High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 350: Chapter 19 Professor Montreya_1

Using the ice mirror that Thomas conjured with a spell, Zheng Qing saw his ’red eye’.

To be precise, he saw one of his eyes had turned red - it was not both of his eyes that had turned red, but only his right eye.

This was unlike the ominous crimson of the demon’s eyes; nor was it like the clear and bright ruby-like eyes of the little white rabbits.

Zheng Qing’s right eye looked as if it had been punched hard, and atop the white of the eye were irregular patches of blood clots of various sizes, making it look quite tragic at first glance.

”It appears to be a subconjunctival hemorrhage caused by the rupture of the conjunctive blood vessels,” Thomas, wearing silk gloves, cautiously pulled back Zheng Qing’s eyelids, carefully examining them, and between his fingers were beads of light the size of mung beans.

Zheng Qing squinted his left eye, withdrew his neck, and let Thomas stuff those mung bean-sized orbs under his eyelids,

”Blink.” After all the glittering orbs had been inserted under the eyelid, Thomas removed the silk gloves and asked, ”Does it feel unusual? Like soreness, swelling, or stinging?”

”Nothing... If I hadn’t seen it myself, I wouldn’t have noticed that there was a problem with my eye.” Zheng Qing obediently blinked and felt as if his right eye was soaked in a hot spring, very comfortable.

”There shouldn’t be any significant issues.” Thomas breathed a sigh of relief, turned his head to look at Zhang Yu, ”Should we report to the professors?

”I’ve already reported it... Even if there is a problem, it doesn’t matter.” The assistant teacher with white hair smiled gently and looked at the two freshmen, comforting them, ”The professors have given a preliminary opinion... unless something unexpected happens, you two will be arranged to be admitted to the hospital by the school tonight.”

”Going to the hospital again.” Zheng Qing sighed.

He vaguely remembered that he seemed to have been lying in the hospital for several days just last week.

”I feel like I could take down a bull right now.” He flexed his arm, showing off his bicep, trying to convince the two assistant teachers in front of him.

”Can we not be admitted?” Lin Guo also protested on the side: ”I haven’t finished my divination homework yet...”

”Divination class?” Thomas blinked, then raised his head, waved his hand, and shouted with his throat, ”Professor Yi? Professor Yi!...They both said they wanted to write divination homework, so they don’t want to be hospitalized...”

”I didn’t say that!” Zheng Qing immediately became anxious.

”That’s not what I meant...” Lin Guo was also a little dumbfounded.

”Homework?” The professor who was examining the body of a Wild Demon not far away was clearly a little startled by this somewhat unexpected request, after a while, he leisurely replied, ”You still have to go to the school hospital, but you also have to do the homework... Don’t worry, I just did a little calculation, they will hand in their homework on time next week.”

Thomas shrugged, spread his hands, and looked at the two freshmen.

Lin Guo hung her head and hugged her bag, no longer speaking.

Zhang Yu handed the two freshmen each a glass cup - Zheng Qing had absolutely no idea where he’d gotten them from - and exhorted, ”Drink this.”

The cup was filled with a green, thick liquid, steaming like a hot exotic fruit juice.

”What’s this?” Zheng Qing could not help but recall the hangover soup he had had one morning; his face turned a bit pale as he cautiously sniffed the cup.

It smelled fragrant with no strange odor.

”It’s Calming Soul Soup; Professor Li just cooked it up and sent it over... Drink it while it’s hot, it’ll be good for you.”

Zheng Qing took a sip, unexpectedly, even though it was steaming, the soup in the cup was not hot. When he sipped it, it had a refreshing feel, but it was a bit tasteless, like boiled vegetables without oil or salt.

So he did not hesitate any more, pinched his nose, and gulped it down.

The cold sensation refreshed him, but at the same time, a burning feeling spread from his stomach, flowing into his organs and stimulating his heart to pump more forcefully.

”The professors will be here for a while... If you aren’t rushing to lay in the ward, you can come along and see for yourself,” Thomas said, his gaze landing on Lin Guo. ”Of course, if you’re feeling a bit tired, I can escort you to the hospital now.”

Seemingly provoked by the gaze, Lin Guo stood up straight and replied, ”I’m not tired!”

Zheng Qing looked at the young wizard with some concern.

Perhaps, fainting under the impact of the demon’s aura earlier had stimulated Lin Guo, and his spirit now seemed a bit sensitive.

...

When they arrived on the lawn, several assistants were still busily connecting the broken bones of the poor Kappa Monster while the Elder Ferna and two professors stood not far away, whispering about something.

The evening breeze caressed her face, and Zheng Qing faintly heard Professor Yi’s complaint.

”... It was a bit too brutal earlier...”

”Hmph!” Elder Ferna snorted heavily, looking off into the distance.

Lin Guo’s mountain goat lay leisurely beside the bushes, absently munching on its cud. Because the lawn was currently under investigation and it couldn’t forage, the black goat’s temper was considerably worsened.

The old hound, named May, was wagging her tail unusually, inching closer to the black goat as if trying to snuggle for warmth.

However, under the ferocious glare of the black goat, it hesitated and remained indecisive.

”Well done, both of you!” Elder Ferna’s large hand landed on Lin Guo’s head, giving it a rub.

A few minutes ago, Professor Yi’s rewind magic had perfectly conjured the scene when the incident occurred. Obviously, the young wizard who fainted under the pressure of the wild demon didn’t think he had done anything remarkable.

Lin Guo wrinkled his nose, his eyelids slightly red.

”This is your first encounter with a wild demon, isn’t it? You did very well... much better than I did when I was young,” he said, his eyes shifting to the black goat. ”And your goat is quite impressive too.”

”The young ones these days are really something.” Another professor, who was not accustomed to praising others, sounded a bit stiff.

Zheng Qing noticed his high cheekbones and his grey hair.

”This is Professor Montreya, who is in charge of advanced magic text and lineage research for senior students,” Thomas whispered. ”He has his independent laboratory in the Applied Magic Research Institute.”

”You’re Zheng Qing?” Professor Montreya’s gaze was sharp, and his voice always carried a tint of severity, ”I’ve heard about you from Professor Emma, they say you’re quite talented in magic text... You did well today.”

Zheng Qing nodded awkwardly, her gaze falling on the wild demon still lying on the ground.

The wild demon was still bound by magic.

However, unlike the crude, savage vine ball that Zheng Qing had conjured earlier, now binding this Kappa Monster were a few thin, silver chains.

The chains passed through its shoulder blades, carapace, and pelvis, forming a complex array on its shield armor.

The assistants, wearing silkworm skin gloves, were using knives, saws, scissors, and tweezers to carefully dissect the creature’s body, patiently excavating within its dark plasma.

The Kappa Monster, with its blood-red eyes, seemed somewhat fearful but still had a hint of greed in its eyes.
