Chapter 2164: Chapter 385: I’m Not Zheng Qing

”What do you mean by taking a small step back in ’the free transformation of species’?”

Beelzebub, wearing a wolf head mask, impatiently knocked on the table, looking a bit agitated: ”We’re all by ourselves in this room. Speak clearly. If it’s genuinely useful, you won’t be left without benefits.”

”You don’t really think my inner image is a fox, do you?” The Red Fox spread its claws, its tone full of astonishment.

When wizards perform transformation, they unconsciously choose the animal image that aligns with their innermost tendencies. Zheng Qing knew this the first time he heard Professor Li explain it.

But transformation that doesn’t match the inner image?

A word suddenly surfaced in the Black Cat’s mind.

”Directional Transformation Technique?”

The Bat Mask, who had just entered the room, spoke the answer from the Black Cat’s heart. He sat by the table, elbows resting on it, fingers intertwined before him. Although phrased as a question, his tone was quite certain: ”To my knowledge, while using the Directional Transformation Technique can indeed leave a trace of magic power inside, it is too weak to support you speaking.”

The White Pig flicked its ears, casting a disdainful look at the Bat Spirit.

”There is another kind of magic in the world, called alchemy.”

It slightly raised its long snout, revealing a small bell hanging around its neck, its voice emanating from the bell: ”I just need to channel my thoughts into this bell, and it will naturally produce a normal voice... This voice is better than the effect of the mask disguise.”

”Doesn’t the Directional Transformation Technique also have time constraints?” The Cat Face Witch also voiced her doubts.

”Can our meeting last all night?”

The Red Fox happily raised its tail, swaying it side to side: ”Based on my experience, our longest meeting was two hours and thirteen minutes, discussing last semester’s end about whether to make a move on that major event... The shortest was only ten minutes. I remember the last gathering was just as short... My Directional Transformation Technique can last nearly six hours, time is absolutely sufficient.”

”What if I lock you up in a cage after the meeting ends?” The Wizard wearing a wolf head mask suddenly interjected with malice, looking at the two small animals on the table: ”You surely don’t have the strength of Lord Kannai.”

The White Pig and Red Fox’s expressions changed collectively.

The most criticized point of transformation among wizards is exactly here — wizards can only transform into creatures without magic abilities or with very weak magic power. This transformation indeed enhances wizards’ stealth and evasion abilities to some extent, but they have to place their safety in the hope of the Wizard’s Code. If someone doesn’t care about the Alliance’s second-degree murder or insists on dealing with an ordinary small animal, the transformed wizard’s situation will be very dangerous.

The Black Cat appeared in time, blocking between Beelzebub and Mammon, and Beelzebub, comforting them: ”This is the meeting room of the Seven Sins. No one can lock others in a cage here... I can assure you of this.”

While speaking, it glanced warningly around, its body subtly expanded a bit, the heavy shadow almost enveloping the entire meeting table, sharp claws extending from its fingertips, gleaming with a cold light.

All was silent where the eye could see.

Then it turned to look at the Fox and the Pig: ”If you two are still uneasy, after the meeting ends, you go first... I will leave you enough time to withdraw safely.”

Whether it was an illusion or not, Black Cat felt that after this statement, the atmosphere in the meeting room immediately lost that hint of unfamiliarity it had upon arrival, and other people’s gazes toward it also became much gentler.

”Just kidding.”

Beelzebub touched his long wolf snout, his tone unusually showing a hint of concession: ”I just intend to remind them that the school at night is not as safe as it appears during the day.”

Black Cat rolled its eyes silently.

Perhaps due to that rough wolf head mask, perhaps because of the name ’Beelzebub’, all in all, his concession sounded like an outright threat to others.

The Witch with the Cat Face Mask quickly changed the topic, looking interestedly at the Fox and the Pig: ”You just mentioned taking a small step back in ’the free transformation of species’ naturally allows a small step forward in ’magic power stability’... It shouldn’t be as simple as described, right? How do you maintain this subtle degree of ’small step’?”

Old-school wizards favor words like ’measured’ or ’a touch’ when teaching magical knowledge, but students under modern magic theory at First University prefer to hear precise numbers.

The Fox lightly coughed: ”Of course, of course, Directional Transformation Technique is never easy, especially when it involves exploiting loopholes in Mendel’s Law, which requires extremely high magical skills...”

”It’s not that complicated!”

The Little White Pig interrupted the Red Fox’s bragging with a coarse voice, flicking its ears, revealing a hint of impatience: ”Pay a bit of attention to the transformation time, that’s all! My transformation teacher told me the most crucial in maintaining a ’small step’ is the transformation time. As long as your ’species transformation’ time is short enough, you won’t suffer from the Law’s erosion... But if your transformation takes too long... there’s a chance of turning entirely into a pig. Of course, by that time, although magic power can restore to normal, I would still become a pig with my original magic power level... Such matters would be known with a bit of research into basic books on transformation, and don’t need to be asked of the two of us... Look at me and Mammon, we don’t know each other, but we can both transform to join the meeting, doesn’t this explain the issue?”

Although a bit verbose, this statement clearly explained the key points of using the ’Directional Transformation Technique’.

”Ordinary transformations are indeed not very appealing to us.” The Warlock wearing a bat mask suddenly spoke, glancing at the Black Cat: ”...Compared to these restrictive and side-effect-laden methods, I’m actually more interested in the transformation technique used by Lord Kannai.”

”I don’t know any transformation technique,”

Black Cat chuckled, irresponsibly making things up: ”I was originally a cat... Besides, my job is with the ’relevant department’, and you wouldn’t want to start working at Danghag at such a young age.”

”By the way, there’s a recent rumor at school, not sure if you’ve heard.” The Cat Face Witch grinned, playing with a grape in her hand: ”There’s a saying that Zheng Qing from Jiuyou Academy is quite skilled in transformation...”

The Black Cat and Red Fox both shivered inside.

However, the Black Cat still maintained its calm appearance, while the Red Fox’s face changed drastically.

”I solemnly declare I am not Zheng Qing.” It raised its paw, looking seriously at everyone, its tail nervously curled into a ball: ”Lord Kannai can supervise... Merlin Above, if I am Zheng Qing, then tonight I should be skinned and hung in First Square to chill in the cold wind for the night!”

Whether you are Zheng Qing or not is none of my business!

The Black Cat was instantly furious inside, but couldn’t act overly excited on the surface, so it only snorted coldly: ”Such oaths are worthless. I know at least seven or eight ways to circumvent the constraints of an oath... Enough nonsense, Lucifer, what did you summon everyone for tonight?”

He turned to look at the Warlock wearing the bat mask.
