Chen Fei could say that after great hardship, he had finally made it back to Jiangnan Province, yet he still couldn’t escape the ’attacks’ of certain dimwitted creatures. Just like now, the nephew of Tongzhou City’s Vice-Mayor, a bona fide billionaire… This slew of titles was intimidating, so it was no wonder that Captain Pu from the airport police outpost was so eager to please.

To put it nicely, the airport police outpost oversaw the high-end security of the airport area, which was certainly a respectable job in the eyes of ordinary people. In reality, though, they were just small fries under the jurisdiction of the county-level public security authorities. Plainly speaking, it was just a basic position within the system. Naturally, anyone with a sliver of ambition would want to latch onto Lau Tianqi’s, or his uncle’s, coattails.

After all, this was the Vice-Mayor of the Conference City of Jiangnan Province. Although he wasn’t one of the top five figures in the city, in the eyes of a grassroots outpost captain like Pu, he was an incredibly impressive and influential figure. That was why Captain Pu would rather offend a public figure like Gu Feishuang to curry favor with Lau Tianqi.

If he could please Mayor Lau’s billionaire nephew, wouldn’t a promising career and vast wealth come rolling in? By then, couldn’t he have anything he wanted?

Lau Tianqi walked ahead with Captain Pu, an arrogant expression on his face. Behind them, Chen Fei and Gu Feishuang were sandwiched between several security guards. ”Behave yourself,” one of the guards joked. ”But I’ve got to say, you’ve got some serious guts, kid. Daring to hit Mayor Lau Yunbing’s nephew… that’s impressive.”

This guard, unlike his captain, wasn’t so ambitious, nor was he qualified to walk alongside the mayor’s nephew, so he simply studied Chen Fei with curiosity. This kid looked so young, yet he dared to strike the mayor’s nephew. Was he not afraid of death, or did he have some powerful backing? Having spent enough time in the complex world of security, even a nobody like him had seen plenty of such situations and had his own way of sizing things up. He wasn’t as blatantly biased as Captain Pu, who seemed to have already decided that Chen Fei’s influence couldn’t possibly match Mayor Lau’s. Then again, it was probably true. The mayor of Jiangnan Province’s Conference City, even a vice-mayor who wasn’t on the standing committee, was still an incredibly mighty figure. Out of the hundreds, even thousands, in Tongzhou City’s political arena, how many could surpass him? It was no wonder their Captain Pu acted the way he did.

”So what if I hit him? What’s he going to do about it?” Chen Fei countered with a grin, his face a picture of disdain. Yes, what was done was done. What could they possibly do to him?

”But that’s Mayor Lau Yunbing’s nephew from our very own Tongzhou City, brother. Are you sure you can handle this?” one of the guards muttered, scratching his head as the others exchanged uneasy glances.

Good lord, that was the Vice-Mayor’s nephew. Had they stumbled into a fight between gods, leaving mortals to suffer the consequences? Judging by this kid’s attitude, he really didn’t seem to take this matter seriously at all.

”What does it matter if he’s the Vice-Mayor’s nephew? Is there no law in this society? He started it! What does it have to do with Brother Fei?” Gu Feishuang protested, though her expression was still tinged with worry.

It’s true. If Lau Tianqi hadn’t started trouble himself by trying to slap Chen Fei, he wouldn’t have been sent flying with a single kick.

”Miss Gu, regardless, hitting someone is wrong,” the security guard who first recognized her chimed in, his tone seemingly a reprimand but his intention kind. ”I’d advise you both to take a step back. When the time comes, you should lower your stance a little and apologize to Mr. Lau.”

Indeed, that’s just how the world works. While Gu Feishuang’s status as a movie star was impressive to the average person, it was only in regard to the common folk. Against a billionaire, the nephew of a provincial capital’s Vice-Mayor, it still wasn’t enough.

In an instant, the security guards walking beside them fell silent.

This was reality. Living in this circle, one had no choice but to accept it.

”Brother Fei,” Gu Feishuang whispered, her anxiety deepening, perhaps influenced by the tense atmosphere.

”I’ll make a call,” Chen Fei said, taking out his phone with an air of helplessness and dialing Secretary Dong Wencheng’s number. He originally wanted to wait and see what other tricks they could pull. But with Gu Feishuang here... ah, forget it. He’d stop playing around for now.

Meanwhile, in the airport terminal’s arrival hall, two men and a woman, whose extraordinary auras and distinguished status were evident even from a distance, waited quietly. Not far behind them, several bodyguards patrolled the area.

Perhaps growing impatient, or noticing that nearly all passengers from the Shenzhen flight had disembarked, a middle-aged man in his forties couldn’t help but ask, ”Brother-in-law, why hasn’t Mr. Chen come out yet? Could something have happened?”

This person was none other than Chen Yaoyang, the eldest son of the Chen Family, one of Hong Kong’s Five Great Tycoon Families. It was unexpected for him to be in Tongzhou. The woman with him must be his wife, Dong Shuxian. As for the other man, whom he called his brother-in-law, it was clearly the top official in Tongzhou City: Party Secretary Dong Wencheng.

”Let’s wait a little longer,” Dong Wencheng replied, his expression calm. However, his slightly trembling hands betrayed his inner anxiety. Indeed, how could he not be anxious at a moment like this?!

RING, RING...

Just then, Dong Wencheng’s phone rang. He picked it up and saw it was Chen Fei’s number. A wave of relief washed over him as he quickly answered, signaling for Chen Yaoyang to be quiet. ”He’s calling. It’s Mr. Chen.”

Hearing his brother-in-law say that Mr. Chen was on the line, a look of envy flickered across Chen Yaoyang’s face.

After all, following that night at the underground market, he was keenly aware that Chen Fei possessed extraordinary martial abilities. He was even more terrifying than that old geezer Ma Shihao. If it weren’t for the market, for that Uncle Fu who still looked the same after twenty long years…

”Mr. Chen, this is Dong Wencheng. Have you arrived at the airport? Where are you?” Dong Wencheng asked respectfully as soon as the call connected.

”Sorry to have kept you waiting, Secretary Dong,” Chen Fei said with a light chuckle. ”I’m at Tongzhou City Airport, but I’ve been detained by security. Hmm, I believe it’s the airport police station.”

Dong Wencheng froze, his face instantly contorting with fury. ”What? The airport police station?! Mr. Chen, please wait a moment. I’ll make a call… No, I’ll come over myself. Let’s go! To the airport police station!”

As soon as he heard Chen Fei’s words, his heart leaped into his throat, and an uncontrollable rage surged within him. In his mind, Chen Fei wasn’t ’just’ an Ancient Martial Artist with Extraordinary Martial Power. His very existence was tied to the life and death of his father—to whether his old father, long confined to his sickbed, could be reawakened. And now, someone had dared to detain him? How could he not be enraged?!

”What?! Mr. Chen has been detained?” Dong Shuxian and Chen Yaoyang were stunned.

Are you kidding me? This was Mr. Chen, a man who played the formidable old monster of the Ma Family, Ma Shihao, like a fiddle. A truly terrifying entity with Extraordinary Martial Power! How many people in all of Huaxia were even qualified to touch someone like him?

And now he’d been detained by a mere police station? Was this some kind of joke?

”Let’s go!”

While Dong Shuxian and Chen Yaoyang were still frozen in shock, Dong Wencheng was already storming towards the airport police station with a thunderous expression. Snapping back to their senses, the couple hurriedly scrambled to follow, their faces pale with panic.

This is bad! This is going to be a huge mess!

”Brother Fei, who were you just on the phone with?” Gu Feishuang asked curiously as soon as Chen Fei hung up.

”Dong Wencheng. Do you know him?” Chen Fei replied with a smile.

”Dong Wencheng?”

”Dong… Dong Wencheng?! You mean our Tongzhou City’s Party Secretary, Dong… Dong Wencheng?!”

Since Gu Feishuang wasn’t from Tongzhou, the name was only vaguely familiar to her. But the security guards standing nearby froze upon hearing it. Their legs nearly gave out as they stared at Chen Fei as if he were a monster.

Could it be… could this kid really know Dong Wencheng? This can’t be fucking happening.

It was no wonder they reacted this way. The status of Tongzhou City’s Party Secretary, Dong Wencheng, was simply too intimidating. Who could possibly stand against that? To give a clearer example, their captain had been utterly terrified and had shamelessly fawned over the mere nephew of Vice-Mayor Lau. But that was just the nephew, not Vice-Mayor Lau himself! If it were the actual top official of Tongzhou City—Secretary Dong in person… they couldn’t even begin to imagine that scenario! It was just too unbelievable!

”Dong… Secretary Dong? Brother Fei, you’re still joking at a time like this, honestly,” Gu Feishuang said, snapping out of her daze. She clearly didn’t believe Chen Fei’s ”boastful” claim and sounded annoyed.

”Why would I lie to you?” Chen Fei just shook his head with a bitter smile. These days, no one believed the truth anymore.

”You… you really know Secretary Dong, Brother Fei? Can he intervene to settle this? But with his extraordinary status, would he even bother with such a trivial matter?” Gu Feishuang stammered, staring at him blankly.

Could it be? Could Brother Fei really know the Party Secretary? But a man of Secretary Dong’s stature… would he even remember his connection to Chen Fei? And would such a powerful figure really intervene in this kind of trouble? It seemed she was thinking of Chen Fei as someone who had only met the man once, without any deep connection. Otherwise, why would she be thinking so much?
