After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 353: Chapter 354: Hating Being With Me So Much

In the heavy rain in the mountain village.

Leng Zimo held a flashlight, knocking on a villager’s door with one foot deep and one foot shallow in the mud, declining the invitation to come in out of the rain and asking carefully for the location of the elementary school.

Following the villager’s directions, he stumbled many times along the way, finally finding the school that sat halfway up the mountain.

Seeing the school still standing strong in the wind and rain, unaffected, he raised his hand to wipe the rain off his face and strode forward to knock on the closed doors.

In a moment, footsteps sounded.

”Coming!” Xiao Zhou, holding a candle, rushed down the stairs to open the door, using the candlelight to see Leng Zimo in the storm, ”You...”

She originally thought it was Luo Xiaoqian and others returning from taking Xiao Mei to see a doctor. On seeing the figure outside in a raincoat, she didn’t recognize him at first.

”Where is Luo Xiaoqian?” Leng Zimo pushed up the rain hat on his head.

”President Leng?!” Recognizing that familiar face drenched with rain, Xiao Zhou’s eyes widened in shock, ”You... How come you’re here?”

Leng Zimo raised an eyebrow, ”Where is Luo Xiaoqian?”

”Oh, she’s not here!” Xiao Zhou finally snapped out of her daze, hurriedly ushering him inside, ”Please come in quickly...”

Leng Zimo grabbed her wrist, ”I’m asking you, where is Luo Xiaoqian!”

Xiao Zhou’s hand shook and tears from the candle dripped down, landing on Leng Zimo’s wrist. His fingers trembled, but he still gripped her wrist tightly, not letting go.

”A female student had a sudden case of acute appendicitis, and they took her to the hospital,” Xiao Zhou hurriedly explained.

”How long ago did they leave?” Leng Zimo’s heart tightened abruptly.

Xiao Zhou glanced at her watch, ”About three or four hours ago, I guess?”

”Has there been any news?”

”The power is out here; cell phones and telephones are all down.”

”Which road did they take?” Leng Zimo asked.

Xiao Zhou pointed down the mountain, ”That road goes straight to the main road. Turn right and it leads directly to the county town.”

Peering through the rain and fog at the road she was pointing to, Leng Zimo turned and left.

”President Leng?!” Xiao Zhou followed him out urgently, ”You...”

”If they send any news, tell them I went to look for them along the road,” Leng Zimo said without looking back and plunged into the rain and fog.

This stretch of road was all mountain paths, and at this time landslides were a common occurrence. He would not be able to rest easy until he saw her with his own eyes.

On the highway.

Luo Xiaoqian carefully watched the road ahead, afraid of missing the exit they had taken earlier.

”Up ahead, right there!”

Noticing the exit, she said urgently, her hand going to the buckle of her seatbelt, ready to unbuckle it.

A hand reached over decisively and grasped hers, stopping her from undoing the seat belt.

As their fingers touched, Luo Xiaoqian subconsciously withdrew her hand, ”Stop the car here, it’s too dangerous ahead.”

Jiao Yang turned the steering wheel with one hand, steering the car onto the bend, showing no intention of stopping.

Luo Xiaoqian acted as if he hadn’t heard, raising her voice to continue, ”It’s not far ahead, I can walk the rest of the way!”

Jiao Yang clenched the steering wheel with one hand and held the handbrake with the other, cautiously observing the road conditions ahead.

”Jiao Yang?!”

Luo Xiaoqian spoke up again.

”I heard you!” Jiao Yang’s brows furrowed slightly, ”Do you dislike being with me that much?”
