the umbrella steady against the wind.

Jiao Yang glanced at the small woman beside him trying to keep the umbrella over him and furrowed his brow. He reached out to take hold of the umbrella handle, this time deliberately avoiding her palm.

With Jiao Yang’s hand on the umbrella, it immediately became steady.

One umbrella, two hands, protecting two people, their steps forward were slow but unflinching.
