High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 351: Chapter 20 Anatomy Class under the Moonlight_1

”Wild Demons are creatures with exceptional fighting instincts.”

”Even a wild demon that hasn’t been transformed for long can usually develop astonishing sharp senses.”

”From this perspective, they truly don’t have many weaknesses...as freshmen, the fact that you were able to control this Kappa Monster in such a short time is impressive, quite impressive.”

Professor Montreya’s voice is a bit hoarse, and his choice of words to praise the two young wizards is somewhat scarce. Clearly, he is not a man good with words. However, for some reason, he seemed quite interested in the conversation now:

”A few years back, when I was researching the ’Extent to which bloodline influences ability,’ I had dealing with some wild demons. Without exception, they all displayed great aggression after their transformation, but at the same time, their defensive abilities, physical stamina, vitality, and various instincts were greatly enhanced...If we disregard rationality, this transformation could almost be considered as a qualitative change!”

”Just imagine, if we could further refine the ability to transform demons into wild demons, obtaining some sort of mild, non-mental-impact transformation method, then the power of the wizards’ world would undergo another leap.”

”This would be a groundbreaking revolution...”

”Cough cough!” Professor Yi loudly interrupted Professor Montreya’s slightly enthusiastic speech.

Professor Montreya frowned, stopped speaking, and looked around.

The faces of assistants like Thomas clearly showed a hint of unease, as if they had heard some particularly rebellious remarks; men clad in grey, the school’s staff, ignored the professor’s words, pretending not to have heard. Old man Ferna didn’t even bother to hide his disgust, simply turned around and left halfway through the speech.

Only Zheng Qing and Lin Guo showed a degree of fascination with Professor Montreya’s described vision.

”Does this mean that in the future we could become registered wizards by getting a shot?” Upon seeing the professor stop talking, Lin Guo couldn’t help but praise,”It’s as fascinating as the Philosopher’s Stone!”

A smile curled upon Professor Montreya’s lips, evidently, he enjoyed this kind of praise.

But at the same time, he also closed his mouth and didn’t discuss the subject any further.

”Children have such rich imaginations.” Professor Yi rubbed the young wizard’s head, and his tone changed as he warned the young wizards around him, ”Professor Montreya’s ideas are indeed interesting...but they’re also dangerous. Up until now, only his lab has been approved to conduct this kind of research in the entire wizarding world.”

”While these topics aren’t classified, they are sensitive...I don’t want any disturbing rumors surfacing on campus.”

Zheng Qing and the others repeatedly shook their heads, claiming they wouldn’t dare, almost as if they were swearing an oath.

”As Professor Montreya has just mentioned, wild demons indeed have impressive attributes. These beasts certainly have many physical advantages, but their intelligence fundamentally limits their development.”

Professor Yi turned his head to look at the two freshmen beside him, his tone filled with warning, ”You defeating a wild demon is praiseworthy...but that doesn’t mean you can get big-headed.”

”The world is full of different kinds of wild demons, and you’ve only encountered the most basic kind...They don’t have many weaknesses, but they’re also not particularly powerful creatures.”

”What are wild demons?”

”Wild demons are fodder! They are the weakest, most widespread low-level demons of this world.”

”Defeating them isn’t something worth bragging about.”

”But, Professor.” Zheng Qing, more perplexed after listening to this explanation, couldn’t help but interrupt,” If wild demons are not that intimidating...then why did I receive the Merlin Medal from Trident?”

This question was somewhat abrupt. Everyone on the lawn glanced over, even the assistants who were ’tidying up’ the wild demons couldn’t help but lift their heads to look at him.

Professor Yi did not hesitate, he smiled and gently said, ”That question must’ve been bothering you for a while...Actually, that medal was not for your taming of the wild demon, but for the courage you showed when facing sudden disaster... That’s what’s most precious.”

”If I remember correctly, among the numerous people on Four Seasons Pavilion, you were the only one who charged towards the raging wild demon?”

Zheng Qing’s face slowly turned red.

But lucky for him, his flushed face went unnoticed under the cover of night.

Professor Yi raised his hands, placed them on Zheng Qing and Lin Guo’s shoulders, and spoke a little louder, ”For freshmen who are encountering a wild demon for the first time, facing them, fighting them, requires a lot of courage.”

”This is the time when your innermost beliefs are being tested.”

”Without the belief in guarding those behind you, without the belief of defeating evil, and without the belief that stands against the fallen, you would not step forward to do what many should have done but have not.”

”To see defeat as victory; to assess the enemy before advancing, to deliberate over a victory before meeting, those filled with fear.”

”I retreat into my own, though there be a million others, I shall go!”

”Where the path leads, though there be a million others, I shall go!”

Professor Yi’s words, spoke with resolute and dignified determination, engulfed the lawn in silence. Even old man Ferna, not far away, repeatedly looked to the side and nodded.

Perhaps sensing that he had placed excessive pressure on his students and assistants, Professor Yi skipped the heavy topic, and said cheerfully:

”Of course, freshmen should just be able to deal with Wild Demons.”

”These creatures are low in intelligence, yet have strong instincts, easily subdued with the right magic.”

”The magic taught by our academy at the beginning of your enrollment is carefully selected; easy to learn, with development potential, and is particularly effective against Wild Demons.”

”The Binding Spell ’Ge Zhitianxi’ of Jiuyou Academy, ’I Ma Hui Tui’ Soft Leg Curse of Alpha Academy... are such types of spells.”

”Your performance was excellent... We will recommend to the school to award you with some academic credits.”

The two freshmen were instantly overjoyed.

Zheng Qing felt he should be more humble, but he could not help but grin.

”Humph!” Old man Ferna, standing outside the crowd, snorted, ”Do the patrol team need you to recommend rewards to the school?”

Professor Yi chuckled, refraining from arguing over it.

Meanwhile, assistants who were originally on their knees ”sorting out” the Kappa Monster had collected all necessary ’materials’ and began to tidy up their tools.

”Found anything?” Professor Yi turned to an assistant who stood up.

”We can only confirm that it’s a Wild Demon transformed from a Kappa.” The assistant didn’t speak loudly but was very clear:

”The transformation took place within three hours... More accurate timing requires further testing in the laboratory.”

”We found some amphibian remains in its stomach, as well as some minerals, mud, leaves, and wild fruit.” The assistant opened a wooden box next to him, displaying three blood-streaked inner suits, carefully turned them with tweezers, and explained: ”This Kappa Monster had a fourth-level transformation... Its original single stomach changed into three, which can digest different kinds of food according to varying degrees of stomach acid - dry or humid, meat or grass, poisonous or nonpoisonous - all can be crushed and grinded into nutrients it needs in these stomachs.”

”Just as greedy as always.” Thomas mumbled to himself at the side.

”Do you know how it transformed?” Professor Yi interjected.

The assistant looked troubled and shook his head.

Professor Montreya suddenly lifted his robe corner, hooked it to his waist, then rolled up his sleeves, revealing his pale arms with protruding joints.

He squatted down, donned silk gloves, took a small knife and a pair of tweezers, and began prodding the Kappa Monster’s body.

A moment later, he stood up, removed his silk gloves, and threw them into a trash bag.

”Indeed, no unusual bite marks.” He looked unwell.

Zheng Qing found this statement confusing.

But after looking around, he found that almost everyone looked unwell.

No matter if it was old man Ferna, Professor Yi, or the assistants like Zhang Yu and Thomas.
