High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1996: Chapter 217: Searching and Searching for a Mentor

The young master of the Taylor family refers to Andrew Taylor, who is also the captain of the Ouroboros Hunting Team.

Not long ago, during a night training session of the Absolution Hunting Team, Zheng Qing had seen the equally ’busy’ Ouroboros Hunting Team by a bay of the Silent River at night. At that time, Iseni and Lin Yan were also present.

The Ouroboros Hunting Team was initially founded with the approval of Sepulano - as Ouroboros is Sepulano’s favorite creature and the clearest symbol of the Xiang Qi Club members.

Upon hearing Xiao Xiao’s question, Nicholas shrugged.

”Well, I don’t know.”

He raised his hand and gestured vaguely in the direction of the North District of Beta Town, simply explaining, ”Iseni was arranged by the Great Sage. According to Katherine - who counts as the first Northern District Wizard - she said Iseni seems to be a hunter traded by the Great Sage from the Lin Zhong Lake Fishman Tribe... And Lin Yan, because he could only sit in the substitute seat in the Ouroboros and couldn’t participate in the competition, tried every way to connect with Iseni and came together.”

”Why trade for a fishman?” Xin Fat Man scratched his chin, full of confusion: ”I don’t have any bias against Iseni, his strength is indeed quite strong... But I think, as long as the Great Wizard Colmar speaks, you definitely have better choices.”

”Remember I just mentioned our hunting team’s name?” Nicholas retorted.

The Fat Wizard slowly tightened the flesh on his cheeks, his expression turning serious: ”Fringe Hunting Team.”

”Yes,” the Northern District Wizard smiled slightly: ”We must have a bit more self-awareness... Since we know we’re on the fringe, we should stay away from the mainstream and find groups with similar situations.”

”Sounds quite complicated.” Zheng Qing muttered, glancing at the skinny tall warlock: ”Then what’s the deal with Carmen? Didn’t she just transfer in?”

”The Gypsy Witch Coven is also in a difficult situation.” Before Nicholas could speak, Xiao Xiao seized the opportunity to answer Zheng Qing’s mumble, and then turned slightly, looking at the tall warlock: ”Compared to these things, I’m more interested in your experience in the office.”

As they spoke, the group had already passed through a leaf-covered path and arrived at the lakeside of Bell Lake.

Surprisingly, Bell Lake was bustling this morning, with the shouts of students and water buffaloes echoing, and the thin mist over the lake surface not yet fully dissipated, curling at the boundary of the lake shore, increasing the impression of busyness.

Nicholas’ eyeballs quivered slightly, and he withdrew his gaze from a fiery red big bird.

”Actually, it’s not that complicated.”

He first characterized his experience, then succinctly answered: ”Like most people... I went to Professor Yi’s office first... After all, the role of a divination master in the hunting competition needs no explanation... Unfortunately, the professor was not in the office, but he had posted a notice on the door, indicating that he is already serving as the Judgement Hunting Team’s guide teacher... Seeing this notice, I knew things were not going well, so I didn’t consult room by room according to preference like others did but went directly to the office everyone is afraid of.”

”Professor Li?”

”Potion Making?”

Xin and Zheng Qing almost spoke at the same time, although they said different things, they pointed to the same office, Professor Li’s office for Magic Potion Class, which has always been one of the forbidden areas for all students at First University due to its strange smell infused with various magic potions. Zheng Qing had the ’fortune’ to enter once, and it left a deep impression.

”Bingo!”

Nicholas snapped his fingers, his expression a mix of pride and disappointment, making it particularly complex: ”Thankfully, my choice was very correct, Professor Li was in the office, and as I expected, no other hunting team had visited... Unfortunately, as the school’s top magic potion master, Professor Li had already been snagged by other high-tier hunting teams as their guide teacher.”

”You Yao Qi,” Zheng Qing chewed on the name of the school’s veteran hunting team, and sighed heavily: ”I always thought this team’s name was particularly fitting for Old Yao...”

”Maybe only you dare say such things casually around the school.” Xin Fat Man shivered, subconsciously looking left and right, even glancing upward, as if in the next second a giant hand would descend from the sky and smash them young people into mince.

”And then?” Xiao Xiao interrupted his two companions’ chatter and pursued the question.

”Oh, afterward... with one best option and one worst option ruled out, it was just routine, going from office to office asking around.” Nicholas shrugged, looking a bit dejected: ”It’s just that most teachers’ offices were locked, and The Door Gods guarded them tightly, not even allowing a self-recommendation letter inside... The remaining few offices were already crowded with hunting teams, likely hopeless... When I submitted my self-recommendation letter, I saw that the pile of application materials on those professors’ desks was three feet thick.”

Zheng Qing suddenly stopped in his tracks.

”So, you don’t know whether those professors have chosen hunting teams or which team they chose?” The young cost student appeared somewhat exasperated, grabbing the tall warlock’s collar, nearly spitting in his face: ”Then why did you tell us there’s no chance!”

Nicholas laughed dryly twice, carefully avoiding the flying saliva.

”Feeling the hope is too slim, almost equals no chance, haha.” His eyes darted back and forth, clearly unsure, looking like someone ready to take a beating.

”And you!”

Zheng Qing turned to Xiao Xiao, angrily retorting: ”’As expected’? What’s as expected?! If it weren’t for your ’as expected,’ I wouldn’t have turned and walked away so readily!”

”Exactly, exactly.” The fat man chimed in from the side.

Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses, his expression as calm as ever.

”I did remind you at that time,” he answered slowly: ”Any divination result only provides limited guidance... But you never grasp the key points in the conversation. Just like now, shouldn’t we be more focused on finding which professor can serve as the guide teacher?”

”Right, right, what the doctor says makes sense!” Nicholas eagerly agreed: ”Based on my previous experience, there’s definitely no hope with the seasoned professors... Just like how I visited Professor Li’s office, the best current choice is those unpopular teachers’ offices.”

”It’s best not to mind the professors’ titles,” Doctor Xiao added: ”Seasoned professors are hard to find, I think ordinary lecturers are also fine.”

At the mention of lecturers, Zheng Qing’s eyes lit up, staring intensely at Xiao Xiao.

No need for him to speak.

Xin Fat Man clamorously shouted: ”Then leave it to the doctor... If it’s hard to invite others, Teacher Sima should at least give you some face.”
