Chapter 1992: Chapter 213: The Sin of Jealousy

”Jealousy is a unique kind of envy.”

”In other words, jealousy is envy, but envy isn’t necessarily jealousy. When that Black Cat becomes envious due to jealousy, my trial begins.”

The Witch wearing a Cat Mask stood beside the Sin Bearer, smilingly watching the Black Cat transform into lightning as it dashed towards the Cat Fruit Tree, summarizing in a light-hearted tone, ”As for the criteria for judging whether he passed the test, it depends on how he overcomes this feeling of jealousy... and how long it takes. If he’s overwhelmed by jealousy and does something out of control, then I’m sorry.”

”How wicked.”

The Warlock wearing a White Mask shook his head, filled with emotion, ”Choosing to let a cat face one of the most sour flavors in the world, that’s so you... I thought you’d just go through the motions like Lucifer.”

”Doesn’t this count as going through the motions?” The Witch wearing the Cat Mask tilted her chin, ”Back then, I had to challenge a three-headed snake to inherit this position. As for Lucifer, his test isn’t simple; arrogance is a very subtle emotion.”

”Subtle or not, I don’t know, but I think it might be easier for that cat to deal with a three-headed snake.” The Sin Bearer laughed, suddenly changing the subject, ”Speaking of which, I’ve been wondering, do you know this Black Cat?”

”Why do you think that?”

”I just found out that the Black Cat has a date tonight,” the Warlock spread his hands, his tone full of curiosity, ”I even don’t know whether it’s with a dog or a cat... yet you crafted such a refined test scene for him... it’s hard not to overthink.”

”You’re worried this might violate the principle of anonymity within the guild.” The Witch casually broke the Warlock’s unspoken implication, chuckling lightly, ”Rest assured, I don’t know this cat either... The one who crafted this refined test for him wasn’t me but Magic Potion.”

”Magic Potion?”

”Have you heard of the Luck Elixir?”

The Witch shook her robe, the sound of glass bottles clinking faintly from within her sleeves, ”It’s a kind of lucky Potion, but its mechanism doesn’t just magically make desires come true; instead, it improves the user’s Destiny, plucking the strings of Fate to determine potential outcomes. Before going out tonight, I drank a little... then merely came to watch the show.”

”Merely came to watch the show!”

The Sin Bearer clicked his tongue in admiration, ”I assumed the richest among the Seven Sins would be either Lucifer or Mammon... didn’t expect I’d be so wrong. You actually indulged in wasting such valuable Magic Potion on this trivial matter.”

”Not just wasting, nor is it necessarily precious; it’s only about suitability or not.”

...

...

The Black Cat was unaware that the two Masked Sorcerers behind were discussing him.

Or rather, even if he knew, he wouldn’t care.

From the moment he saw the Little White Cat alongside the beautiful Ragdoll Cat, his vision could fixate on no other scene—the full moon above, the cicada flipping over the tip of his nose, the Furry Bean waving his tail beneath the tree, none could divert his attention.

He only wished to dash up the Cat Fruit Tree, boasting his sleek fur and muscular body like Popeye the Sailor Man with Spinach before the Little White Cat, suppressing that unfamiliar Ragdoll Cat with the Might as Lord of the Cat Fruit Tree.

Honestly, he usually wouldn’t act to such extremes.

But tonight, maybe due to the full moon, the air filled with moonlight made the Magic Power within him extraordinarily active, letting his deepest emotions unleash without restraint.

Conversely, this extreme emotional fluctuation further amplified his Magic Power agitation, resonating with those emotional waves, permeating deep into his Soul, shaking the once-stable seed of Order.

Rustle, rustle.

In the depths of his Soul, a small tree swayed its branches in response to the external heat, sparse leaves rustling against each other, producing a hoarse murmur.

The Green Snake coiled around the tree raised its eyelids amidst the shake and noise, lazily glancing outward.

”Troublesome.”

The Green Snake hissed silently, then raised its head slightly, a bright red tongue shot from its mouth like a red lightning bolt, piercing deeply into the Mist-filled heart lake.

Outside the heart lake.

The Black Cat rushing towards the Cat Fruit Tree hadn’t reached beneath the tree when a slender red tongue suddenly jabbed out of his right ear, wildly wiping his face like a windshield wiper.

Swoosh, swoosh!

The wet tongue felt cold and slippery, terribly unpleasant on the face. The previously burning-anxious Black Cat felt as though doused in icy water, instantly regaining clarity.

After wiping the face, the slender tongue quickly retracted into the ear without staying a moment longer.

The Black Cat didn’t have time to pursue the ”illegally exiting” tongue; upon clarity, he immediately realized how naive and laughable his earlier intentions were.

Hiss!

He drew in a cold breath, his sharp teeth biting his tender tongue, glancing warily behind him, ”This Seven Sin is truly sinister... leading one astray unknowingly.”

Meow!

The soft call of the Little White Cat greeted his ears, seemingly addressing him. The Black Cat promptly set aside his newly risen apprehension, flicked his tail, and leaped onto the Cat Fruit Tree, reaching his Throne in three or so bounds.

On the spacious Throne, besides the Little White Cat, lay the magnificently furred and valiant-looking Ragdoll Cat.

If he had rushed up earlier with his mind muddled, the Black Cat would have puffed his ears, thumped his chest muscles, fanned out his neck fur, prancing before the Ragdoll Cat like a peacock; he might even have grown larger, trying to suppress it with sheer size.

But now.

Like usual, the Black Cat lifted a paw for a paw tap with the Little White Cat before curiously glancing at the Ragdoll Cat, ”Where did this cat come from? I haven’t seen it on my tree before.”

The Ragdoll Cat remained motionless, looking skyward with a serene demeanor.

The Little White Cat laughed boisterously to the side.

The Black Cat stared blankly, focusing again and even poking the Ragdoll Cat with a paw, finally determining the cat before him was indeed a ’Ragdoll’ Cat, merely near-perfectly real under Magic enhancement.

Thinking that he almost flexed his muscles in front of a stuffed toy, the Black Cat felt cold sweat behind his neck, relieved within himself.

A note was slapped before the Black Cat with a Little White paw.

Reading it, the Black Cat suddenly realized—the Ragdoll Cat was Jiang Yu’s Mid-Autumn gift to him, akin to both ’Sunny Doll’ and ’Nightmare Doll’ in design, a ’Good Dream Cat’, placed by his pillow for better sleep, helping him have delightful dreams.
