High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 322: Chapter 246 After the Ceremony_1

”The universe is a dark forest!”

”The world is a savage cave!”

”You must pierce the deep night with the swords in your hands! Let your boiling blood illuminate the brilliance of the starry sky!”

”When Heaven wishes to kill! Fight against Heaven!”

”When Earth wishes to kill! Fight against Earth!”

”When men wish to kill! Fight against men!”

”Our souls will never perish!” The tall president of Starry Sky Academy lifts his hands, ”Life goes on...”

”The fight never stops!” The Blue Robe Wizards wave their fists fanatically:

”Fight! Fight! Fight!”

...

...

”It’s really a complex and lengthy ceremony,” Zheng Qing feels the intense fluctuations of magic in the first hall, scratches his chin thoughtfully, murmuring.

Little Fox squints comfortably, its big tail swinging in mid-air.

Not even the roaring of the new students from Starry Sky Academy could wake it from its nap.

Upon returning to the veranda, Little Fox hopped out of the hat, regaining its lively and cheerful demeanor. It seemed that the complex magic circle in the center of the hall had some mysterious deterrent effect on it.

”Isn’t this what people yearn for?” Xiao Xiao held his brush, licked it in his mouth, opened his notebook, and wrote something quickly.

His old tortoise, like a heavy stone, lay quietly in his hat, making no movement.

”Yearn for?!” Zheng Qing almost laughed out loud upon hearing this, ”Are you joking? Would people yearn for such a thing?”

Perhaps his voice of doubt was a bit too loud, a few surrounding students turned their heads to look at them.

Finally, Xiao Xiao puts down the brush in his hand.

There’s a drop of ink at the corner of his mouth, making him look funny.

However, he explained with a solemn expression, his tone serious: ”That’s right, what people always pursue is this kind of thing...or you could call it a sense of ritual.”

Then he threw out a series of questions:

”Do you prefer chaos or order?”

”Do you prefer war or peace?”

”Do you like rules?”

Zheng Qing had some difficulty understanding Doctor Xiao’s meaning, but relying on his intuition shaped over nearly two decades, he instinctively chose the pleasing words: ”Peace is of course better than war ... and likewise, order is definitely better than chaos.”

”As for rules,” he thought for a moment, cautiously replied, ”In a sense, rules have two sides.”

Xiao Xiao held his heavy notebook, looked closely at the student in front of him, his tone appeared somewhat dissatisfied:

”Keep it simple!”

”Rules are also good.” Zheng Qing answered quickly.

”That’s right.” Xiao Xiao nodded in satisfaction, looked towards the center of the hall, where the students of Atlas were listening to the principal’s final instructions.

...

...

”Faith is the sublimation of consciousness, and affirmation of personal will.”},

”The path you walk is your faith.”

”Some believe in the starry sky above their heads, some believe in the morality in their hearts, some believe in the welfare of all beings, universal peace.”

”Our longing for love, our pursuit of knowledge, our unstoppable compassion for human suffering, these construct the foundation of our faith, providing inexhaustible spiritual power for our faith.”

”This is a world that still has faith!”

”This is a world worth saving!”

”This is where we live and die!”

The dean of Atlas looks calmly at his students: ”Our covenant——”

”Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire.” The Yellow Robe Wizards speak solemnly, their expressions grave.

Golden lotus flowers burst forth like fountains from the intricate magic circle under their feet, striking the new students of Atlas. After impact, they disappeared like illusions.

...

...

”All wisdom races, including the beasts, ghosts, and demons in your eyes, prefer a life with order and rules.”

”Even if this order requires them to pay a certain price.”

”Only with order can the limited individual power be concentrated to protect the interests of the whole race - from the world’s perspective, the fate of the race is crucial for each individual.”

As Xiao Xiao said this, he suddenly turned to look at Zheng Qing and threw out another question:

”So, have you ever thought about what the manifestation of this invisible order is in real life?”

”Are you talking about these ceremonies?” Zheng Qing nodded thoughtfully.

”Since their genesis in this universe, humans have been struggling with the strong sense of insecurity inside their hearts.” Xiao Xiao raised his head to look at the ceiling of the first hall.

After the fog disappeared, the Magic Celestial Phenomenon emerged under the vault again.

The densely packed points of light looked like a real starry sky, covering everyone’s heads.

”The reflection within the heart reveals the real world outside.”

”And these ceremonies and rules, they’re like the real world’s order, building a solid fortress for our hearts.”

”It allows us to face any challenge with courage and strength.”

Xiao Xiao pressed his notebook, looking at the starry sky above his head, somewhat lost in thought.

”It sounds quite complicated...” Zheng Qing looked at Doctor Xiao blankly, feeling as if he just talked about a very serious topic.

Impressive but baffling.

Poseidon seemed to finally be unable to withstand Xiao Xiao’s chatter, and lazily climbed up from Zheng Qing’s arms, jumped onto Li Meng’s shoulder with a hop.

The young witch grinned, released her dove, and happily started grooming Little Fox.

The dove Xiao Bai called out angrily, and flew to Jiang Yu’s shoulder in a huff.

”Take the ordinary people in the mundane world for instance.” Xiao Xiao frowned, trying to explain with an example that Zheng Qing could understand.

But Zheng Qing’s focus seemed to have drifted off: ”You know about the lower class?”

”Those who believe in authority,” Xiao Xiao gave him a stern look, emphasizing: ”do not disdain freedom, but believe that authority can bring a stronger sense of security... in a society organized by contract, people’s faith in the contract can also bring security.”

”For example, in our academy, examinations convince the people... In Alpha Academy, lineage is clearly more persuasive.” Zheng Qing immediately drew parallels.

”Very accurate.” Xiao Xiao seemed delighted that someone was here to discuss this with him: ”Whether it’s small units like families and academies, or bigger ones like countries and societies, these principles all apply.”

”Whether it’s traditional families or emerging powers, or our school. People adhere to rules, not because they admire their beautiful and complicated appearance, but because of the sense of security they bring.”

”Yes, very correct, very correct.” Zheng Qing simply agreed, his mind following a new figure appearing in the center of the hall.

”They are not students from our academy, right?” The surrounding students whispered to each other.

A tall, thin male wizard walked through the swirling fog into the center of the first hall.

Behind him was a chubby figure that Zheng Qing recognized.

The young public-funded student squinted his eyes.
