Medical Sage

Regarding the human experimentation incident, Mayor Huang Tao rushed to the provincial capital overnight and reported everything to Governor Zhao Zhengguo. Governor Zhao took the matter very seriously. He ordered a thorough investigation down to the very last detail and demanded that those responsible be held fully accountable.

Human experimentation is an absolutely depraved act, considered a heinous crime both domestically and globally. Consequently, no one would treat this as a trivial matter; it could only be handled with the utmost gravity.

Meanwhile, Chen Fei was at the Traditional Medicine Affiliated Hospital of Northern Mountain City, attending to Kou Ling’s father.

”Brother Chen, my dad didn’t have an episode last night! You’re incredible! You can definitely cure him, right?” Little Kou Ling couldn’t help but exclaim excitedly. He was looking at his father sleeping peacefully in the special ward, a stark contrast to his terrifying condition over the past few days.

”Of course,” Chen Fei said with a smile. ”When I promise you something, I always see it through.”

”Doctor Chen, the patient’s vital signs have completely stabilized and are now normal. It’s just... the serpentine genes in his body...” Elder Du voiced his concerns from the side.

According to the principles of the five elements and yin-yang in traditional Chinese medicine, the human body has its own operational framework that allows it to remain healthy and free from illness. But now, something foreign had infiltrated that framework, only to suddenly become dormant. This turn of events didn’t reassure him; instead, it made him even more worried. He feared it was the calm before the storm.

”You don’t need to worry about what’s inside his body, Elder Du. I’ll handle it,” Chen Fei said, stroking his chin. ”However, given his current condition, the patient isn’t ready for my special treatment yet. It looks like we’ll have to wait a while longer.”

This wasn’t just an excuse; the patient’s condition truly wasn’t ideal. After all, the experiments those people had conducted on him were failures. Under such circumstances, he couldn’t afford to be careless.

Furthermore, with his current abilities, he wasn’t one hundred percent certain he could save the man. Therefore, he preferred to wait until he broke through to the Qi Refining Fourth Layer before beginning the treatment. After all, by then, I’ll be on a completely different level. A small problem like this will be child’s play, won’t it?

RING, RING, RING...

At that moment, Chen Fei’s phone began to ring. Startled at first, he pulled his vintage Nokia phone from his pocket. When he saw the caller ID, however, a flash of confusion crossed his eyes. It was an unfamiliar number.

”Hello, this is Chen Fei. Who is this, please?” he asked with a note of confusion as he answered the call.

”Hello, Brother Fei, this is Ye Zilin,” a pleasant female voice said from the other end of the line.

”Ye Zilin?” Chen Fei was clearly taken aback. He hesitated for a moment before saying, ”You’re the woman who was with Slick—I mean, Hua Zhinan in Tongzhou City that day!?”

Fortunately, his memory was exceptionally sharp these days. Upon hearing the name, he vaguely recalled that she was Hua Zhinan’s companion from his trip to Tongzhou City. But we barely know each other, so why is she calling me?

”Brother Fei, you remember me! That’s great,” Ye Zilin’s voice was initially joyful before she grew a bit embarrassed and lowered her tone. ”Um, the thing is... I’m calling today to ask you for a favor.”

There was no real connection between them, and it had been a long time since they’d last seen each other. To suddenly call and ask for a favor was, of course, a bit awkward for her.
