I Am Your Natural Enemy

Going to fight with those lost souls who harbor thousands of resentments is questionable, whether they can win or not is another matter, but they wouldn’t even dare to go.

But if you ask them to deal with those sorcerers or head teacher Jiang and the like, well, alright, today I’ll even fight the unrighteous too.

Living in modern society, something that even the local law enforcement hasn’t opened a case for, you a smelly Taoist, why risk your life, when you arrive it’s likely the first people you’ll meet are those in uniform.

So it’s always been the case of well water not disturbing the river, with few conflicts happening.

Those sorcerers are quite careful in selecting their targets.

If pushed to the point of having no way out, anyone willing to exchange a life for a life, going to find a sorcerer must have no background, no money, and even neighbors who are not formidable.

Those Taoists with formal mentoring are still quite civil in their speech.

Then there are some collectively referred to as the Nanwu Taoists, actually folk Taoists or wild monks, or those without formal mentorship, mostly doing things like looking at feng shui, performing funeral rites.

There are many of these people, with complex backgrounds, learning a mix of various things, from Six Ren divination to Ziwei Doushu, from bone reading and matching Eight Characters, to seven-day offering rituals, seventh day soul summoning, from exorcising evil and catching ghosts, to asking rice bucket tricks, worshiping the Kitchen God, dispelling head-down spells, etc...

They are mainly from among the folk, focused on practicality, with a variety of specialties.

When going out to fight with demons and evil, pulling out an AK from a Taoist robe is not a strange thing.

The ones ordinary people come into contact with the most, mostly belong to the Nanwu Taoists.

Zhang Laoxi of Fuyu Mountain, his earlier means of making a living fell under the category of Nanwu Taoist, though he at least has formal mentorship and the opportunity to impart teaching, so his approach is more refined than the average Nanwu Taoist.

This is an extremely large group, with some full of righteousness, and others relying on tricks, conning, and swindling.

But in the Divine Land, with the Scorching Sun Department present, those career scammers who rear little ghosts to cause trouble at people’s houses and then pretend to be invited back to catch the ghosts by coincidence have been cleaned up several times already.

Now, the ghosts of the Divine Land all know that doing this carries a high risk, and the rewards and risks are completely disproportionate.

However, over in Nanyang, it’s a mix of fish and dragons, all kinds of people are present.

Compared to those sorcerers, the career scammers here are considered kind-hearted.

Now there’s a directive from above, with everyone wanting to topple those sorcerers.

For some people in Nanyang, the fall of these sorcerers equals opening up an ecological niche.

Thus, the situation has become that some want to vent their grievances, some want to seize the opportunity for revenge, and others are in it for profit.

Those sorcerers who were once rampant have suddenly become rats crossing the street.

Beside a winding mountain road in the west, Yan Zhikong stood by the roadside, first looking at the compass in his hand, then following its direction to look ahead.

In that area among the buildings, black smoke was rising, and gunshots could be heard continuously, in his eyes, he could also see the Yin Qi permeating, the sinister aura constantly fluctuating.

Yan Zhikong put away the compass, turned around and got into the car.

”Let’s go, Master.”

”Not going?”

”No need to go, it’s already ending over there.”

Just by observing the Qi, it could be roughly determined that his target had already been neutralized, probably captured, so it’s not appropriate for him to go claim credit.

The phone vibrated, Yan Zhikong answered a call, after listening, he sighed longingly.

”Truly ridiculous...”

Wen Yan from Fuyu Mountain, hadn’t even reached Nanyang and already picked up a ship, initially thinking that bringing along a thousand or eight hundred water ghosts was outrageous enough.

Unexpectedly, now bringing nearly ten thousand lost souls with sky-high resentment, and waving the flag of fighting the unrighteous, has already made many uneasy in this place.

This was the third time in the last half-day that he had encountered such a situation.

The first two times, when he arrived, the target was already taken away once, and had been beaten to a pulp once.

This time, before he even reached the scene, the target had already surrendered.

Before coming to Nanyang, he was considering quickly resolving the situation with a swift strike to cut through the mess, firstly to quickly return, and secondly, if quick enough, perhaps the sorcerers behind wouldn’t get the news and wouldn’t run away.

He understood the strategic purpose this time, so he knew in his heart that with such a large area, it’s unlikely to clear all the sorcerers on the list.

Even though they might be arrogant, it doesn’t mean they’re stupid, right?

The first one, the second one, might stay there waiting for you to knock at the door.

But after you promptly and efficiently dealt with two or three, won’t the remaining ones lay low to avoid the limelight?

Yan Zhikong was well aware that the targets on the list, he and Wen Yan, one east and one west, at most could only deal with a third, which would already be quite remarkable.

So, from the start, he went to deal with the targets with the heaviest suspicion first.

But he didn’t expect Wen Yan to go so big, even though there’s a bit of a forceful implication, in hand he’s truly holding a banner of fighting the unrighteous that anyone has to begrudgingly acknowledge, the Nanyang Union has to recognize it, and afterwards, they have to politely thank them.

Yan Zhikong looked at the new message received, chuckled silently, it certainly wasn’t the Scorching Sun Department’s scheme, the Scorching Sun Department is all about stability, impossible to believe a martial artist could control nearly ten thousand sky-high resentful lost souls.

The Scorching Sun Department couldn’t possibly send someone to do that willingly.

Thinking of this, Yan Zhikong felt a bit speechless, he knew the consistent style of the Scorching Sun Department, and surely the people here in Nanyang know it too...
