High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1999: Chapter 320: Saturation Applications

No need to exert any effort or bear any responsibility.

You just need to sit comfortably in the office and recognize the hunting team that plans to hang under your name—coincidentally, that team is called ’Absolution,’ last year’s freshman competition champion. Though it hasn’t been established for long, it has participated in the school’s Winter Hunting and witnessed the brutality of the Black Prison Battlefield. From any perspective, it is worth entrusting.

If I were the professor, Zheng Qing couldn’t think of any reason to refuse.

Unfortunately, he was not.

And Professor Montreya is a very stubborn guy. This is evident from his insistence on conducting research on bloodline influence.

Sure enough, upon hearing the witch’s request, the professor frowned slightly and didn’t agree immediately.

”It’s not that I’m afraid of trouble.”

He sighed lightly, perhaps worried about the witch’s expression, and added, ”I refused so many hunting teams before for the same reason: the laboratory’s projects have reached a critical moment, requiring coordination between the Alliance, Danghag, and the laboratory, needing to find a suitable test site for the experimental results to land, and still needing to complete some experimental details... Next week, or maybe the week after, I might take some time off and let other professors stand in for your Magic Script Class...”

Saying this, the professor’s gaze fell on Zheng Qing behind the witch, reminding, ”Student Zheng Qing should be aware that Montreya Laboratory’s bloodline influence experiments have already yielded many results... Moreover, he spent a semester in my laboratory and knows my attitude towards life; I wouldn’t lightly entrust my reputation to someone else.”

The pressure shifted back to the young cost student.

Zheng Qing was inwardly lamenting, his excitement from a few seconds ago disappearing as quickly as a summer rainstorm. This was because, despite serving as an assistant in the professor’s lab, he found it difficult to gauge the extent of the laboratory’s achievements due to his limited perspective.

On the other hand, the professor’s understanding of him also matched Zheng Qing’s impression—stodgy, stubborn, responsible, and unlikely to handle any responsibility hastily.

The young man’s silence and the distress on his face tacitly confirmed the professor’s words.

This made the atmosphere in the hallway somewhat awkward.

Jiang Yu didn’t let this atmosphere continue to simmer, still smiling, she sighed as if disappointed, ”What a shame... but the experimental project is more important... there’s still plenty of time, we can look for other Hunting Competition guides... sorry to disturb you, Professor.”

Professor Montreya also didn’t continue with pleasantries, nodding slightly, carrying the handouts and the stack of assignments, and hurriedly left, his figure quickly disappearing at the end of the corridor.

Behind them, Matthew Karen’s voice unexpectedly came.

”Looks like you guys failed too?”

He passed by the students, holding a reference book for the Magic Script Class, looking in the direction where the professor’s back had disappeared with deep emotion, ”This makes me feel much better... Even an excellent hunting team like yours didn’t succeed, at least we know the professor’s refusal is serious...”

This sounded like a compliment but also like a mockery.

Zheng Qing felt there was something odd about it, but he couldn’t pinpoint exactly what.

”No need to worry.” He decided to put on a stern face, looking at the vampire in front of him, making a showing of impatience, ”If there’s nothing else, we have other things...”

What a waste of words.

When this tone came out, even Jiang Yu couldn’t help but turn her head, acting like she hadn’t heard it.

However, Matthew, perhaps used to hearing old vampires exchange idle words at the Karen Castle, actually found Zheng Qing’s manner particularly endearing and, after hesitating for a few seconds, added, ”Just now in the classroom, I heard that The Duke is contacting tomorrow afternoon’s elective teacher... and Nicholas, it’s said they’ve already found a guide teacher... so... keep it up.”

The five hunters of the Absolution Hunting Team silently watched Matthew’s figure recede.

After a while.

Zhang Ji Xin finally couldn’t hold back, nudging the young cost student with his elbow, ”Since when has he been so easy-going? Still so good-natured after you roasted him...”

”Ever since his cousin was outperformed by your brother.” Xin Fat Man quipped on the side.

Matthew’s cousin, Sir Friedman, failed in the competition with Augustus, while Zhang Ji Xin’s brother, Uncle Zhang Zhi, became the new Lei Zhe. This up and down revealed the fickleness of the world and the warmth or coldness of human relationships.

”If you have time to worry about those frivolous affairs, why not think about the selection task!” Zheng Qing interrupted his two companions’ chat, looking around, ”You all heard just now... we, Absolution, can’t be outdone by Nicholas’s Fringe Hunting Team. Since things didn’t work out with Professor Montreya, we’ll proceed with the previous plan...”

Then he looked at Xin, ”Fatty, you go find Zhu Si, the sooner the better!”

”On my way!” The Fat Wizard had a good attitude, but seemed slightly lacking in confidence, ”Just not sure where that girl is hiding now... She’s always wandering around...”

”I’ll ask Meng Meng to help you,” Jiang Yu glanced at the Little Witch peeking at the classroom door, arranging, ”She’s on good terms with Zhu Si, and will have some private way to contact her.”

Zheng Qing noticed the Fatty’s eyes light up.

”Just stick to business, no messing around!” The Absolution team captain warned them uneasily before turning to the other two companions, ”And you two...”

”I’ll take care of Teacher An from the Academic Affairs Office,” Zhang Ji Xin patted his chest, ”When I went to my brother’s office at noon, I even saw him in the corridor... except for that Mysticism manuscript teacher, who is never seen outside of class. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow afternoon for that.”

”I’ll handle communications with the Magic Universe Study teacher.” Xiao Xiao also repeated his task.

”And the two of us need to approach the Magical Zoology teacher to apply.” After receiving Jiang Yu’s affirmative glance, Zheng Qing carefully calculated the number of applications and possibilities for his hunting team. The confidence that had been dashed regained momentum, ”I just don’t believe it, with such a saturation of applications, our excellent hunting team won’t find a guide teacher!”

It’s good to have confidence.

But randomly setting up flags is a very bad habit.

On Tuesday afternoon, after Magic Script Class, Absolution Hunting Team’s hunters launched their assault in all directions, even giving up many training sessions, scouring the campus for suitable guidance.

However, bad news followed one after another.

The worst of which came from Xin Fat Man about Zhu Si.

”It’s been confirmed multiple times.”

The Fat Wizard sat by the desk, his face ashen, a big round face hidden behind high-stack textbooks, as if he had no face to show others, his voice sounding somewhat helpless, ”Zhu Si has become the guide teacher for the Fringe Hunting Team... exactly Nicholas’s team... It is said that the connection was made by Sister Korma from the Sakura Pub.”
