I Am Your Natural Enemy

”Every choice you make from here on out will affect how things develop and what changes happen.”

”Temporary Ability.

1: Purification.

2: Blood Sacrifice.”

Wen Yan immediately equipped both Temporary Abilities.

Purification: Expel evil and gloom, wash away filth, restore the target to its original state (requires possessing Scorching Sun with progress greater than 50%).

Blood Sacrifice: Use fresh blood as the guide to complete a sacrifice.

After casually equipping the Temporary Abilities, Wen Yan glanced again and was startled.

There are actually Temporary Abilities?

This isn’t right. When he saw things before and triggered prompts, there didn’t seem to be any Temporary Abilities?

It was always just introductions and prompts, right?

So this means... this ghost battleship is actually alive?

Wen Yan stretched out his hand and slapped the nearest Evil Spirit to him into an exploding mess, then looked at the prompt again and carefully mulled it over.

This ship was launched roughly ninety years ago, back then it was the absolute bottom of The Last Dharma Decline Era, so low it couldn’t get any lower.

Pulling off such a grand ritual at that time, using a whole ship full of people as a sacrifice, you could forget about any big reaction; there was absolutely no way it could succeed.

It would take about another forty years or so before Spiritual Qi Resurgence even showed a hint of sprouting.

By that time, this ship had already been lying on the ocean floor for decades.

Given the level of technology back then, with someone deliberately covering things up, and with no one knowing how far and how long it had drifted off course, trying to find a single wreck in this ocean that covers one-third of the world’s surface, stretches nearly twenty thousand kilometers across, has depths of over ten thousand meters at its deepest and averages three to four thousand meters?

To put it nicely, it’s literally a needle in a haystack—only this haystack is the sea.

To put it bluntly: wash up and go to sleep, you can find anything in your dreams.

Decades later, there were still people searching, but they never found it, couldn’t even find a scrap of a clue.

The only thing that could be confirmed was simply that the ship sank in the ocean; even the approximate area wasn’t certain.

After Wen Yan read through it carefully several times, he basically understood.

The ritual at the time did indeed take place, but it failed; even so, it still stirred up a bit of an effect.

It’s like many Finger Prints, Seal Techniques, Curse Scriptures, or exorcism methods—ordinary people can actually use them too.

The most straightforward example is tip-of-the-tongue blood, fingertip blood and the like.

Bluntly put, you’ve got no mana bar, but you still have your HP bar, so you just burn HP as MP.

So, even though it was at the absolute bottom of The Last Dharma Decline Era, everyone on this ship died.

There was very likely a massacre at the time; blood, flesh, Souls, the intense emotions at the brink of death and so on, all amounted to a massive HP bar forcibly stacked into an MP bar.

The ritual had not the slightest chance of success, but Power still existed.

All of that sank with the ship to the seabed, suppressed by the ocean, and settled into the hull.

After decades of sedimentation, then another several decades of Spiritual Qi Resurgence, and now that it’s just entered the second stage of Spiritual Qi Resurgence—the Ghost version.

This ship has finally reached the point of eruption; Evil Spirits have begun to appear, and they might still be carrying out the things they once failed to complete.

Those sedimented Powers were reactivated, but after nearly a hundred years, everything has changed.

Those Powers had already sunk in and fused with the ship itself, and once triggered, it was only the ship that profited, giving it a bit of the supernatural.

It started to transform toward something living.

Wen Yan understood; no wonder it had been drifting with the current and should’ve been far away from them—it really shouldn’t have been possible to run into them.

Looking at it now, it had indeed actively accelerated to close in on their side.

He just didn’t know whether the ship approached on its own, or the Evil Spirits here were controlling the ship to come over.

Wen Yan lifted his head and looked around; the rust on the bulkheads kept flaking off, and Evil Spirits crawled out from within one after another. Standing on the bridge and looking outward, it was still pitch-black.

Wen Yan looked at these Evil Spirits; their Power was indeed far stronger than ordinary Ghosts. Coupled with the intense resentment, twisted bodies and faces, the average level of these Evil Spirits was even higher than those Water Ghosts on the sunken ship.

For non-professionals, stepping in here basically means certain death. Even a weaker Taoist, or one inadequately prepared, entering here would have a very high chance of wiping out.

However, since the ship entered the Divine Land Central Region and still dared to attack an expert hired by the Scorching Sun Department, from any angle you look at it, Wen Yan had automatically obtained unlimited counterattack authorization.

Wen Yan took out his phone, snapped a few photos, then shot a short several-second video, and recorded the latitude and longitude; that was enough to get the point across.

He’d seen this on the Scorching Sun Department forum, shared as practical experience by members from Southern Sea commandery.

After all, there are no obvious landmarks on the sea to determine position. Most of the time, you just note things down a bit; if anything comes up later and someone dares to run their mouth, you can spit it right back in their face.

Wen Yan put away his phone, and the Yang Energy on his body suddenly erupted. Within the blazing Yang Energy, there was a tinge of blood-colored hue, like fierce flames roaring past.

The Temporary Ability Purification attached to his Yang Energy swept out in a wide-range, indiscriminate wave. Those Evil Spirits that had been passively leveling up thanks to the version update were hit, and the resentment, Yin Qi, and strange Powers on them were scrubbed away by the tide of fire, rapidly dissipating.

Once the strange Powers were forcibly scorched and washed off, the twisted faces of each Evil Spirit began to revert to what they should have originally looked like.

The pain and torment they carried faded as well; amidst their wails, they turned into slightly translucent Soul Bodies one after another.
