I Am Your Natural Enemy

Wen Yan looked at the scene in front of him, feeling somewhat incredulous.

It’s not that such things couldn’t happen in Divine Land, but rather the evil anomalies there didn’t dare to be so rampant for so many years without dying.

He glanced around; this wasn’t some remote wilderness, devoid of people.

This was even a well-known tourist island locally, standing on the slope, you could see the seaside in the distance with resorts.

And not far from this island is the largest island locally, where millions of people live in this entire region.

Compared to Divine Land, it’s equivalent to a popular tourist spot in the Capital’s Fourth and Fifth Ring, where people often bury corpses right beside the highway at the entrance of the attraction, so blatantly, and the Scorching Sun Department hasn’t discovered it in twenty or thirty years or simply ignored it.

Wen Yan was shocked, now he no longer considers this as mere rampage, but rather a sign of the collapse of order.

Or, to summarize it directly with a bold assertion: Ever since the Spiritual Qi Resurgence, or the acceleration of the Spiritual Qi Resurgence, Nanyang has never truly established the related order.

Previously, Wen Yan saw the Dahlia, and through it, he glimpsed the other side of the Black Sea, witnessing the giant beasts there.

Additionally, in recent years, there are increasingly frequent incidents of sea beasts attacking ships in the current world, and some witnessed incidents with videos.

He previously suspected that the progress of the Spiritual Qi Resurgence in the ocean was faster than that on land.

Now, it might need revision; there are many indefinite paths, or unstable temporary routes in the ocean, much more than on land.

Under such a large environment, most member states in the Nanyang Union are surrounded by the ocean, coupled with the current situation in Nanyang.

Wen Yan only felt that something terrible was brewing.

Given the increasingly rapid progress of Spiritual Qi Resurgence, the probability of something major happening here is continuously rising.

Previously, Wen Yan heard that Divine Land had started laying out plans ten years ago, with land transport routes extending from Northwest to Northeast, and now the main land transport route has begun to take shape.

At that time, Wen Yan merely thought it might be due to increasingly foreseeable risks on the sea surface.

After coming to Nanyang personally, Wen Yan understood that it’s not just the risk on the sea surface, but the Nanyang Union itself might also contain enormous risks.

And the risk related to people is much more complex than the risk brought by those exotic beasts in the sea.

Wen Yan began to feel that the General Director sending him and Yan Zhikong, two juniors, might have had another intention.

He has some perception of his own power level, and indeed many are stronger than him; those giants so formidable that they wouldn’t even bother to leave a hint do exist in Divine Land.

But, not necessarily in Nanyang.

As for Yan Zhikong, being a descender from Mount Laojun, his strength definitely isn’t weak, and when he gets into action, he’s much more ruthless, directly sending people to cremation services.

No matter how much these two juniors cause trouble, they are still juniors.

If there’s any issue, the Scorching Sun Department’s response will definitely be: After taking them back, we’ll certainly criticize and educate them thoroughly.

If it were someone like the Wudang Sect Leader, it would be different.

The kind of trouble Wen Yan and these juniors could make, wouldn’t be the same for those giants; the nature is different, and the way and difficulty of mediating afterward also differ.

Wen Yan stared at those tree roots for quite a while, as all sorts of chaotic thoughts emerged in his mind.

He looked at the posture of those skeletons, along with those two corpses that hadn’t completely decomposed yet, envisioning the past process.

”I always feel, they seemed to have been buried here before they were fully gone.”

The Deformed Corpse beside him nodded in agreement.

”Yes, they were still alive underground for quite a significant time, at least four or five days. It’s only when people are alive that the blood circulates, facilitating the roots’ thorough infiltration.

This is a method of living sacrifice, maximizing the extraction and maximizing the growth of resentment.

The deceased couldn’t possibly escape, their souls are bound to the spot by immense pain and resentment.

After a long time, their souls will twist and shatter, turning into nourishment.

The things growing on these trees should be materials for performing evil magic.

To be honest, even the most rampant Demons I’ve heard of in my living days weren’t this blatant.

Back then, even the Great Demons in Divine Land considered this too low-level, not even worthy of recording their names.

At most, the county chronicles would record that on such and such a year and month, an Evil Demon did something, someone came to slay them, and then the name of the demon slayer was recorded.”

Wen Yan raised his head, looking at the forest with large swathes of red leaves; it seemed quite beautiful.

By the roadside in the distance, tourists were still taking photos and checking in.

At this moment, some had already discovered a tree had fallen over here, and some people, seemingly locals from departments like the Scorching Sun Department, had begun to clear the site.

Wen Yan squatted on the ground, looking at a tiny skeleton, most no larger than 1.3 meters, then at another nearby one, seemingly protecting the former in its embrace.

He looked up at the sky; it’s still fine, though it’s bright, the sun hasn’t risen yet, and today, the clouds are pretty thick.

He stamped his foot, and an altar’s shadow rose beneath him; as the golden light emerged, Wen Yan stepped onto it, reaching out a hand to grasp that small skeleton.

The big skeleton holding the small one had an arm bone, seemingly dragged by the roots, falling down, releasing that small skeleton.

The golden light extended along Wen Yan’s arm to the small skeleton; as Wen Yan pulled, amidst the shining golden light, a child’s Soul Body, no older than about ten, with a vacant look and covered in defects, was pulled up by Wen Yan.
