I Am Your Natural Enemy

The Water Ghost with the long blade hanging at his waist noticed the commotion. Since they’d all been seen, it was best to quickly get the other Water Ghosts to work.

He invited Wen Yan into the cabin.

”Star Lord, please come inside.”

”I’m not the Star Lord, just call me by my name.”

”Okay, Star Lord.” This Ghost was resolute, convinced that Wen Yan was the Star Lord incarnate. He could listen to everything else, but not this.

He feared that if he truly believed those words, Wen Yan would never come again.

And this was discussed by these Water Ghosts before, as an old Water Ghost had said it.

All the Ghosts believed it wholeheartedly, even Wen Yan’s personal denial couldn’t change their minds.

”Forget it, you can call me however you like, can you tell me about the recent situation?”

The Long Blade Floating Ghost immediately began recounting from the time Wen Yan had helped them liberate dozens of Ghosts.

They followed tradition and set their ambitions.

Soon, they gathered several hundred Ghosts, even acquiring three sunken ships.

Of course, the least valuable thing in the sea was a sunken ship, but finding suitable ones wasn’t easy.

They combined three ships, five to six hundred Water Ghosts, helping the Scorching Sun Department twice, completing the initial collaboration, and began their first rebellion.

From the deep sea cave, they rescued several hundred Water Ghosts.

The monsters within the deep sea cave attempted to counterattack but, sensing the presence of the Southern Sea Fleet, were frightened away.

Now they have six sunken ships and over a thousand Water Ghosts.

Only six ships, because three of them are barely usable.

Also, the Water Ghosts on the ships aren’t only from the Divine Land; a small portion are Nanyang Water Ghosts. These Water Ghosts have no problem with verbal communication and lack hostility and bloodlust.

The Water Ghosts who have harmed others will never board the ship.

But they only made an initial judgment and checked it themselves, leaving it to Wen Yan for final evaluation.

The Long Blade Floating Ghost specifically mentioned he didn’t promise these Ghosts liberation just because Wen Yan arrived.

He personally advised Wen Yan not to be soft-hearted, because whether human or Ghost, people don’t cherish things that come easily.

Many Ghosts later on are different from those before; the earlier Ghosts were already grouped together, their ambition was to achieve liberation for everyone.

Wen Yan pondered for a moment and said.

”I don’t have absolute confidence in being able to liberate the Water Ghosts; everything depends on fate.”

”That’s what the Star Lord says!”

Wen Yan sighed internally; his point was that while his thoughts may influence the outcome, this influence isn’t absolute, and triggering an effect or not really depends on luck.

These sentiments couldn’t be clearly explained to the other party.

Clearly, the other party didn’t interpret things the way he intended.

”Then just follow the rules of the Scorching Sun Department, where merits speak for themselves. That way, it remains fair and impartial, with no complaints from anyone.”

”We follow the Star Lord’s orders!”

”Besides that deep sea creature, is there anything else recently?”

”Earlier, a brother saw a giant octopus, whose size varies at different depths. We suspect it might be raised by someone from Nanyang.”

”Anything else?”

”There is also, yesterday a brother spotted a Ghost Ship drifting from the ocean toward the Southern Sea. We’ve already informed the Scorching Sun Department.”

”Right, just report anything you discover directly to the Scorching Sun Department.

By the way, you mentioned some individuals weren’t originally from the Divine Land.

Are there any Water Ghosts familiar with the Nanyang sorcerers in there?”

”Yes!” Long Blade Floating Ghost nodded immediately.

”There’s a Ghost who was driven to family ruin by a sorcerer, was encased in cement, sealed with talismans, and drowned in the ocean.

He was trapped at the sea bottom, undergoing a daily cycle of death, repeating endlessly.

Only when I used the long blade left by the Star Lord to cut open the talisman, was he released.

His family went south to Nanyang during his grandfather’s generation, with ancestry from Haidong Prefecture.

His accent is even more precise than mine.

We’ve verified this specifically, there are no issues.”

”Hmm? You can investigate such things too?”

”The Star Lord might not know, in those ghostly places of Nanyang, those sorcerers aren’t actually secretive.

Sorcerer is how we refer to them, or a translation.

Their local name isn’t actually sorcerer; the original meaning should be people living outside the city who possess the powers of spirits.

This Ghost’s surname is Chen, I heard it was something his grandfather left behind when he ventured south.

Eventually passed onto him, and someone coveted the item he held.

He considered it ancestral, refusing to sell.

In the end, his family fell apart, his wife became a vegetable after a fall, and his son died from leukemia.

He refused to yield, ultimately facing the local gang, encased in cement, leaving only his head visible and drowned at sea.

Everyone guessed the ending, but they insisted this man had an exit record, so wasn’t considered missing, no body, and no case was filed.”

As Wen Yan listened, he captured key information,.

He took out a sealed phone and pulled up a list.

”What’s the name of that sorcerer? Where is he located?”

”To the east of the Nanyang Union, at a place known as Simple Island, the sorcerer’s name is Da En.”

Wen Yan compared it to the list, Feng Yao’s information was detailed, with map annotations.

Indeed, the name was present in the list.

”Go bring that Water Ghost over here, I have something to ask him.”

Soon after, a Water Ghost stained with cement and covered with knife wounds followed over.

This Water Ghost had fallen to the back earlier and hadn’t seen what Wen Yan looked like.

Now, at such proximity, he realized Wen Yan was a living person, seemingly unaided by any device, maintaining composure in the water, without signs of drowning, and even seemed more adapted than the Water Ghosts; witnessing this, the Water Ghost knelt and bowed.

”Chen Jiuming pays respects to the Star Lord!”

”Stand up, I have some questions for you; many who offended that sorcerer suffered blood illnesses?”
