I Am Your Natural Enemy

Golden light flashed frequently; this Soul Summoning ability was facing a huge challenge.

This might be the only time since this ability appeared that the person casting Soul Summoning had a summoning target that was his own Soul.

But it still made perfect sense, because Wen Yan had long since lost his Soul; his Soul had been given to his dumb son.

On the other side, the dumb son, who had just eaten his fill and was sleeping spreadeagled with his hands up and legs apart, suddenly opened his eyes, and a faint eerie blue glow surfaced in them.

Wen Yan called to his own Soul; the innate compatibility far surpassed that of any other target of Soul Summoning, and that inborn connection could cross any distance.

The dumb son felt it, but this Soul Summoning was impossible to succeed; Wen Yan wasn’t summoning his own Soul, nor was he summoning the dumb son.

He was summoning the Soul Devouring Beast; that was also the only thing that could possibly be summoned.

The dumb son’s eyes went wide as he stared straight at the ceiling, then he seemed to hear some keywords like ”eat,” ”full,” ”have a taste.”

He smacked his lips once, then closed his eyes.

The next moment, in that empty void space, the enormous Soul Devouring Beast, whose body had shrunk just a little bit more, twitched slightly, and a few of its tentacles that glowed with eerie blue light stirred a little.

Using Soul Summoning, the Soul connection, the father–son relationship and a series of other links, a thread of golden light was formed.

Several of the Soul Devouring Beast’s tentacles slowly vanished from that void space within the golden light.

On the other side, the golden light beneath Wen Yan’s feet flared, and a soft eerie blue glow emerged within the Gold.

An eerie blue tentacle, only a little over one meter thick but three or four kilometers long, burst out of the golden light.

The gigantic tentacle coiled around the Dahlia was swept by the eerie blue tentacle and passed through it like a phantom; that massive tentacle didn’t suffer any injury at all.

However, as the eerie blue tentacle floated past it lightly, the phantom of an octopus tentacle was drawn out.

In the air, the fierce, violent aura filled with barbaric bloodlust suddenly stalled.

The dead silence here seemed to grow even heavier in an instant.

The Soul song that ears could not hear began its symphony.

Buzz... buzz... buzz...

The strange buzzing, accompanied by the Soul’s fear and despairing wails, echoed over this Black Sea.

The eerie blue tentacle, several kilometers long, drifted past lightly, and another enormous Soul appeared hanging from it.

A Soul at least forty or fifty meters long, octopus-shaped, but on the octopus head there was something like a human upper body three or four meters tall.

That huge transparent Soul phantom was forcibly ripped from its flesh.

No matter how he howled, how he despaired, how he struggled, it was all in vain.

The kilometers-long tentacle swept lightly and indiscriminately toward Zhou Wei around it.

Four or five Souls in a row of monsters with three-or-four-meter-tall humanoid upper bodies and octopus lower bodies tens of meters long were all torn out.

On the deck, those Ghosts that had been through Purification froze one by one where they stood; let alone resisting, just being shone on by that eerie blue light was enough to keep them from moving at all, their consciousness growing hazy as they could only stare helplessly at the eerie blue tentacle flying over their heads.

Valak, on the other hand, was lying flat on the ground in a completely undignified heap, hands raised to show his surrender.

His eyeballs were trembling wildly, and he stammered uncontrollably, swearing oaths at random.

”I swear I’ll never come to the Divine Land again, I swear, I swear to God, I swear to the Bodhisattva, I swear to the Heavenly Emperor Mage, I swear to the ancient philosopher Confucius...”

The Soul Devouring Beast’s slender tentacle drifted by, pierced into the sea, and spent a full half minute making a circuit.

After that one circuit, five enormous giant beast Souls were hanging from the slender tentacle as it slowly retracted.

And in the distance, beyond Wen Yan’s sight, those even more ferocious, domineering auras he had sensed were fleeing rapidly.

The remaining octopus giant beasts were also bolting madly toward the distance, toward the deeper seabed, like they’d been scared into a stress reaction.

Even the Dahlia’s smokestacks had stopped belching black smoke; there was no more woo-woo sound.

The world fell quiet all at once; only the Soul Devouring Beast’s slender tentacle was still slowly dragging several giant beast Souls.

Those massive giant beast Souls began twisting and pulling as they touched the Gold under Wen Yan’s feet, as if being dragged by the eerie blue tentacle into some narrow hole.

Wen Yan patted the Soul Devouring Beast’s tentacle and reminded it.

”Eat slowly, don’t stuff yourself.”

The tentacle didn’t respond much, and Wen Yan dropped it; the dumb son was playing dumb again, pretending he couldn’t hear. Forget it, it was rare to get a feeding like this, let him be.

After dragging over four giant beast Souls, when only the last one was left, the eerie blue tentacle gave a twist, and a tentacle over ten meters long on that giant beast Soul was sliced off by the eerie blue tentacle’s coil and then fell in front of Wen Yan; one end of the severed tentacle just happened to land in his hand.

The next moment, the eerie blue tentacle vanished completely into the golden light.

”...”

Wen Yan held one corner of this huge fragment of Soul and smacked his lips, at a loss for words.

The dumb son was actually pretty filial; even when eating, he knew to share a bite with his dad so he could have a taste.

He dispersed the Soul Summoning; the golden light and the altar faded with it. Wen Yan didn’t bother with the over-ten-meters-long Soul fragment tentacle that had fallen to the deck.
