Medical Sage

”Kid, you’ve got guts!” After Chen Fei let go, Zheng Kuangyi clutched his throat, gasping for air. He pointed a trembling finger at Chen Fei, his face contorted with rage as he shouted, ”You...!”

Despite his current sorry state, Zheng Kuangyi was a genuine kingpin in the Northern Mountain City underworld. When had he ever been violated and insulted like this!?

”Kid, good for you! It’s been seven or eight years since anyone in Northern Mountain City dared to be so audacious with me. I advise you to get out of here right now. Otherwise, we’ll see,” Zheng Kuangyi said shrewdly. He knew Chen Fei’s skills were more than enough to crush him, so after spitting out a threat, he beat a hasty retreat. However, the vicious glint in his eyes as he left and the menace hidden in his words made it clear this matter was far from over.

As Zheng Kuangyi sullenly stormed into the elevator, Guan Shiyin, who had been panicking, finally breathed a sigh of relief. ”Um, Mr. Chen, thank you,” she said. ”If it weren’t for you, I don’t know how long that detestable guy would have pestered me.”

But as soon as she finished speaking, she voiced her concern. ”But what he said just now... Mr. Chen, will you be alright? The first time I saw him at the airport, he had seven or eight fierce-looking bodyguards with him. They clearly looked like... like they were from the underworld!”

For an ordinary TV hostess like her, those fleshy-faced, brutish men covered in intimidating tattoos were a shocking sight. Naturally, she was terrified.

”The underworld? Miss Guan, don’t worry. They wouldn’t dare cause trouble in a high-end residential complex like this, right? Besides, we still have the police. It’s no big deal,” Chen Fei said, completely unconcerned.

The underworld? What a joke. He had fought his way in and out of the infamous Hong Kong Gangs seven times over. These so-called Northern Mountain City gangs? Don’t make me laugh. He could take on two for every one that came, and if ten showed up, he’d just wipe them all out. Simple and efficient!

”Alright then. In any case, thank you for today. Also, feel free to call me Shiyin. All my friends do.” Perhaps the earlier display of heroism had won over the beautiful Guan Shiyin, because she was now the one taking the initiative to close the distance between them. Her cheeks blushed, and her eyes curved into smiling crescents.

”That would be great, Shiyin. Why don’t you just call me by my name, too? It feels a bit odd otherwise,” Chen Fei said, smiling and nodding. Then he added playfully, ”But, Guan Shiyin... Guanyin... your name is really something else. The Greatly Merciful and Compassionate Guanyin Bodhisattva! Hahaha.”

That’s right! Guan Shiyin, Guanyin.

When he first heard her name, he thought it was incredible, like something straight out of the legends of the Greatly Merciful and Compassionate Guanyin Bodhisattva. They weren’t very close back then, so he hadn’t felt comfortable teasing her about it. But now... well, it was all in the name of strengthening their ’friendship,’ of course. Hehe!

”Ugh, don’t even start. I’ve been laughed at for my name so many times. It’s all my mom’s fault. She’s a devout Buddhist and insisted on giving me this name, saying it would bring me the blessings of the Guanyin Bodhisattva.” Sure enough, at the mention of this, even a mature and independent woman like Guan Shiyin couldn’t help but scrunch up her pretty face in vexation.

People were gossipy by nature, and since she was a minor public figure as a TV hostess, netizens often left comments teasing her name on the message boards for her shows. Over time, it had driven her nearly mad. Even her charming, crescent-moon eyes were now furrowed in frustration, making her look like a pouting golden retriever.

”Pfft. Maybe your mom was really looking out for you. There are many things in this world that can’t be explained,” Chen Fei said. Seeing her expression, he, whose EQ was normally in the negative digits, had a rare moment of insight. His perception sharpened. With a curl of his lips, he effortlessly struck a classic Bruce Lee pose, looking incredibly cool and suave. ”For example, this young master’s martial arts! HIYAH!”

”Hehe, Chen Fei, you’re hilarious.” Guan Shiyin couldn’t help but cover her mouth and laugh. She was surprised at how entertaining he had suddenly become, her crescent eyes twinkling brightly. ”But are you really skilled in martial arts? You were so amazing just now. With just a slap and a grab, you took down that disgusting, annoying guy.”

Moreover, when Chen Fei mentioned ”martial arts,” she showed a surprising amount of curiosity. She even adorably and earnestly took action herself, mimicking his earlier movements in the air. The sight was so captivating it was irresistible.

”Pfft. Alright, Miss Guan Shiyin, you great beauty, didn’t you say you were treating me to dinner? Are we going to eat out here on the street?” Chen Fei couldn’t help but chuckle before putting on a serious expression.

”Ah? What’s the big deal about dinner? Hmph... Well, let’s go inside then.” Her good mood interrupted by Chen Fei, Guan Shiyin sniffed indignantly and huffed. But then she suddenly blushed, remembering that she and Chen Fei had only just met.

Seeing this, Chen Fei laughed inwardly while maintaining a deadpan expression.

Heh! This Young Master’s ’playing hard to get’ technique is as sharp as ever. I may not be seen in the martial world anymore, but my legend lives on!

「A moment later」

”This is the apartment I’m renting. Please come in,” Guan Shiyin said, opening the door.

Chen Fei peeked inside with curiosity. It was a typical studio apartment, no more than thirty or forty square meters at most, but it was decorated very warmly. There were eye-catching, colorful patterns and a large, European-style pink bed with a white tulle canopy that gave it an air of childlike innocence.

Beyond that, Chen Fei noticed that in the only relatively spacious area of the room stood a modern treadmill, on which rested a hula hoop and a pink jump rope.

Seeing all this, a slight smile touched Chen Fei’s lips. ”Shiyin,” he said suddenly, ”it seems you really like pink.”

”Ah, how did you know?” Guan Shiyin asked, startled and a little flustered.

”It’s obvious. Look at the bed, this jump rope, the pink-dominated murals on the wall, and the...”

Chen Fei trailed off, realizing his gaze had once again strayed to her almost perfectly proportioned legs, especially when accentuated by the tight fit of her leggings, revealing curves that made one’s heart pound uncontrollably.

”Hey... what are you looking at?” Guan Shiyin was initially puzzled as to why Chen Fei had stopped talking. But when she followed his shimmering gaze, she seemed to understand. Her pretty face flushed as she chided him, her voice trailing off into a whisper.

”Ah, ah, sorry, sorry. I couldn’t help myself,” Chen Fei said, offering a rambling excuse that barely covered his embarrassment.

”Why don’t you sit for a bit? There’s a water dispenser and paper cups over there. Help yourself if you’re thirsty. I’ll get started on dinner.” Guan Shiyin was likely feeling a bit awkward herself, so she turned and pretended to get busy at the kitchen counter.

But just as she reached the stove, her beautiful, crescent-shaped eyes did a quick scan and she exclaimed in dismay, ”Oh no! I forgot.”

”Shiyin, what’s wrong?” Chen Fei asked upon hearing her cry.

”Um, it seems I forgot to buy soy sauce and salt,” Guan Shiyin said, looking sheepish. ”I was going to buy them when I went down to get you, but I completely forgot.”

”That’s simple. You wait here. It’s just soy sauce and salt, right? I’ll go down and buy them,” Chen Fei said with a smile, getting up.

”Um, maybe grab a couple of eggs, too,” Guan Shiyin said, at first seeming hesitant. Then, as if remembering something, she called out to Chen Fei, who was putting on his shoes. The moment the words left her mouth, she blushed again. After all, it was one thing to invite a guest for dinner, but quite another to have him run the errands.

Oh, this is so... embarrassing.
