Medical Sage

Guan Shiyin’s rented residence in Oak Forest Community was a relatively high-end complex. All the necessary amenities, including supermarkets, produce markets, restaurants, and bus stations, were nearby, so Chen Fei didn’t have to travel far for soy sauce, salt, and eggs. He could get them all at the supermarket right outside the community.

Meanwhile, the great beauty Guan Shiyin was lying face down on her pink bed in a most unladylike posture. Her fair, flawless face was blushing, as she was apparently still embarrassed about what had happened earlier.

Just then, her phone suddenly rang. Still somewhat groggy, Guan Shiyin answered without even looking at the screen.

”Shi Yin, I heard you’re with Brother Fei? How’s it going?” It was Gu Fei Shuang’s voice on the other end of the line, her teasing tone carrying a strange undercurrent.

However, Guan Shiyin was quite muddled herself, her mind preoccupied with her own embarrassment. She failed to notice the oddity in her best friend’s words and replied instinctively, ”You mean Chen Fei? Yeah, he’s a pretty decent guy.”

”Of course, he is! If Brother Fei hadn’t helped me out twice, I wouldn’t know what to do right now. Have you settled down in Northern Mountain? How’s the work handover coming along?” Gu Fei Shuang sounded smug before her voice filled with genuine concern.

”Of course I’ve settled in. But it seems like there’s a nasty woman here who can’t stand me. She targeted me on the very first day I reported for duty. Ugh, really… But Gu Fei Shuang, your tone seems a bit off! Spill it. Did something happen between you and that Chen Fei? Hmm~?”

After hearing Gu Fei Shuang’s strange tone twice in a row, even the slow-witted Guan Shiyin finally noticed something was amiss. A curious expression appeared on her face, but she spoke with the deadpan seriousness of Sherlock himself.

”Hey, no, what are you talking about, Shi Yin? I… I just feel really grateful to Brother Fei for helping me so many times. That’s all. Don’t go spreading rumors.”

On the other end of the line, Gu Fei Shuang’s voice became even more flustered. She sounded utterly embarrassed, speaking in a shy, breathy little voice.

”Aha! Lovesick Gu Fei Shuang, don’t tell me you’ve been watching too many TV dramas. All this ’so grateful to him for helping me so many times’ stuff… as if I’d believe that! Hey, Fei Shuang, you haven’t actually fallen for him, have you? Although, he does seem to be quite…” Guan Shiyin, caught up in her own words, nearly let something slip but managed to stop herself just in time.

”Quite what? Hey, Shi Yin, don’t leave me hanging!” Gu Fei Shuang asked, puzzled by her friend’s hesitation.

”Ah, it’s nothing. It’s just that he scared off an annoying guy earlier. He looked like he knew martial arts. It was so manly.” Although Guan Shiyin spoke nonchalantly, she unwittingly recalled the scene. Her beautiful eyes curved into crescents, shining like gemstones filled with allure.

”Hmph, of course he is! I told you Brother Fei is incredible. I bet three or five regular bodyguards would be no match for him, believe it or not.” Hearing Guan Shiyin praise Chen Fei for being manly, Gu Fei Shuang couldn’t hold back a joyful laugh and spoke with great enthusiasm.

She certainly hadn’t forgotten the incident on the plane a few days ago! That fatso Lau Tianqi must have weighed over two hundred pounds, yet Chen Fei sent him flying with a single kick, knocking him completely silly. How could he not be impressive?

”Hey, hey, you lovesick girl! Gu Fei Shuang, I really think you’re a lost cause now. Are you in heat or something?” Guan Shiyin couldn’t resist teasing.

”Pfft, you’re the one in heat! Shi Yin, just remember, Brother Fei has a great personality, but you have to keep one thing in mind: never, ever go against him. Otherwise, you’re guaranteed to have a terrible time. I have to start filming now, so I’m hanging up.” Gu Fei Shuang hurriedly ended the call.

”Tch, that little brat has gotten bold, daring to hang up on me first…”

Hearing the beeping in her ear, Guan Shiyin muttered in dissatisfaction. She fell back onto the pink bed and stared blankly in an adorable daze. Her muddled mind was a chaotic mess as she recalled the earlier moment when Chen Fei acted as her knight in shining armor, and that other moment when the lecher was ogling her long legs… As she thought about it, she suddenly smiled.

Are they really that nice to look at? You damned men, always sneaking a peek at my legs. Guan Shiyin’s delicate fingers gently traced the seductive length of her own legs. The perfect, undulating curves seemed like a divine gift, full of resilience and fairy-tale magic.

If any man had witnessed this sight, he probably would have gone mad.

But she merely smiled, her gemstone-like eyes creasing into crescents as she pouted and murmured to herself with a hint of dissatisfaction.

「...」

”Boss, I’d like to pay.”

Meanwhile, just as Chen Fei was about to pay at the supermarket, he suddenly spotted a guy with an extremely hostile expression smirking menacingly as he approached.

Flanking the man were two obviously burly fellows. Their biceps were as toned as those of the super-bodyguards on television, and their bulging pecs stretched their black T-shirts taut. They were clearly trained fighters. The other shoppers nervously gave them a wide berth.

The man with the grim expression was, of course, Zheng Kuangyi, the same man he had taught a lesson to earlier. It looked like he had brought backup.

A ghost that just won’t go away.

Chen Fei muttered speechlessly. Then, with a calm expression, he paid for his items and smiled at the supermarket owner. ”Boss, please hold onto these for me. I’ll be back for them in a bit.”

”Young man… be careful.” The supermarket owner was clearly a kind-hearted person, but he didn’t dare provoke Zheng Kuangyi’s intimidating group. He ended up just whispering the warning, telling Chen Fei to watch out for himself.

”Mm, I know.”

Chen Fei nodded with a smile and turned to face Zheng Kuangyi, who now stood before him with a ferocious look. ”I have to say, you really are persistent,” Chen Fei said calmly. ”Ah, whatever. Let’s go to that park over there. It’s less crowded.”

Hearing Chen Fei’s impatient tone, Zheng Kuangyi’s reflexive anger flared, but he managed to suppress it. He glanced at the surroundings, and a cold smile spread across his lips. ”Brat, as you wish. Let’s see where you run to today.”

”Run?”

Chen Fei glanced at the two men beside Zheng Kuangyi, a faint, mocking smile touching his lips. ”You’re overthinking things. You think these two are enough?”

”You!”

The two thugs were incredulous. They were here in person, yet this skinny young man in his twenties, frail as a chick, still dared to be so arrogant in front of them. Coldness flashed in their eyes. ”Boss, I want to break his legs later!”

”Then don’t hold back! I, Zheng Kuangyi, will take responsibility for anything that happens!” Hearing this, a cruel smile appeared on Zheng Kuangyi’s face.

The park near Oak Forest Community on Long March Road in Northern Mountain City had not yet reached its peak time for evening strollers, so there weren’t many people around. After entering the park, Chen Fei, Zheng Kuangyi, and the others headed straight for a more secluded area.

”I’ve got to hand it to you, kid. You’re pretty smart, deliberately leading us to this secluded corner of the park. Are you planning to get on your knees and beg me for mercy? Rest assured, if you’re willing to kneel, I, Zheng Kuangyi, might just consider sparing you! Hahaha!” Once they stopped, the wildly arrogant Zheng Kuangyi carelessly tossed his cigarette butt to the ground, stomped on it fiercely, and laughed without restraint.

Zheng Kuangyi was, after all, a notorious boss in Northern Mountain City’s Black Clothes Gang. He controlled two Four Star Level hotels, five KTVs, and three nightclubs, not to mention a whole mess of foot massage parlors and bathhouses. He was already considered a model example of a gangster who had successfully gone legitimate. But today, he had suffered a setback at Chen Fei’s hands, and he was determined to get his revenge immediately.

Fortunately, he happened to have the gang’s two best enforcers with him, and the damned kid hadn’t even run away! It was the perfect opportunity to teach him a proper lesson!

”Alright, cut it out. Would it kill you to stop posturing? Are these two idiots all you brought? Why don’t you all just come at me at once? I’m in a hurry,” Chen Fei said with impatient disdain, as if they weren’t even worth his time. His words instantly infuriated Zheng Kuangyi’s prized enforcers.

”Damn it, do you know who you’re talking to? Believe it or not, I’ll break your legs!” one of the thugs, his face a mass of thick flesh, snarled as he lunged forward.

”Not so fast.”

Zheng Kuangyi suddenly raised a hand to stop him. He looked at Chen Fei with a contemptuous, mocking sneer. ”Kid, honestly, it’s been a long time since I’ve met someone as arrogant as you. But arrogance has its limits. After all, in this society, there are people you can’t afford to offend. People like me. Do you understand?” As he spoke, his friendly demeanor vanished as he launched a vicious sneak attack, kicking out at Chen Fei.

”Idiot.”

But who was Chen Fei? He was the inheritor of a legacy from a grand master of the Cultivation World and the disciple of an Innate Level Expert. His own power had already reached the Peak of the Third Layer of Qi Cultivation. He naturally dodged the kick with ease and then, with a slight flick of his hand—

SLAP!

Zheng Kuangyi clutched his stinging face, completely baffled.

You bastard… you hit my face again?

The two top enforcers from the Black Clothes Gang, who had been standing on either side of Zheng Kuangyi, were also stunned.

How had Chen Fei even moved? Neither of them seemed to have processed it in time
