High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2177: Chapter 398: Lower Primordial Festival

”Classic Wizard Etiquette,” ”Blood Clan Badge Studies,” ”Werewolf Totem Studies,” ”Analysis of Pentalingual Spell Curses,” ”Outline of Talisman Studies,” ”Fur Care and Maintenance,” ”Techniques of Hunting”... Tsk, tsk, are you sure this is just a day’s homework for Poseidon?”

Room 403, in front of the desk.

Xin Fat Man rummaged through the pink little backpack, shaking his head repeatedly. The look he gave the Little Fox was filled with pity: ”I thought our homework was already a lot... compared to Dong Dong, it’s like living in heaven.”

Poseidon lay sprawled on the desk, using Fatty Cat as a pillow, snoozing comfortably. Upon hearing this, she instantly blinked her eyes, showing an expression brimming with tears, as if about to cry.

Zheng Qing, not in a good mood, pulled out the ”Understanding Devils,” and tapped the table: ”I won’t mind the other homework, but you must finish copying this ’Understanding Devils’, or I won’t have an explanation! ... Don’t forget you were almost taken to hell! The devils don’t care how many big Wizards you have behind you, if they had any brains and knew the importance, they wouldn’t be pushed into hell, living off magma and sulfur all day.”

Between deception and intimidation, finally, the Little Fox picked up the feather pen.

Realizing she can’t completely slack off, the Little Fox sighed and lazily got up, wriggled to the thick magic book, and started copying with a face full of worries.

Xiao Xiao picked up the ”Analysis of Pentalingual Spell Curses” with great interest: ”What five languages does Qingqiu study? I’ve heard that old-school wizard families enforce learning of these classical magical scripts...”

The Little Fox immediately squeaked in response.

”Thebes Witch Text, Ogam Text, Rune Text, Enochian Text, and Marduk Text,” Zheng Qing translated the Little Fox’s response, wondering: ”I’ve also been curious before, with standard magical scripts available now, why waste time learning these outdated scripts?”

The Little Fox flicked her big tail, dropped the feather pen, raised her paw, enthusiastically showing support.

”Support denied, copying the book and my not understanding are unrelated.” Zheng Qing coldly interrupted the Little Fox’s spirit of resistance: ”As a reminder, twelve hours is very short, it passes in a blink... You’d better complete at least one full assignment before returning to the mansion.”

The ’curfew’ on this Lower Yuan Festival day was from six in the morning until six in the afternoon, prohibiting any student from wandering around the campus to avoid being collided by Yin Qi or disturbing the school’s religious ceremonies.

Poseidon was brought back to room 403 last night by Zheng Qing.

Due to well-known reasons, she was no longer suitable for the Pet Garden, so after obtaining school approval, the Little Fox was allowed to stay in the dormitory for a day.

The fellow dorm mates raised hands and feet in support—except for Dylan, as this Lower Yuan Festival happens to fall on the full moon of October 15th in the lunar calendar, for safety reasons, students with special bloodlines such as Blood Race, werewolves, and zombies were all relocated, so he missed the chance to flatter the Little Fox.

As for the others, Xiao Xiao was responsible for tutoring; Zheng Qing brought the velvet comforter prepared by the witches of Astronomy Class 08-1 for Poseidon; and Xin Fat Man, who tirelessly used phoenix wood to build a little wooden house for the Little Fox.

The little house had doors and windows, distinct tiles and columns, the ridge beast on the eaves had clear brows and eyes, and the wind chimes hanging from the eaves produced a crisp sound, nominally a dollhouse bedroom, but in reality, it was a miniature artwork that incorporated elements of both the Alpha Fortress and Greenhill Mansion. Even with many magical skills used in its construction, Zheng Qing was greatly amazed at the Fat Wizard’s craftsmanship.

Of course, corresponding to Zheng Qing’s ”great amazement” was Fatty Cat Tuan Tuan’s ”great irritation.” Compared to the temporary ”residence” the Fat Wizard prepared for the Little Fox, Tuan Tuan’s usual ”pillow garden” or ”head nest” was wretched, to say the least, even calling it a ”cramped dwelling” would be an overstatement.

”Too harsh!”

The Fat Wizard sympathetically handed a piece of fried chicken dipped in hot and sour sauce to the Little Fox’s mouth, sighing repeatedly: ”Kids at this age should play heartily, how can they bury themselves in books all day?”

Zheng Qing smacked away that piece of fried chicken, Tuan Tuan swiftly fetched it, ignoring the Little Fox who was drooling with craving.

”You have no idea about the demands of that Upper House Member.” The young cost student pouted, picking a strawberry from the fruit plate, and stuffed it into the Little Fox’s mouth: ”We are very different from them...”

Poseidon smacked her lips, her head half-dyed red by the splattered strawberry juice.

”There’s no difference, lax families each have their own joys, and strict families are all alike in severity.” Xiao Xiao, thinking of something, sighed softly: ”... From the dead to the living, from portraits on the wall to the servants at the door, the same atmosphere is omnipresent, affecting every person in the household as if an invisible magical power controls everything. Sometimes what you think is rebellious...”

Saying that, he naturally took a piece of fried chicken from the paper box in the Fat Wizard’s arms, dipped it in the sauce, and stuffed it into his mouth.

”... Like a piece of fried chicken, or not doing homework, or staying out all night.” He shook his head slightly: ”You think you can break away from those constraints and be different. But in reality, these ’rebellious’ actions are also part of their plan.”

Zheng Qing looked outside thoughtfully, his eyes showing a hint of reminiscence.

In the corner of his eye, Poseidon sneakily moved to the fried chicken box, carefully picking up a piece, and when she noticed the Wizard looked back, she immediately puffed her cheeks, pretending nothing happened.

Zheng Qing suppressed his laughter and pinched her cheeks stuffed with chicken: ”You can eat a little... eat slowly, don’t choke. How about eating one piece of fried chicken and writing one sheet of parchment homework?”

Not so great.

The Little Fox squinted her eyes, her cheeks squirming, her ears drooping down, blocking her ear holes, pretending not to hear the Wizard’s suggestion, her fluffy big tail happily swaying behind her.

Zheng Qing was at a loss, turned to look at Xiao Xiao.

”Don’t look at me, you’re her dad, if you can’t handle it, what can I do?” Doctor Xiao pushed up his glasses, raising a stack of documents in his hand: ”Besides, the Winter Hunting is next weekend. I need to submit the list of Hunters for the Absolution’s participation in the Winter Hunting and the relevant filings by Wednesday, that’s tomorrow at six in the afternoon... or, shall we switch?”

The young cost student immediately withdrew his gaze, refocusing on the Little Fox.

”I have a small idea regarding today’s homework,” he raised one finger, suggesting: ”For example, you write each letter larger, so even if you don’t finish the homework, you’ll have a thick stack that looks very impressive and gives a great sense of achievement!”
