After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 388: Chapter 389 The Issue of Jealousy

Two women entered the bathroom together; Luo Xiaoqian was busy grabbing a tissue to help wipe her face, but Xu Pei raised her hand to block Xiaoqian’s palm, took the tissue, dampened it with cold water, and gently iced her forehead while lifting her face to look at Luo Xiaoqian in the mirror.

”You’re living together, right?”

”Yes...” Luo Xiaoqian first nodded, then began to wave her hands somewhat frantically, ”No... Not that...”

”I was just joking with you, but it’s quite normal, isn’t it?”

Xu Pei lowered her face; her tone was calm, but her grip on the tissue tightened suddenly, distorting its shape as it absorbed the water.

Luo Xiaoqian laughed dryly, ”If you’re not feeling well, maybe you should go home. A good night’s sleep might help.”

By the time Xu Pei stood upright again, her expression had returned to normal.

When the two women returned to the private room, Leng Zimo had already settled the bill. Seeing them walk in, he immediately stood and brought Xu Pei’s bag over to her.

”Where do you live, heading home or to a hotel?”

Xu Pei did not take the bag, ”I’m going back to Lakeside Villa, it’s on your way.”

”I’ve been staying in World City lately.” Leng Zimo pushed the bag toward her again, ”Xiao Ding is already downstairs, let him take you.”

Xu Pei took her bag, ”Do you guys still have plans?”

Leng Zimo smiled faintly, ”It’s a secret!”

”I didn’t mean anything by it; I just wanted to say, if you don’t have something very important, I would like to talk to you about a serious matter.” Xu Pei shrugged her shoulders, ”I’ve resigned from my position in the United States and am thinking about coming back to develop my career.”

A flicker of surprise crossed Leng Zimo’s eyes, ”Why, I thought you’ve always said you liked the atmosphere over there?”

”Don’t you want me to come back?” Xu Pei asked with a smile.

”Of course not.” Leng Zimo embraced Luo Xiaoqian by her waist, ”Let’s talk properly tomorrow.”

In his tone, there was a clear element of refusal, and Xu Pei didn’t persist.

The three of them went downstairs together, and Xiao Ding took Xu Pei’s luggage from Leng Zimo’s car, watching the two leave as Leng Zimo drove onto the roadway.

”Want to eat something?”

”Didn’t we just have dinner?”

”You ate less than ten bites of veggies, one meatball, and less than half a glass of soy milk; I know you’re not full.”

Luo Xiaoqian was stunned in her seat; he... he had been chatting with Xu Pei all the time, how could he know so clearly.

”Little Fool!” Leng Zimo glanced at her apologetically, ”Did you think I forgot about our dinner together?”

”No, it’s just that...” Luo Xiaoqian fiddled with the seat belt, ”I just didn’t like it.”

”Your ears, they’re red.” He said softly.

Luo Xiaoqian pursed her lips, ”How long have you known Xu Pei?”

”Her dad and my dad have been good friends for many years, and I’ve known her since she was born...” Leng Zimo stopped halfway, suddenly halted, and glanced at Luo Xiaoqian sitting in the passenger seat, laughing out loud for a rare moment.

Luo Xiaoqian looked at him puzzled, not understanding his bright and brilliant laughter, ”Is my question that funny?!”

Leng Zimo glanced at the rear-view mirror and sharply turned the car out of the roadway, stopping at the side of the road and pulling up the handbrake. He turned towards her, lifted his hand, and pointed at himself.

”Does it look like I’m making fun of you?”

Luo Xiaoqian looked closely at his face; from his lips to his eyebrows and into his eyes, everything was filled with a smile, certainly not mockery, but rather the kind of joy that seemed to burst forth from his heart.
