”So, it really is you. But how did you get my number, and what do you need help with?” Chen Fei asked, his brow furrowed. He was certain he hadn’t given her his number. And as for helping? He wasn’t some great philanthropist with a ton of spare time to help everyone, was he?

”Well, uh... Brother Fei, please let me explain. It’s like this: I didn’t plan on troubling you at first because I had already asked Young Master Hua for help. However, it seems Young Master Hua ran into some urgent matter and can’t make it back from Macau. He’s the one who sent me your number and told me to call you...” Hearing the displeasure in Chen Fei’s tone, Ye Zilin immediately understood and cautiously began to explain.

”Oh, so Slickhead gave you my number. Alright then, what’s the matter?” Hearing this, Chen Fei could only feel resigned. Since this trouble was brought to him by Slickhead, what could he do? He had to take the call, whether he wanted to or not.

”Thank you, Brother Fei.” At the other end of the line, Ye Zilin breathed a sigh of relief and continued, ”Brother Fei, do you remember Shi Yin, the one we mentioned last time? She’s a close friend of mine and Fei Shuang’s.”

”Shi Yin? Oh, I remember. What’s wrong with her?” Chen Fei asked, stroking his chin as he recalled. He remembered her name being mentioned that night in Tongzhou City. He’d also heard she was quite pretty, but unfortunately, he never got to meet her.

”Shi Yin went to Northern Mountain City a few days ago, but not for a vacation. She was transferred to the Northern Mountain City Television Station; the transfer is official,” Ye Zilin hurriedly explained.

”Northern Mountain City Television? Wait, didn’t you guys say that Shi Yin was a host at the provincial TV station? Why would she be transferred to our Northern Mountain City?” Chen Fei asked, confused. His memory was sharp, so he remembered them saying that Shi Yin was a host at the Jiangnan Province Television Station. How could she have been transferred to Northern Mountain?

”Shi Yin offended someone at the provincial TV station. That person has a powerful background and enough sway to call the shots there, so this is what happened,” Ye Zilin said, her voice filled with a powerless frustration. What could they do? That was just reality! The other person held a pivotal position at the provincial TV station. As minor figures, they had no choice but to grit their teeth and bear it.

”Oh, I see. But you’re not going to ask me to get your friend transferred back, are you? To be honest, I can’t help with that. I don’t have that kind of clout,” Chen Fei said, feeling a bit guilty. The provincial TV station? He’d never even been there, let alone known anyone. How was he supposed to help?

”Brother Fei, you’re joking again. How could I possibly ask you for something so impossible? Besides, even if you could get Shi Yin back, with that person still there, I doubt she would want to go back anyway,” Ye Zilin chided gently.

That made sense. With that influential figure at the provincial TV station against her, a junior host like her would likely only suffer if she returned, so there was no point. Realizing this, Chen Fei asked, ”Alright, then what is it exactly? Miss Ye, please don’t keep me in suspense.”

”Okay, Brother Fei, I’ll get straight to the point. Tonight, there’s a celebration party at the Luxury Clubhouse in Northern Mountain City. Shi Yin is all alone in the city, and she’s worried she’ll be bullied if she goes by herself. She’s looking for someone to accompany her,” Ye Zilin said, cutting to the chase.

”Is that it?” Chen Fei asked, stunned.

”Yes, that’s it,” Ye Zilin confirmed.

”Seriously? I thought it was some huge deal. You should have just said so. I happen to be free tonight. Tell her to call me directly later,” Chen Fei said with a look of exasperation, agreeing without a second thought.

”You agreed? That’s wonderful! Brother Fei, listen, Shi Yin just arrived in your city. She doesn’t know the area or anyone there—you’re pretty much her only friend. So, please, you have to introduce a few friends to her later, okay?” Hearing how easygoing Chen Fei was, she immediately started playing the sympathy card for her friend’s benefit.

”Introduce my friends to her? If you’re talking about those scions in Northern Mountain City, then you’re going to be disappointed. I’m not familiar with the so-called high-society circle here and barely know anyone,” Chen Fei quickly clarified, rolling his eyes to warn her beforehand.

”You’re such a joker, Brother Fei. As if I’d believe you this time! Anyway, I don’t care. Shi Yin is in your hands now. If she gets wronged in any way, I’m going to tattle to Young Master Hua! Humph!” Ye Zilin said coquettishly.

Of course, she didn’t believe his ’nonsense.’ Xiao Ming was a prominent rich second-generation heir in Jiangnan Province’s circles. How could someone he respected so much—a ”Brother Fei” who was even highly regarded by President Liu of Huashu Media, the famous godfather of the entertainment industry—not have connections in his own local elite circle? And while this wasn’t for herself, she, Shi Yin, and Gu Feishuang were as close as sisters. She naturally hoped her sister could quickly establish herself in the unfamiliar city of Northern Mountain and not be bullied. That was why she had steeled herself to make this call, even though she barely knew Chen Fei.

”Tattling won’t... Ugh, forget it. I’ll figure something out,” Chen Fei said, a headache building as he decided to just bite the bullet.

His only hope was that Huang Feng would be there tonight. Or maybe he should just call him? Otherwise, where was he supposed to find friends to introduce to this Shi Yin? Damn, just thinking about this ’chore’ felt like a crime!

”Heh heh, I knew you were the best, Brother Fei! I’ll hang up now and have Shi Yin call you,” Ye Zilin chuckled, her tone a mix of tomboyishness and playful charm. It seemed she had figured out his temperament. He was actually quite easy to talk to. She’d been needlessly scared before.

”Geez...” Chen Fei couldn’t help but groan in frustration upon hearing her chuckle, his face a portrait of misery.

A moment later, his phone rang again. It was another unfamiliar number, but Chen Fei answered it directly, muttering dispiritedly, ”Hello?”

”Hello, may I speak with Mr. Chen Fei? My name is Guan Shiyin. I’m Zilin’s friend.” A brief silence was followed by a soft, crisp female voice. It sounded like an enchanting whisper right in his ear, causing Chen Fei’s gloomy expression to freeze. His heart fluttered as if a kitten were pawing at it, and he instantly perked up.

As expected of a TV host, that voice was to die for—so alluring. Heh heh. Maybe tonight wouldn’t be such a chore after all!

”Hello, Miss Guan. The celebration party Ye Zilin mentioned is tonight? When would be a good time for me to come pick you up?” Chen Fei asked with a smile.

”Why don’t you come over now, Mr. Chen? I’ll wait for you at the gate of Oakwood Community on Long March Road. The party doesn’t start for several hours, so... why don’t we have dinner at my place first?” the alluring voice suggested.

”At your place... for dinner?” Chen Fei stammered, stunned.

”You don’t want to, Mr. Chen? In that case, we can just eat out,” the voice on the phone suddenly sounded aggrieved, becoming pitifully endearing.

”I want to! Of course I want to!” Chen Fei snapped out of his daze, shaking his head and eagerly protesting. Was he kidding? A girl personally invited him to her house for dinner. He’d have to go even if it meant climbing a mountain of swords and plunging into a sea of fire! Otherwise, how could he justify passing up such a golden opportunity from the heavens? Right?

”Then please hurry over, Mr. Chen. I’ll head down in about ten minutes and wait for you at the community gate,” Guan Shiyin’s penetrating laugh echoed through the phone just before she hung up.

「Oakwood Community on Long March Road, Northern Mountain City.」

This was a fairly well-known upscale community in a bustling area. Chen Fei drove his Mercedes GL400 straight there, his curiosity about her appearance growing by the minute. A voice that alluring and penetrating, combined with the rave reviews from both Ye Zilin and Gu Feishuang... Chen Fei was now genuinely curious. Was this Guan Shiyin really as beautiful as they said?

”Hello, Miss Guan, I’ve arrived.”

”Mm, I see you, Mr. Chen. Over here.”

Chen Fei parked his car by the roadside and was dialing her number when he heard someone calling out to him from nearby.

It was a woman with long, flowing hair, about 1.67 or 1.68 meters tall. A pair of slender legs, tightly wrapped in athletic leggings and small, dainty pink sports shoes, showcased her nearly perfect lower-body curves. She was full of charm! A total head-turner!

Furthermore, she wore a punk-style cap over her soft, dark hair. Beneath its brim was a fair face with a gentle smile, complemented by rare, crescent-shaped smiling eyes that were simply stunning to behold.

”Hello, Mr. Chen. I’m Guan Shiyin,” she said, walking toward him with a smile. Her crescent eyes seemed to melt him as she extended a fair hand for an introduction.

”Er, uh... Hello, I’m Chen Fei. It’s a pleasure to meet you!” Chen Fei blushed. That’s right, he actually blushed. A beautiful woman with smiling eyes dressed in athletic wear, plus those slender legs with their near-golden-ratio proportions and her silky smooth, fair skin... She was completely his type! Oh man, he couldn’t take it; his heart was racing and wouldn’t stop!
